Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teacher with 12 years of experience Thank you for your interest. I am looking forward to hear from you
I have found Anshin Martial Arts to be truly exceptional. The owner, Mike Lewenczuk, is a black belt in the Shoshin Ryu Japanese style jujitsu and serves as sensei of the school. His skills (or skillz as I say) are amazing - he is so fast yet so controlled and effective - I have never seen anything like it, yet, his professionalism, patience and teaching manner are what really matter in a learning setting and Mike is tops in the field - you can't get any better. The techniques we learn are real world techniques - grabs, holds, strikes, throws, pressure points and more all designed to thwart an attacker or group of attackers. We also learn traditional artistry of movement, Japanese names and terms, and symmetry in all that we do. Mike stresses safety and learning with a good dose of fun thrown in. I tell him all the time that my face aches when I leave class from smiling so much because I am having such a good time. I know that Brazilian style jujitsu is a fast rising sport and it has its place but this Shoshin Ryu style is a whole 'nuther ball game. I guarantee you will be blown away at what you see and learn in your very first class. Young, old, female, male, fit or not so fit - all have a place here and are welcome. Egos are checked at the door - everyone is friendly, polite and helpful.

Theres something for everyone in Contra Mestre Marquinho Coreba's Capoeira classes. His style of teaching engages students of all ages, varying levels of physical fitness and experience, and a diversity of backgrounds. The Capoeira classes are high-energy, full-body workouts, but most importantly, theyre both challenging and fun. Students begin by learning the Capoeira fundamental movements such as kicks, escapes and sweeps. Next, a progression of sequences is built upon these basic exercises. Eventually, the sequences develop into a fluid dialogue of movement with a partner. In essence, Capoeira is a game of simulated attack and escape. It can be theatrical, humorous, and mischievous, and sometimes it is aggressive and athletic. C.M. Coreba brings together these various elements in his teaching. Capoeira combines martial arts, dance, music, and rich cultural traditions, resulting in a physically gratifying and emotionally satisfying experience. We believe that personal growth and fulfillment are the foundations for a better society.

I have been training in martial arts for most of my life, starting with the Kempo my father learned while in the special forces in Vietnam through through boxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and san-shou. One constant despite that bouncing around has been Aikido; as much time as I've spent on various striking styles, I've always gravitated towards the philosophy and style of aiki. Suffice to say, I've had a number of teachers over the years. I am one of Mark's current students, and I feel incredibly fortunate for it; he has an innate understanding of how to teach, and combines it with a willingness to explore the martial arts holistically and honestly. Coming into his school as a somewhat non-traditional Aikido student, it's been fantastic to have such a skilled and open instructor to learn under, and it's easily among the finest training I've ever had.
