I am giving you guys a 5 star for the responsiveness you guys have shown and the knowledge you guys have expressed. Your references are impressive. Thank you for visiting my property on such short notice and explaining the procedure to go with the project. Your ideas and the Architect's thoughts are mindblowing. I will recommend you guys to my associates. Keep up the good work boys. I will be needing your services for my rental properties soon after this project is completed.
Charlie and his team were great; however, make sure you come to agreement on price prior to him and his team start working. Do not rely on the quote that you receive on Thumbtack. Charlie, you should go to your client's home, build a formal quote, and make it very clear to future clients what the cost will be before you start work.
Norman forgot his appointment to install a bedroom door but came the next day to install it. He was courteous and got the job done in half a day. Will certainly use him again for other projects. He came to estimate the cost before actual installation and it was way above his original quote. Job well done!
Kelvin was very nice and professional. The only reason I'm docking him a star is because he got a flat tire and was late. I'm not upset that he got a flat tire, but he didn't even let me know until I reached out to him 20 minutes after he was supposed to show up. He was very efficient and saved us a ton of money. He fixed our toilet with a rubber band and fixed our bleeder valve by using a seal from another bleeder valve. The entire fix cost only $2.50 and he didn't charge us for that. All in all I'm pretty happy with Kelvin, and would definitely call him for any other problems.
This company deserves overall a Zero! I hired them to help me move my 1 bedroom apartment from MD to DC. I should have cancelled it from the very beginning when they wanted to charge me extra money for using my credit card vs cash!!?? Moving day: The time for arrival was set for 4 pm. The owner kept on postponing the arrival time with various stories why they were being late. I told them we needed to be at my building by 8pm as that was the end of the moving in time window and the building loading dock was closing at that time. I send several texts and tried calling multiple times to the company. They arrived close to 7 pm. WE arrived at my building late. I had to waste my time looking for a security guard who was kind enough to cooperate with us and let us use another loading dock which was a real hike to my entrance ( another extra hour wasted) . My plants were broken and I feared other items did too. And I was right. I demanded discount for the service and to be also reimbursed for the broken items. we negotiated discount and as I was tired and frustrated i agreed to 15% off. As for the reimbursement, I was told to send them all the photos of broken items and estimated cost. I did. Even after a number of emails and phone calls and almost 2 and a half months after the service, I have not been reimbursed yet. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
Ryan and his team did an excellent job with a total roof repair. Will be my first call for any other roofing issues.
Within a few minutes of posting my job, I received a prompt response from Jerry. After another few minutes I booked with him. He came to my house next day and worked diligently on the job that we agreed to. At that point it was realized that the job was bigger than we originally thought and a subsequent appointment was made for a very modest increase in cost. Will definitely use Jerry again for any plumbing issues that I have in the future.
Jenrri and his crew came in and fixed a botched kitchen cabinet install job. He was responsive and worked within the estimated time frame he gave me. They installed the cabinets, appliances, and countertops quickly and professionally and worked quickly (and kept me informed) to remedy any setbacks along the way. Great work quality and the cost was very reasonable for the DC/NoVa-area.
Jose and his team were great! We had had water damage on our ceiling caused by a leak from the condo above us. The ceiling was extremely wet and cracked, and water was dripping down onto the floor. Jose and his team fixed our ceiling in no time, taking extra care to ensure the patched area was seamless with the rest of the ceiling. He even painted our window trim and re-stained an area of our floor at no additional cost. Great work, will definitely hire again!
Quick to respond. Provided an estimate and completed the work the next day. I am very pleased with the job.
Got the job done for a reasonable cost. Thanks.
Saul was contracted to paint my condo for upcoming showings. He was quick and attentive to what needed to be done versus what could be done, keeping cost reasonable. I plan on using him again for other projects.
David Alan took hold of the situation, figured out what needed to be done at the least possible cost while still delivering a quality job, and did it -- making a personal sacrifice of working on a holiday to meet the deadline we needed.
