Party Favor Photo was so much fun to have at our wedding reception! They were punctual and set everything up with no issues at all. They were completely professional and very easy to communicate with in the days leading up to our wedding, and they had all of our digital photos available for viewing the day after the event, which was faster than I expected! Our guests loved having both the photobooth prints and the digital versions available for viewing, and the pictures turned out really well. One thing I appreciated beyond words is that the photobooth attendant flagged my husband and I down at the end of the night, right after our send-off, and told us that we should do a quick shoot in the photobooth since we hadn't had a chance to do so over the course of the very busy and hectic night. That was so sweet and thoughtful, and we both appreciated her thinking of that for us. I had no complaints and wouldn't hesitate to use them again, or recommend them!

Greg was a wonderful photographer for my wedding reception. Not only was he on time, professional and responsive in the time leading up to the event, but the photos I received at the end of the project were top notch and EXACTLY what I had hoped for. He captured many moments I wouldn't have otherwise had. I'd absolutely recommend him for any event and would gladly hire him again.

First if all, I am hard to impress and easily the most critical perfectionist Ive met to date, and I can speak in absolutes to say that hiring and working with Josh was THE BEST experience of my life. Choosing Josh was a no-brainer to me after seeing his work, but working with him was even more impressive than I could've imagined.... We were running behind on the big day and he made us feel so calm... he literally felt like family while remaining professional the entire time. Josh was almost like a ninja capturing moments without being recognized, and somehow disguising crowds of hundreds of people in the busiest parts of D.C. To create solitude glory. He has vision, can provide instruction, and remain virtually in-invasive as possible while capturing the most special moments. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that my husband and I both agree, without Josh we wouldn't be able to remember the most special day of our life the way we can now. If you're looking for TOP NOTCH wedding photography with the most kind, understanding, accommodating, and professionally skilled photographer on the eastern coast, Josh is your guy. Thanks again for making my day perfect. Signed, A hard to please but happy bride (and groom)! 🙌🏽

We hired Ronnie for our wedding photography needs. From the moment we met him he made us feel comfortable and ensured he would get our vision and day captured flawlessly. On the big day he delivered. His jokes, spirit and energy kept me smiling all day. He was patient with the family and guests and our photo hour ran smoothly. He directed and posed us and worked well with the mixed personalities of our wedding party. His team was there for every moment yet unnoticed. He surprised us with a couple print outs during the reception and the pics were beautiful. If those are any indication of the final product I'm sure we will love them. We have to thank 95Images for their positive energy, professionalism, and expertise! They truly felt like family instead of a wedding vendor. Hire them for your next event. Highly recommended!

Laurie photographed our wedding in June 2012 and spent about 8 hours with us that day. She took the time a few weeks before hand to discuss our vision with us and even made a separate trip to our church to plan out some spots on the grounds. We loved that her style did not have the typical static wedding photography look, and that she had more of a photojournalistic approach. From the candid shots of the bride and her girls getting ready and all the action the dance floor at the reception, to the cherished posed photographs with our families, Laurie was able to capture our day perfectly. She is passionate about what she does and it shows through in every one of the 750+ photos she took that day. We would recommend her to anyone who wants a unique approach and an amazing vision from a photographer for any special event.

I am so happy that we found Ilya to do the videography for our wedding ceremony. He was responsive and professional from the beginning and willing to work within the restrictions set forth by our church. We received the edited video within a mere days of our wedding so we were able to enjoy and relive during our honeymoon! Ilya was wonderful to work with and I will definitely contact again for any future projects.

Ronnie, from Pretty Elektrik Company was amazing. My husband and I searched for awhile to find a videographer that was both in our price range and shot quality footage. Let me tell you, the second part was a difficult find regardless of the price range you looked at. Somehow we lucked out and found Ronnie. We checked out all of this past videos and loved them all. From his sweeping shots, to his editing, we knew that he was the videographer that we wanted to film our wedding, and lucky for us he also fell within our price range. Ronnie made time to meet with us before the wedding and work with some of our other vendors. He collaborated with our DJ to capture sound from multiple sources so that we could get the best possible quality and he came to our venue walk thru so that he could get a feel for the place prior to the wedding day. Ronnie even requested bringing his wife as a second shooter (for no extra charge) during our ceremony, which allowed them to both capture me walking through the door and my husband's face upon seeing me for the first time. Ronnie has been exceptional since our wedding as well, offering to make edits to the video when we have wanted something taken out or included. You get it all when working with Ronnie. I can tell you that if we ever need a videographer again for anything, he will be the first person that we contact.

Title: Awesome Wedding Photographer Julie captured every amazing moment of my wedding. She made everyone feel at ease, making for the best candid and posed moments. She took a tight space and made it work with a creative thought process. She even got my rowdy wedding party to take direction for the best photos. She was on time, fun, efficient and super creative. "I can't recommend Candice and her team more! They consistently exceeded every expectation and then went even further with our event. As a wedding photographer with over 25 years in the business, they easily stand among the best I've ever dealt with. To trust them with my wedding was HUGE to me. After two email conversations between my fiance and Candice, I never asked another question. She had it ALL under control. Kudos to her and her team; easily someone I will champion as the best in the business!"

Unlike the standard $2000+ wedding photo offers we received, Metin understood that we were having a small, family wedding with limited needs and a limited budget. He met with us at the venue weeks before the event, then came on time and worked tirelessly for four hours to chronicle every moment of our ceremony and reception. We are very happy with the memories he provided us. Highly recommended.

I consulted with the sound engineer Adam about a project I had in mind for my wedding day. We went ahead and recorded 2 songs at his Howling Wolff studio. The results were very impressive and I'm extremely happy I selected him to work on my project. He was easy to work with, he listened to what I wanted and made every effort to produce the results I envisioned for my wedding night. He is also very reasonable when it comes to prices when compared with other studios around the area. I will definitely continue recording with Adam for my future projects.

sjsFoto was a miracle worker with editing photos from my brother’s wedding! We had a family photo that was beautiful, but missing my father. SjsFoto took a photo of my father from the same event and added him into the family photo. The quality was amazing and you’d never know the photo was edited. We now have a beautiful photo to display.

Heather is absolutely and utterly amazing!! She made my fiancé and I feel right at home and completely comfortable from the beginning of our engagement shoot; she is also an incredibly sweet and comforting individual - which made it easy to connect with her on personal levels. I still cannot believe how she was able to capture such intimate moments with a camera. Derek and I talked to Heather prior to our engagement shoot, and Heather was able to give us some amazing feedback on how to best go about this experience. Through the entire planning process, Heather was extremely quick to respond to any question - this allowed for great communication flow between us. We had never taken photos like this, so the fear of them being posed and awkward was the one major component that we wanted to avoid - we wanted to be candid, and let the pictures speak for themselves. As we walked around Boston, Heather was very communicative with us, while also allowing Derek and myself to have fun and be ourselves. When we got the photos back (in less than 24 hours after they were taken, I might add.... amazing speed and quality!!), we were amazed that Heather was able to capture such intimate moments between us. We immediately asked her if she would take photos of our wedding as well. With such amazing photos taken for our engagement shoot - the bar is set high for other photographers. We hope to continue to work with Heather for other life milestone photography sessions in the future. We wouldn't trust anyone else - she is simply phenomenal.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
