Ky worked with my daughter who is going on to play college soccer at a division 2 university. He was professional yet challenging for my daughter. He pushed her to do things that she didn't think she could do. I could see a huge improvement in her flexibility, strength, and fitness. I was skeptical at first with sending her to a trainer but after the first month I realized it was money well spent. He was up front with what he was going to do. He was on time for each session, and communicated very well. The prices were lower than most and worth every penny. I would highly recommend him to anyone out there looking for this training. We will use him again and again. Not one bad experience.
Ive been training with Lou for a little over two months now after stumbling upon Thumbtack and couldnt be happier with my decision on going forward with training with him. Starting off Im by no means a fitness freak or an athlete, just wanted to get into better shape to improve doing the activities I enjoy such as hiking. After working with Lou for this short amount of time Ive seen amazing gains in my endurance and strength, Ive revisited locations that Ive hiked and its crazy how much the training has assisted in my ability to carry more weight and trek longer distances. As others have stated Lou is extremely knowledgeable, which is proven through his individually customized programs for each session making each work-out new, never boring and positively challenging. The guy just really knows his craft, hell explain every maneuvers benefits to the physiological level. On top of this Lou is like your nutritional guide book, you have a question about something he knows the answer or he will find it for you. This is great for when you need help (like myself) on altering your diet and what foods to try to lose weight and get the most out of your workouts. I have to echo what others have said in terms of recommending Lou for anybody, not only because of what Ive listed above but because he takes training seriously (in a good way) and makes sure you do not injure yourself and performing everything with proper weight/technique. I guess I could write more but truly, give him a shot you wont regret it.
This is my second time around working with Tammy. It was about 3-4 years ago she got me in the best shape and health of my life! Battling with Rheumatoid Arthritis and on numerous medications. Somehow we powered through it all and came out on the other side stronger, healthier, 35 pounds lighter, and best off, NO MEDICATIONS or PAIN since!!!!!!!!!! As life has it, I started to slip with my routine (but still pain/medication free) so we have signed on again. This time is with my husband. He has been battling many health issues and also has an herniated disc. Tammy has been absolutely amazing in guiding him to better health and strength all the while with me working along side too. Training together has been a great, new and even fun experience for us. They always say it's best to have a work out buddy and to have that buddy be my hubby is even better! Tammy has made all the work, pain, training, and workouts somehow awesome! Her personality somehow just shines through no matter what and although some things can be difficult to push through she makes them somehow seem easier. I am forever grateful for her guidance, nurturing, education, expertise but mostly her sense of humor and friendship! I just feel there is no better way to go if you are truly serious about your health and getting fit. She is there for you ONLY as she builds what is best and safest for you and guides you step by step to getting healthier and fit THE PROPER WAY! For us, it's even sweeter as we train together at home with Tammy and the only equipment we use is our free weights, (our own body resistance) and the treadmill! :) Our sincere appreciation and gratitude to Tammy for giving us "early" fifty year olds another lease in life in getting fit and healthy. The education, proper guidance and physical fitness you gain is priceless!!!
