We recently moved from Laurel, MD to Middle River, MD. David Church was very responsive and answered all of our questions. The day of the move went smoothly and the team of movers even showed up about 30 minutes early. They took great care in moving our furniture and even wrapped each piece because it was raining. We would definitely recommend this company to our family/friends and will be using them again when we are ready for our next move.

I have heard many good things about Baku Moving from my friends. Last week I moved to my new apartment and I used them for my move. When I called them and talked with the sales rep, I was expecting a lot because of the recommendations from my friends. Well they did not let me down. The movers were superb during the entire move. They were very punctual, fast and accurate. They managed to deliver a very efficient move in no time. They also charged me less than the other movers I have used in the past that overcharged me. I have decided to use them from now onwards whenever I need to relocate.

If I were able, I would give Zebna Movers even more stars than 5!! Every element of their performance was second to none! From my initial inquiry to the last box moved, both management & the movers were knowledgeable, courteous, professional at every turn. The move that was required was a unique situation; taking some pieces and leaving others, difficult stairways, etc and I could not have had a more stress-free experience! I would recommend Zebna Movers to Everyone!!

The movers were actually almost 10 minutes early (AWESOME), I went through and showed them what had to be moved and they got started. Boxed up some things for me as well that I didn't have boxes for, wrapped furniture so I didn't have to unload drawers. They were quick and efficient.

We moved 8 days before Christmas 2016. We had movers come on a Friday to pack and load us. It was a two day drive to our new home with a baby. The movers arrived Monday morning to off load us get everything placed. (THIS WAS A THREE DAY TURNAROUND) We had a second drop off at a storage unit. The moving guys were as professional and curious as it gets. Rose was great, and this move was planned and excuted to profection. Highly recommend if you need honest, reliable movers. Zero damage.

The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because when scheduling my move, it was very difficult to get ahold of anyone and I didn’t actually hear back and get confirmation for my appointment until the day before. The actual day of the move was fantastic though! The movers were on time, friendly and did a great job!

Needed a large refrigerator moved from A to B, up 3 flights of stairs and into a small apartment. Clearly the most outstanding, efficient, courteous and well-equipped movers I have ever had the pleasure doing business with. If you need movers, there's no one better!

The movers were on time (early even). They were very careful with all my items. Did a great job packing everything into a storage facility for short term. The move took longer than hoped but that is mostly due to the length of the building which I was moving out of. There was a lot of walking from my unit to the elevator and then from the elevator to the loading dock. Movers were very patient with all of this and did a great job. When I find a new place I will use HaulPROZ to move from storage to the new house.

Greg was great at responding quickly to all my inquiries and providing a quote within hours from my request. Although there was a misunderstanding about timing, Greg managed to still have the movers show up within the time frame. The 2 movers did an exceptional job, they were super fast and had to carry a couch to a basement, down a very narrow stairway.

Great experience with Moving with us. These guys arrived on time, packed everything and got my belongings to my new place safely. I was very weary because I have expensive items and sentimental items. Instead of doing the move myself I decided to try a moving company and was recommended to these guys by a friend. And he was right, the movers were professional and very reliable. One of the movers told me he'd been doing this work for over 6 years, so these guys are experienced and top notch. Nothing was damaged, nothing stolen. I will definitely be using their services again!

OSSL Movers did a great job moving me from my one bedroom loft apartment to another one bedroom loft apartment in June. They had to deal with moving my large furniture up and down three flights of stairs on a hot day without any issue and in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend them to others and use their services again!

This crew of movers and packers are PHENOMENAL!!! They were able to pack my 5 bedroom house and move everything literally last minute for me. I had a 2 day last minute deadline that had my wife and I running around in a panic. We spoke with Ana, who was very assuring. She coordinated everything from start to finish. The packers were extremely friendly and attentive to our high demands. The movers were also friendly and moved like machines, thank you Jayson. I know good movers are hard to find, especially @ the last minute. Im very thankful that we found Move Logic. I highly recommend this team.

Pick Up Movers handled our last move very professionally. They gave us a very reasonable quote which they stuck to in the end. The movers were great. They packed up all our belongings in no time and then loaded everything onto the truck. They were quite literally in and out of our house on the moving day. They delivered everything on time and I was glad to see that none of our things suffered any damages. The movers even helped us unpack and assemble the furniture. It really turned out to be the easiest move possible.

I honestly can’t say enough about my experience with this company. I sold some furniture to a woman via an internet website. She used this company as her movers. I immediately noticed how fast, hard working and thorough they were. I had recently moved and used movers that struggled with everything and took 12 hours to move me to a 2 bedroom condo. These guys were done in 3 hours and they made 2 trips for her!! I needed a junk removal service to finish clearing out my home. The same day that these guys were moving the woman’s things for her, the junk removal guys showed up. These guys moved a house full of furniture for the woman for less than $250! They moved a washer and dryer, large sectional with recliner, separate living room set, separate love seat, a long dining room table, pub table, office desk, several pictures. Sooooo many things. It took 2 trips and their truck is huge. Meanwhile, the junk removal guys show up and did more talking than anything. They removed a kiddie bed and a queen bed and charged me $360! They also tried to hustle me by suggesting they use a dumpster that was $500 base price! The labor was separate. I would have paid over $1500 to have my things removed. I paid the junk guys and vowed to write a review about how they swindled me. They didn’t even complete the job. They said they had other jobs and would come back another day. I was so upset. I asked this business if they could help me instead. He agreed and only charged me $150!!! They cleaned out my entire basement, upstairs and every single room including the garage! I paid extra because they were so kind and extremely extremely fast!! Please use this company. You won’t be disappointed. I can’t say enough great things about them. Good honest workers who don’t hustle people or rip them off. I’ll alwsys use them.

Excellent movers, heavy lifters, and all around good men. They were able to get a washer/dryer combo unit up very narrow and winding stairway in my small city rowhome. Very difficult job done well. Highly recommend.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

  • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
  • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
  • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
  • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
  • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