American Home & Hardscape did a nice job on our backyard rennovation. Richard was very responsive and easy to get a hold of, and his team is highly skilled and hard-working. The cost of the project was higher than most other bids, which largely appears due to overhead costs, but the quality is there. The team needs proper direction to ensure a thorough and complete job but they were flexible, easy to work with, and made sure I was satisfied.
I am so glad we selected MJ Home Services LLC for our home's basement waterproofing project. We listed the project on Thumbtack and had 3 companies respond, MJ Homes Services was one of them. One of the other companies came with a complicated and insulting sales process, that had us spending two hours looking at few brochures and lots of out of business company records of former competitors while recommending options to leave our basement busted up with another project to renovate. MJ Homes Services was different. Apart from being the first to respond and show up for a free inspection, they were very professional and studied our home's problems in detail. They were genuinely interested in solving the problem, once and for all rather than just earning the business. They came out twice for pre project assessment. The owner of the company, John, came and lead the design of the solution to remedy our flooding problems. The solution was comprehensive tackling the problem from all directions e.g. Competitive French Drain Network, Landscape Grading, Awning Construction, Sump Pump flow redirection, Concrete Patio Demolition, Surrounding Neighbor Water Flow Analysis etc. When the project started, just like most constructions, the crew ran into issues with valid grounds for variation. Rather, Brian and the team under John's leadership took the professional route to honor their commitment to working within our budget. In fact, the crew were so professionally that they made innovative design and construction choices should have costed us about 5 thousands dollars more for the project. I could not help but think what would have happened if we went with the other company. They would have been so rigid on the approach and inflexible with scope. I have no doubt in my mind that MJ Homes Services was a God sent answer to our home's basement floodings problem because we had spent thousands over the years on different remedies including a complicated sump pump system with another company to no avail. Finally, when it comes to being responsiveness and customer delight, Melissa of MJ Home Services is the Queen of it. She kept us up to date before, during and at project completion. During the project, it was on a day-to-day basis. She was also able to work with the crew to achieve a scope that's truly above contract. I am very grateful to have MJ Homes Services work on our home project. I will certainly look forward to any opportunity to use their services in future.
Had a small but challenging project! Challenging due to my walls being terribly uneven and the project of putting up crown molding and making it look like perfection is a task!! Well AB Solutions made 'Perfection' happen!!! They were on time...in fact a little early...friendly...professional...and my Living Room and Hallway Crown Molding is simply amazing!! I have many future projects I would love to see done in my home that he looked over for me...gave me ideas about these future projects that I had not even considered! Offered cost saving options and creative new solutions!! My future projects include carpeting, kitchen remodel & some landscaping that is desperately needed!! THEY DO IT ALL!!! They leave their workspace spotless after they are finished your project like they weren't even there!! AB Solutions and my home will certainly have a long standing remodel relationship!! Thanks a million once again for a job well done!! It was a pleasure working w/your team!! Kudos!! 😊
Ixin and his helper installed crown moulding in a bedroom and 2 bathrooms. He arrived for an estimate and told me exactly how much moulding to buy and what the labor cost would be. He arrived the next day on time and did a great job installing the moulding. He even painted it for a discounted price. They were done with the whole job in 8 house and left the house very clean. I would highly recommend Ixin and will use him for future projects.
Mark is a true professional. I selected him after having many electricians give estimates. His price was competitive; however, the deal clincher was his follow through and knowledge of his craft. The final cost was exactly what he estimated. When the job was completed he thoroughly walked me through all that he did. To top it off, the work area was clean. I would definitely recommend Mark to anyone who inquires about an electrician.
