Fantastic workmanship, great job all around. Very professional, knowledgeable on all subjects around technology and home theater. I'll definitely be calling for them to install my surround sound once I get it. They did an awesome job with my 60 inch wall mount!Mar 15, 2015VerifiedCable ConneXions LLC ( Rated Best Pro in MD)'s reply

I recently had my TV mounted by Cable Connexions (CC) along with a lot of cable, HDMI, etc and a rack mounted. The work was decent. NOT GREAT, but decent. The most frustrating part is that a number of things changed from when I got the estimate to when I paid the bill. Here's a list of just some: 1. James told me, "we won't put any hole in the wall except the one behind the TV for the wall plate." They put 2 holes in the living room wall in addition to the wall plate. 2. James said that labor was $65/hour. During the installation he told me that labor was $75/hour. 3. He quoted me a price for a cabinet of $450. On my bill he charged me $475. When I questionioned him about it . . . after scrambling and trying to figure out the answer he then says "well, uhhh, uhhh, it's because I don't charge tax. The $475 includes tax." There were some other issues with the install: I was charged $189 for a sound bar install. That consisted of plugging it in (to a receptacle that we specifically discussed making a recessed receptacle) and running a small optical cable about 2 ft behind a wall (which I specifically mentioned that I could and would do. The price for getting it plugged in and the 4 minutes to run the cable, $189. 2. James didn't have some of the drill bits or tools he needed. That prompted an hour trip to Home Depot (glad I'm paying $75/hr . . . vs. the $65 he originally quoted). 3. I paid $90 per 35' HDMI cable. High quality HDMI 35' HDMI cables can be purchased for $40. I'm sure they would be less in bulk, which he would buy them. The markup on equipment was like buying food or souvenirs at Disney World. 4. Lastly, my bill had ~$180 charge for installing an X-Box kinnect. I didn't have that installed . . . and we had to adjust the bill. In full disclosure, my install was difficult. An older home that had been completely remodeled, brick exterior with triple studs in the outside walls. Additionally, James did run 2 extra cables to my living room and DID NOT charge me for them. I felt that made the $189 sound bar install about even. And we did go over the bill line for line -- HE DID NOT try to get me to pay without reviewing or agreeing. In summary, if you are getting a home theater installed I would recommend using someone else. I think you will get about the same quality of work but probably pay less.Aug 23, 2013VerifiedCable ConneXions LLC ( Rated Best Pro in MD)'s reply
Thank you Rob for such a broad review! I would like to confirm a few things in response to your review. Th origanal estimate did not state the price was ecact. This is why we all call a estimate A ESTIMATE". It is a round about price what the project may cost. We charged you accordinly to what was completed. We never stated we would charge you $65.00 a hour as we only give that pricing to clients that spend atleast 10K. You where advised that there would be atleast two hole to complete the concealment part of the wire installation 1. Behind the TV where the wire will come out of to got o the TV. AND 2. next to the electric outlet near the floor to drill our hole for our wires to go to the basement. Which we did. Then after getting into the installation we discovred the whole room was triple studded which put a twist on the whole install. Then i advised you was had to drill a hole. In no way shape or form did you tellus not to continue once we advised you of this change. This had to be done to complete this installation at that point. Yes we had to drill a round hole this was the only way to do it. WE PATCHED ALL HOLES and had them ready for paint as we discused at the very beginning of the project as promised. Yes i did tell you that we wouldnt have to put any hole except" Yes we told you there woukldnt be any hole except TWO which we did cut first then determined you had a eregular wall with triple studs. BEFORE we cut an addional whole you where advised of this change WHERE YOU? or WHERE YOU NOT? You could of simply stated you didnt want any addional holes and we could of stoped the whole installation! The bottum line is you wanted this a certain way and the only way to get this project completed with concealing of wires was to cut a addional hole in which we did. We patched and the wqhole job turned out great. If I may add this realy put a wrench in our whole day as it took 3 hrs more then planned because of the wall being triple studded. Let me say that another company would of kept cutting holes to make it easier for the installation. We actually made it harder by not cutting more holes. Lets keep in mind when holes are cut they can be patched and painted to where you would never know they where ther. NO BIG DEAL! The cabinet we installed you where charged 475.00 