Lamar and George had to be the nicest, most professional movers I've ever hired! They were polite, efficient, and concerned for the condition of my furniture. Also, Alex quoted us a great price, and there were no surprises when it came time to pay. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a reasonably priced, smooth move.

Eric and Carl did a wonderful job packing my moving truck and car with several pieces of furniture and about 50 boxes. They were careful with fragile items and packed the truck so well that nothing shifted during the drive.

What a pleasure to deal with courteous and responsible experts. They promptly answered my questions in advance, gave me a window of arrival and showed up exactly at the beginning of that window. They had no problem planning two pickups (estate sale purchases) so I could keep my costs down. They blanketed and taped the antique furniture and secured it. And they hustled to get the furniture moved into its new location, including setting up the queen bed frame in a flash. I'll definitely use them again!

One of the best experiences- Our move-in was delayed a month due to permits on the new apartment and Jack was SO accommodating for us- We had to reschedule THREE times, and he was always responsive and understanding each time. He fit us into their busy schedule during one of the busiest move weeks. I have never seen guys move furniture so quickly as if it was light as air- They did a fantastic job. Great group of guys with a sense of humor while they are sweating and lugging heavy furniture up and down stairs. Would definitely recommend them and use them again!

Frank and the Hebert Movers helped move my furniture into a storage unit in August and then helped move it into a new condo just recently. The service was outstanding. They had 3 movers and a large truck to move everything we needed including 3 bedrooms and large/ heavy furniture. They were on time and moved quickly. No damage to anything occurred. I would definitely recommend Hebert movers to anyone who needs help with their move.

We had a long distance move from Salem, MA to Maryland. Lexel quoted us the lowest rate by far compared to other movers in the area. They moved us out on a Tuesday morning and delivered everything to our new home by the next day. All of their staff was curteous and polite. They reassembled the furniture that they had to take apart with care. All of the furniture was also wrapped very well and nothing was significantly damaged.

I had a somewhat complicated move yesterday with pick up of furniture in two locations and drop offs in three different towns. My experience with Round the Clock Moving was excellent. The movers arrived a bit early which was a great start. They were patient, flexible and as nice as could be. They were great to work and I highly recommend them.

I hired All Points Movers for a job that had to happen within a very specific time frame (meeting a transport company that would only deliver heavy furniture curbside; I needed men to carry the items up 4 flights of stairs and remove other items from my apartment - no elevaror in my building). I was very pleased with All Points Movers. The owner, Lindsay, was professional, kind, flexible regarding time, and gave me a fair price. The two workers he sent were punctual, fast, but careful with my heavy bed and other items, and also kind and non-judgemental regarding the state of my apartment. I had worries that I would be standing curbside, (possibly in the rain!) with my furniture waiting (and paying for the time of the laborers if the transport company showed up late, since the transport company was reluctant to provide anything more than a range of time such as 9-11 or "after we finish the job in Springfield"). However, All Points Movers made the process seamless and easy by agreeing to send the workers at the same time the transport company notified me that their job in Springfield was done. I couldn't be happier with the service I received and highly recommend All Points Movers!

Two movers were on time and professional unloading our two 16-foot storage units and also packing, moving, and unpacking an apartment in the city. They were patient and considerate as we tried to figure out what rooms everything should be placed in. They moved heavy furniture delicately and without breaking a sweat. They worked tirelessly from 8am-6:30pm. Choose these guys for your next move, you won’t regret it!

They were great, took really good care of my furniture and goods. I had a lot of fragile stuff and everything came in perfect condition. They take their time, but it is worth it because they make sure they take good care of your furniture/goods. The only problem with me was that they started a little later than they had planned, but it turned out ok. I highly recommend their service.

Due to a cancellation, Poseidon Moving was able to arrive early for the move, which worked out great! They were very fast and efficient, while taking great care of the antique furniture they were moving for my client. They asked all the right questions, were easy to communicate with for furniture placement and didn't mind my vacuuming while they worked! I will definitely refer them to future clients.

We hired move and improve to move a good amount of furniture from one apartment to another and were pleasantly surprised by their work! They handled the work load extremely well and in the least amount of time possible! Very professional and responsive I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a company that cares about their customers and are experts in their field!

Two extremely strong and polite men came and did such an excellent job. They moved a very heavy dining room table into a car outside, moved four large air conditioners into a storage space (that they rearranged so everything fit), moved a bunch of camping equipment AND some furniture around in my living room. OH! And moved a giant box of records (which was so heavy I could barely slide it) and a record player into the car as well! These guys were detail oriented, thorough, polite and 100% worth the fee they charged me. I ended up tipping an additional ten percent because they were so helpful! Definitely hire Ramsure- you won’t be disappointed!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.
