I speak Spanish so when i was learning to write an essay in English, it really was very difficult for me. I look for help, and i found Julissa!!!. She has very good techniques to teach :). She helped me to learn and understand. I recommend her, she is an excellent and patient teacher.
Resume writing - Jennifer applied quickly to my response and worked diligently to provide me a resume within a few short hours. She was understanding and completed it to my liking. Thank you
Kevin is a dynamic and effective educator. The indepth feedback that he provided to my son on his writing assignments this past school year is what I've been looking for from his private school teachers since grade school. Kevin has exceptional technical knowledge of grammar which is another area he is focusing on with my son as well as helping him to prepare for the PSAT. We started working with Kevin during the last two months of the 9th grade school year. It was awesome to see the pride my son felt in getting a 98% on his last paper of the year and reading his teacher's glowing comments. I am looking forward to seeing my son finally start the new school year ahead of the curve with getting the extra support that he needs. I can't say enough about how pleased I am with Kevin's services. As an educator I know that tutors like Kevin are hard to find.
Mr.Mougy Ahmed has been working with my son for the past 1 year and I believe he's the best tutor I have ever met. He's very sincere, extremely patient and works with my son with utmost dedication and love towards tutoring. My son likes him very much and I would truly recommend his services to anyone looking for Math tutoring.
I was really struggling with the math and reading sections on the SAT. I was contacted by Universal Design Tutoring and I couldn't be more thankful. I needed a high score to get into the college I was really hoping to get into because my gpa wasn't the greatest. My tutor was so knowledgeable and put things in lamens terms for me and I was able to get the score I needed. I'm so happy:) I would highly recommend their services.
I am writing in regards to my recent experience with Mr. Bruce Phillips. I requested his services to create a resume for a position for which I was applying. He not only wrote my resume, he also provided me with a lesson on business writing. He was patient, thorough, and quick to respond to my questions. I would highly recommend him to perform either the resume writing or the tutoring of any number of topics. He is well spoken and has the ability to teach in a way that is understandable.
Mrs Belle is a excellent tutor and my son loves meeting with her each week. His reading, writing along with other skills have improved. The progress showed on his class work and report cards. She is very caring. I highly recommend Mrs Belle.
Ms. Erin is a great Reading and Math Tutor!
Ms. Bowman is an excellent tutor who is committed to assisting children achieve their full potential, both academically and socially. As a former Co-Coordinator of the Saturday Tutoring Program sponsored by the Upsilon Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, I worked with Ms. Bowen for nearly 8 years. During this time, I personally observed her ability to work with elementary school students. She is highly qualified to teach math, reading comprehension and other subjects using novel and easy-to-learn methods that appeal to students at all grade levels. Her personal style and ability to relate to and communicate effectively with students allows her to establish a productive learning relationship with her students. Students are never talked down to nor does she become impatient with them. If someone does not grasp a concept, she simply begins again or tries another approach. Patient and observant, Ms. Bowman engages her students and seeks to get to know them on an individual basis. She encourages them to share their academic achievements as well as their challenges and defeats. By encouraging this type of interpersonal interaction, she is able to foster an environment where students are willing to work with each other, share their talents, and become more confident in their abilities. Ms. Bowman provides intellectually stimulating assignments that not only build upon the students existing knowledge base but also challenges them to develop the best approach for solving any academic issues they face. Her instruction is focused and results in a deepening of students study skills, confidence in asking for and receiving help, and academic mastery. As a direct result of her efforts, students who are failing or performing below grade level should experience marked improvement as evidenced by improved grades and performance on state assessment tests. Because of her teaching ability and commitment and dedication to the academic success of children, I highly recommend Ms. Bowman as a tutor. I believe that anyone engaging her services will find that they made the right decision. Tonya R. McCullough
I was referred by a friend who had found Yolanda through Thumbtack. She had such a wonderful experience, she passed her contact information along to me when I was looking for a reading tutor for my first grader. If you are looking for someone to just help your child through homework, a college tutor will do. If you are looking for someone to help your child really develop and progress, Yolanda is the perfect tutor for you. While her background and credentials are impressive, those things do not always equate to a having a good tutor. More than being a tutor, Yolanda will become your child's advocate alongside you. She is willing to go above and beyond to help your child and also always open and available to answer any questions or concerns you may have about your child. You will receive timely session updates on your child's progress so that you can really work with her to help your child. If you have any concerns about meeting online, let me assure you that the online experience is also wonderful. My son is actually more focused and has less distractions meeting online. He has his routine, getting his headphones on and getting the computer ready. He looks forward to his time with Ms. Yolanda! If you are serious about helping your child grow and develop, I would highly recommend Yolanda.