I have been training with Johnny for six months now. It has been an awesome experience! I had been away from training and lifting for many years. Johnny got be back into the groove again! He has taken an over weight, 49 year old mess and delivered amazing results. I have muscle, definition, and have greatly improved my overall strength. Johnny is extremely knowledgeable in the human anatomy. He has a well mapped out plan detailed uniquely for each clients goals. For me, he combines power/strength development with muscle development through hypertrophy training. Trust me, IT WORKS! I am now hooked! My goal was to work with Johnny for 3 - 4 months. Well, he is so good I am in it for the long haul! I train with Johnny 3 days a week and 1 -2 days on my own. He got me to believe in myself again! I can physically see that I can still make major changes in muscle development and improve my overall physique. I highly recommend Johnny! He is not intimidating at all... he makes you feel comfortable and explains each exercise and routine thoroughly. Not to mention, he is just an overall great guy! Thanks Man! There are not enough words to explain how happy I am to have found Sean as my personal trainer at Always Strength Fitness. I have been working with him for ~ 4 months (3X a week for 30-60 min sessions) and I don't plan on stopping (unless Sean or I leave Boston :)) I found Sean on Thumbtack (after dealing with a few terrible Thumbtack trainer) and decided to "hire" him & continue our sessions for a number of reasons: 1) Sean has an Incredible Work Ethic and is an All Around Nice Guy- Sean is fully present during our sessions (not on his cell phone or taking selfies or multi-tasking). It helps me be accountable for showing up 100% during each session so I get THE MOST out of each and every workout. 2) Deeply Knowledgeable about Fitness, how the body works/functions, dealing with previous ailments & injuries, mind-body connection, etc - I had two injuries that I was working through and serious muscle imbalances that were getting in the way of being able to advance my strength training progress. Due to our workouts, I have consistently gotten stronger mentally & physically on all levels. Every day activities like carrying my 40 lbs son down a hallway with two giant bags of groceries to doubling the # of Harvard stadium steps in 30 min vs. when I first started working with Sean-- all have seen drastic improvements (night & day) in my endurance and strength. My body is no longer breaking down because Sean is helping me regain strength where I need it, building up strength where I can, and guiding me step-by-step to be even stronger. 3) The coolest part about our workouts is how strong mentally I've grown through our sessions, which has benefits for me in all aspects of my life. When I started working with Sean, I was super insecure about my "lack of fitness, strength, and ability"-- I was never an athlete or active as a kid. Every time I work with Sean and start a new workout, I swear on my life, before the reps, that there is absolutely no way I can complete the workout that he has laid out for me. But somehow with his guidance, positive reinforcement, and million-dollar smile, I do-- even with more reps, more weight, more difficulty, etc. I find myself mentally becoming stronger with each work out and being able to apply that new mental strength to everyday stresses and challenges at work and life. 3) Convenient location & logistics - Always Strength Fitness is conveniently located in Brighton/Allston with covered parking. They have all the equipment and tools to give you a comprehensive workout, regardless of your goals. Finding a time to train with Sean was easy and he's pretty easy to get a hold of and coordinate logistics, etc week to week, which I appreciate. There are definitely so many other reasons why you should work with Always Strength Fitness-- the ones I listed above are unique to what I was looking for, which I 100% found in working with Sean. If you have other goals that maybe I didn't list in my review, I am pretty sure Sean or any of the trainers with Always Strength Fitness will find a way to help you reach them without a sweat.
I spent my adult life actively focused on fitness...but in the last 2 years, due to work pressures, I was unable to dedicate time, or motivate myself, to remain conditioned. I was referred to Debi, and I thought I'd give it a few months and evaluate. That was almost a year ago, and I can't imagine missing my workouts with Debi. I am in better shape than I ever have been. My family and friends can see it, and the strength training has helped me overcome chronic aches and pains - what a great and unexpected benefit! Debi's workouts are HARD - but fun, and never dull. I'm happily addicted and I can't wait to see what the next year of training will bring.

Janey is amazing. His enthusiasm, professionalism and fun attitude completely changed my perspective on personal training. For less than two months, I have developed so much confidence on weight training/ interval training and really started to see results of my training. My legs have gotten much stronger and I have lost two pounds of fat in exchange for muscles. Most importantly, I have developed a habit of going to the gym even outside our personal training sessions. Matt has been training me 2x per week for the past 4 months. I went to Matt because I hadn't ever worked out in a gym on my own and wanted to learn how to build strength, lose body fat and create good habits. Matt is an excellent trainer, making sure that I'm using proper form, that I'm mentally and physically supported, encouraged and yet pushed hard. Every time I walk into the gym, I know that Matt will challenge me...but I also have a sense of accomplishment and pride because he doesn't set me up to fail. Slowly but surely I'm seeing the results and now I love going to the gym. The workouts are hard, but it feels so good! I just signed up for another 4 months under Matt's tutelage. I would highly recommend Matt as a trainer to anyone looking to get healthy through hard work!