Initially my reason for contacting Deck Professionals (DP) was to have a patio installed but because of the size of the patio and materials I wanted, I was unable to afford the patio at this time. However, after sitting with the salesperson who came out, we were able to decide on having a deck constructed/installed at a very reasonable cost. Unfortunately, the staff constructing the deck did not speak English and therefore, there was little to no communication which resulted in some problems which were not resolved even after contacting DP with my concern. My garage door which I opened with a remote so workers could store tools or supplies is apparently broken because the workers some how pulled the door down without the remote and now the garage door does not open. The workers told their supervisor they did not close the door, but there was no one in my home except me. At the end of the day, when I went out to check on the guys they were gone and the garage door was down. I attempted to use the remote to open the garage door but it did not budge. I contacted DP on two occasions regarding my concerns. They never sent anyone out to investigate the issue and the staff supervisor never came by to even inspect the deck after it was completed. I felt if he came by I could point out some minor issues I had with the deck as well as discuss the garage door and come to some resolution. While I have homeowner's insurance I do have to pay a deductible and I explained this to DP but have received no response or assistance. I am not mechanically inclined and thought maybe the issue with the garage door could be something minor and possibly the supervisor could correct the problem but he never contacted me. The deck looks great and I have received several compliments. My four issues: 1) Non English speaking staff working and I was unable to communicate with them. 2) Garage door broken by staff, they denied breaking or using the door. No assistance or corrective action taken to resolve the issue or satisfy me as a customer. 3) Supervisor for staff came to my property on one occasion which was to initially bring staff to discuss the location of the deck to be installed. 4) Once deck was completed "NO ONE" came out to do a final inspection of the deck or to formally speak with me with regard to my broken garage door. I honored my contract and paid the entire cost of the deck. However, DP did not ensure the Supervisor came out to investigate my concern with my garage door or to perform an inspection of the deck. I can only say if you do not speak Spanish, you should request that someone speaking English fluently be onsite at all times because none of the workers could communicate with me. I actually used an online translator to instruct the workers to use the side door of the garage.
I had Cesar come by and provide an estimate for a project in my kitchen. I ended up going another route on that particular project, but I did end up hiring him to help get my basement squared away. I had a wash basin for my washing machine to drain in to and some homemade plumbing that worked , but look like, well, homemade plumbing. I am getting ready to sell my house and wanted to tidy up the wash area of the basement. Cesar showed up on time for the original estimate, completed the project on time and within budget, and overall, this was a great experience. I will be hiring Cesar for any future needs.
Approximate Cost: $45,000.00 Description Of Work: Total remodel of third floor master bath, small addition and remodel of second floor bath to add shower, moving laundry from basement to second floor, painting, general repairs, structural repairs. Member Comments: Larry is a character! When we first started asking contractors about our renovation project, everyone was excited and optimistic . . . until they brought out a tape measure. We have a tiny downtown rowhouse and as it turns out there was almost no way to fit what we wanted (a second shower and laundry room) into the footprint of the house. Larry was the only one we talked to who could figure out a creative (our CHAP rep said "innovative") way to do what we wanted to do within our price constraints. Larry listened to our needs and budget and really made it work. And we love our remodeled house! The job was not perfectly "seamless." There were little details that went unnoticed without a few reminders, and a couple of things that either needed to be fixed or redone. As with any contract, it is very very important to be clear up front on the scope of work and budget for fixtures, etc. or you may end up in a Home Depot in the middle of the night looking for the only faucet in your range. And paperwork is not Larry's forte, so if you are doing something like a 203k prepare for some emails for documents, etc. However, in the end I can say that Larry took on and worked with us through a very complicated job, complete with 203k delays, complex permitting, surprise structural repairs, and various long standing leaks. Larry's crew was up well into the night getting the job done so we could move back in on time, and returned to fix an ongoing gutter leak until it was right. The work is beautiful and really adds to the value and functionality of our house. And Larry was very responsive to our cost constraints and concerns, and returned texts and emails promptly. And I truly appreciate all of the work that he did for us to ensure that we were able to meet a tight budget for a lovely home.