Dale was a great ACT tutor, especially when it came to teaching an international student the ins and outs of the Reading and Writing sections. Since we started working two weeks before the test date, Dale laid out a great strategy of drilling practice tests and helped us find our weak points to review. He had a great base of resources and experience to help us not only with tactics and test taking skills, but how we could apply these study techniques to a broad range of tests and classes.
Nancy Halsey has written grants for our organization for almost 10 years. She has exceptional writing and editing skills. After Nancy wrote a particular grant, the foundation called me to say it was the best well-written grant they had received. I have never received a phone call like that before. Nancy is professional and honest; she uses research and wisdom when writing grants and talking with employees. I highly recommend her for any writing opportunities that you may have. L. Bornstein, President & CEO
I've trusted Katie's keen eye and thoughtful critique with numerous professional and personal writing projects, including articles for publication, experimental poetry, and short fiction. In each circumstance, she was an enthusiastic and valuable guide, offering thoughtful criticism each step of the way. An accomplished and imaginative writer in her own right, I've always trusted Katie's unique insight when refining prose.
Michelle was extremely knowledgeable and had an immediate rapport with my daughter. The short term goal was to improve her grades in reading and language arts. Besides learning the material, my daughter became more open to the idea of using a tutor, and realized the benefit of doing so. You can really tell that Michelle loves kids and has a blast working with them, and that makes all the difference!
Mary worked with my son (a sophomore in high school) for nine weeks, and the change in my son's confidence with writing improved significantly. Starting in first grade he developed a dislike for writing, which over the years turning into almost a phobia. He was so intimidated by the process, that he would rather fail than turn in an essay. As a result, he never really learned HOW to write, and his anxiety increased. Mary worked with him, starting with the basics of how to map out and organize a persuasive essay. What took him hours before, he was able to accomplish in less than half an hour. It was very empowering, and helped him considerably with facing writing tasks. One thing that I didn't expect with a writing tutor was Mary's incorporation of subtle life coaching. She had him examine his motivations and his goals. They even did personality testing. I think it was very eye-opening for him to have the chance to look at himself from a different vantage point. Her approach is very supportive and validating. She knows what to ask to make you (both the student and the parent) feel important and interesting. Finally, one of the things I appreciated most as a parent, was that she sent me an email after every session detailing what they had done and explaining her plans for the next session. I can't recommend her highly enough.
Michelle volunteers with my organization by tutoring an elementary school student in reading. She is always on time, easy to communicate with, delivers lessons with accuracy, and has built a strong relationship with her student. I would especially recommend her for elementary age children -- she is patient and great at gentle redirection.

I am a teacher with 38 years of experience, mainly with middle school students. My focus is in the area of reading strategies, syllabication, decoding and basic English skills.
I am a current student and I understand the stress and confusion that school brings. I also charge WAY less than other tutors in the area because money isn't the primary goal of offering my help.
Tutoring - I am happy to tailor the tutoring experience to meet individual needs. I work together with students to create a plan for tutoring that may involve outside reading and "homework" assignments - if appropriate - to reinforce material covered in lessons. I am also adept at sensing when I may need to shift teaching methods or the pace of lessons for students and I encourage them to provide ongoing constructive feedback. Translations - I have been told that my translations get to the feel and intent of the original writing, beyond simply interpreting the literal meaning. Simply put, I take great care with my word choice in order to reflect the style, tone and subtlety of meaning conveyed by the author as closely as possible. Editing - I love that part of being a good editor is being a good teacher. I make recommendations to improve written material, and if I do my job well, the client learns something from the process. For example, perhaps they will gain insight on how to: make smooth transitions between paragraphs, provide sufficient evidence to support an argument, or reduce unnecessary words for clearer, more concise sentences.
I specialize in reading and Math. I've taught for 19 years. My clients increase their levels by 2 and 3 grades. I've been trained in Lindamood-Bell's Seeing Stars and Visualizing and Verbalizing.