YES, I had on the estimate 450.00 lets keep in mind when i gave you this quote the cabinet was on sale , this is exactly what i told you. MIND YOU I never asked for one dime up front for this whole project untill it was 100% completed and everything was installed. I had alot of money floating on your job, and lost even more with having to spend more hours on this trying not to cut more holes. Yes you paid 90.00 for 35ft pro grade HDMI cables which you had no problem with when I gave you the estimate. WHY complain now? If you were not happy with the price of the cables you should of purchased your own cables from amazon mind you that most of them are JUNK". We are in this to make money NOT give materials away. We made 18.00 per cable just to confirm. SORRY for making a profit. We actually charged you 189.00 for a custome sound bar installation. We never discused you wanting a electrical outlet moved,I would have remembered this as we do not work on electric. I would of had a electrician come in to do this and that would of bean on the quote as well. SO I definetly didnt aggree to move No outlet. Our price is our price. Unfortunetly we could not put the sound bar cable behind the wall because it was not UL listed. You find this type of issue normally with cheep generic electronics. So yes the only thing we had to do was fisch a digital optical cable threw the wall.and we GAVE you a 3 way tilting adaptor. We did take off the charge for the X box Kinnect as the xbox was the older version and did not support USB. I am so glad we are able to leave a response to our review because this lets others that may read these that its real> and at the end of the day soemtimes you cant make everyone HAPPY. But we do most as you can see. Sometimes we get stuck with people that all they want to do is complain. ASLO KEEP IN MIND WE GET WHAT WE PAY FOR IN LIFE bOTTUM LINE......
Hired this company for a $12,000 home theater job in September 2016 and I'm still trying to get them to fix their mistakes over three months after the job was "finished". The final labor cost ended up being twice their original estimate. The last day they installed the in-wall subwoofers -- the technician admitted he completely screwed up the drywall while he was in the house. You can see the poor quality in the photos, there is a clear outline bubble where the drywall was cut and patched. After complaining and sending photos to the owner, he admitted that it looked bad but recommended that I split the cost with him to hire a professional to fix it. After further complaining, he agreed to come and fix it himself -- it's been months now and I've just been told that it will be a few more months before he comes to fix it.Jan 20, 2017Cable ConneXions LLC ( Rated Best Pro in MD)'s reply
Greetings Mark, I just wanted to clarify that these issues you had were resolved and you we compensated. Thumbtack would not allow you to adjust your review even know I wasn't contacted before the review was left. James
Home Theater System Installation or Replacement
I was pleased from the beginning when I first spoke with James to discuss my needs and discuss the specifics of the price quote, which I thought was very reasonable. Although my installation was really late (scheduled for 12-4 but didn't show up until 8:15) I was very satisfied with the work. The Tech explained what happened at the previous job and that it was in Richmond, about 2 1/2 hrs from Bowie. He was very apologetic and worked with me to make up for my inconvenience. He was very professional, quick and did a great job! I would definitely reuse this company again and highly recommend them.Jan 4, 2014VerifiedCable ConneXions LLC ( Rated Best Pro in MD)'s reply

- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?15 years and Growing!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?Myself as the president have been in the industry for 13 years and counting. Growing up as a kid i always would take apart my electronics to to how they functioned. I would even try to test certain components to see the functionality behind it. I just found it cool and interesting to learn more. Its my passion to do this work. I go to sleep at night thinking about how I'm going to make the job the next day different then any other, trying to advance in a whole different time line in the industry. I often figure out solutions to many problems in the morning as soon as i open my eyes. Just like today i woke up went out side to get some fresh air as i always do every morning and asked myself "What do i do if a TV has a broken RF connection on the back of it and need another solution to fix it". I found myself the answer. I also asked myself why didn't i think of this sooner. Well like i said in another paragraph the system is only as good as the design,Behind every good system is great thought. This is why i have the clients i have because i believe there are more then one solution too every application and that is why i take time and think things out to help my clients meat there budget.