Jim helped me feel confidant and healthy for my summer wedding! I am an exercise obsessed 27 year old. When I came to Jim I was bored of my routine and looking for an extra push to feel my best for my upcoming wedding. Jim taught me a new skill set using weights and interval cardio training. For years I was only focused on cardio, never aware of the toning and strength that weight training provides. Jim was an excellent teacher, he was flexible, knowledgable and prepared. I would recommend him to anyone no matter your needs and fitness experience.
The training improved my strength drastically! My bench went from 225 to over 300! And squat went ablve 400! It helped me to improved my strength for football which helped improve my overall game. I was faster, stronger, and more explosive. I recommended the program to many of my friends and they all saw great improvements as well! Great overall program!
Danielle has been especially good at creating a program tailored to my specific needs. I have osteoporosis and previous shoulder injuries and she is well educated in these conditions. Both I and my doctors feel confident training under her supervision and have seen great improvements in my strength and overall health. I find that she is more knowledgeable than gym trainers I've used in the past and I highly recommend her.
I trained with Tom for over two years, working on weight loss, strength training, and distance running. I really loved working with Tom and would recommend him highly. He always kept the variety good so workouts were never boring, and he was great at tailoring the program to my personal objectives which evolved over time. Critical to my success, Tom did a great job of combining both training with teaching effective stretches and corrective exercises that kept me healthy and injury-free, even as I picked up running longer distances for the first time, eventually completing my first marathon. Also, especially at the start, I was pretty remedial in my physical abilities – overweight and out of shape. But Tom never made me feel judged or inferior. If you want someone intelligent, professional, and motivating to work with, even if you’re just getting started, I would definitely recommend giving Tom a try.
Hector has been great! My wife has had three sessions so far and feels that he has her on the right track. He has worked with her on nutrition as well as doing interval strength training. I will have my wife review Hector after a month and see how she feels. So far, so good.

I started working with Chad almost a year ago because I was struggling to transition from the power lifting workouts I did as a college athlete to more "normal" workouts. I knew that I wanted to get into better shape cardiovascularly and lose some of the bulky muscle I put on in college. Chad worked with me to develop a program that incorporated high intensity cardio along with more toning strength exercises. He's really helped me refine my workouts to what really works for me!
I came to Paul as a marathon runner and golfer that needed to gain some muscle mass and speed while maintaining flexibility and Paul helped me develop a body specific custom strength and conditioning program to match my needs and goals. I've been working with him for over ten years now and appreciate that he tailors his workouts around my current activity levels in other sports or other life or health issues rather than offer a cookie cutter approach like so many others. I have nothing but praise for my coach Suzanne Horgan. Im an extreme high A person, meaning Im naturally self motivated and driven. I love working out during the week and road-biking 50 to 100 miles on the weekends. Eight months ago I drove myself too hard and completely tore my right patella tendon during a workout and was off my knee for five months. I hired Suzanne as my coach to help me rehabilitate myself to get back into top-notch shape; my right leg muscles had atrophied and my overall training had waned. Suzanne took time to research and design the best training program for me; then coached me, pushed me and drove me in ways that I couldnt begin to think of on my own each time we trained. Suzanne would also leave me with training instructions to follow until we our next training session. Its been three months since Suzanne started coaching me and I am very happy to say that her expert skills in coaching and training has gotten me back to full physical fitness. Two weeks ago I took a visit to California and climbed 4000 feet up a mountain on my road bike and it was as if I had not missed a beat. Im three months ahead of where I should be in healing process and physical fitness and as an added bonus Im now getting washboard abs; this was something that I was never able to accomplish on my own. I attribute much of my success to the thoughtful, hard nose, kick my butt training that I received from Suzanne. Shes an awesome coach.
