Julissa tutored my son in Math for part of his junior year of high school. There was a definite improvement in his grades. But Julissa did more than tutor him, she gave him study methods and relaxation methods for his test anxiety. She also discussed with him his plans for the future and gave advice on what he needed to do to achieve his goals. The location at the library in Parkville was perfect as a safe public place, but still afforded quiet working accommodations. I highly recommend Julissa as a tutor!

I could not seem to score well on the ACT. I ended up with Arbor Tutors and had a tutor who met me every week for 8 weeks and when I took the test and got an excellent score (33). Worth every cent.

Mr. Mougy Ahmed has done wonders as a math tutor for our sophomore son! He has a very agreeable, non-threatening tutoring style, and our son enjoyed working with him right away. Our son was getting D's and C's in Algebra II , even with the assistance of a previous math tutor. Mougy came to our house and immediately recognized where our son was misunderstanding foundational concepts in Algebra II, and worked with him to build up that knowledge base and apply those skills correctly. He has been highly responsive in setting up tutoring sessions, sending additional lessons/exercises via email, and even holding extra sessions in advance of math tests/quizzes. As a direct result of Mougy's tutoring, our son earned a B+ and an A on his last two math tests. We highly recommend him to any student or parent who is searching for tutoring assistance.

My 17 year old son is a fairly tough customer when it comes to interacting with academic support, fortunately for us, Will Spach happened to be our first experience with Varsity Tutors. Will definitely has a professional presence about him that earned him credibility with both my wife and I as well as my side early on in our first meeting. He immediately assessed my sons strength and weaknesses and was able to zero in on the tutoring plan that brought my son’s scores up by 200 points in 8-9 weeks. I highly recommend Will Spach for any high school each student looking to improve their college SAT scores. Mike

I was referred by a friend who had found Yolanda through Thumbtack. She had such a wonderful experience, she passed her contact information along to me when I was looking for a reading tutor for my first grader. If you are looking for someone to just help your child through homework, a college tutor will do. If you are looking for someone to help your child really develop and progress, Yolanda is the perfect tutor for you. While her background and credentials are impressive, those things do not always equate to a having a good tutor. More than being a tutor, Yolanda will become your child's advocate alongside you. She is willing to go above and beyond to help your child and also always open and available to answer any questions or concerns you may have about your child. You will receive timely session updates on your child's progress so that you can really work with her to help your child. If you have any concerns about meeting online, let me assure you that the online experience is also wonderful. My son is actually more focused and has less distractions meeting online. He has his routine, getting his headphones on and getting the computer ready. He looks forward to his time with Ms. Yolanda! If you are serious about helping your child grow and develop, I would highly recommend Yolanda.

Dale was a great ACT tutor, especially when it came to teaching an international student the ins and outs of the Reading and Writing sections. Since we started working two weeks before the test date, Dale laid out a great strategy of drilling practice tests and helped us find our weak points to review. He had a great base of resources and experience to help us not only with tactics and test taking skills, but how we could apply these study techniques to a broad range of tests and classes.

I started with her tutoring my 6 year old son in reading/writing he excelled after one report card quarter and was on grade level in no time! So I decided to face her tutor my 10 year old in Math even though he needed extra attention and modified work due to his learning disability ms P never gave up and remained professional always communicating with his teacher as well as myself and husband. He is now on grade level. Both of my boys have been tutoring with ms p for over a year! I like her style of teaching and her consistency. She really pushes my boys just enough!

Nancy is always punctual and prepared for teaching different lessons. She is a great listener and instructor since she is able to connect with students effectively when teaching various lessons. She uses different methods of teaching which helps students learn since they are responsive to the different techniques implemented. She is great colleague who is always helpful to others and maintains her priority on her students. I think that Nancy is always able to overcome any challenges that students face as she is always helpful and has had previous experience teaching students of all levels. I think that she has great work quality, that she is professional and she is always a pleasure to work with.

    About

As a Curriculum and Instruction (Writing) graduate student, I worked as a tutor of higher education writers and was able to reckon the gaps that existed in what the curriculum-specific research communicated and what the educators of the students I tutored responded to students' written products with. Then, using my own analytical skills, I fashioned instruction and tutoring that provided a comprehensive message that was able to compensate for any systemic shortcomings.

Dr. Amy helped my 8th grader prepare for the TJHSST & AOS entrance tests. She gradually trained him with the critical reading and writing components and motivated him to get out of his comfort zone and try new techniques and approaches to score higher. I would highly recommend her.

Call appointment was made but Léa did not find it necessary to cancel the appointment prior to appointment time while not feeling well. She only ended up answering back to me when I reached out to her to ask about whether she would end up calling me. A misopportunity especially if she would have proved to be a great tutor for my child.

Mary worked with my son (a sophomore in high school) for nine weeks, and the change in my son's confidence with writing improved significantly. Starting in first grade he developed a dislike for writing, which over the years turning into almost a phobia. He was so intimidated by the process, that he would rather fail than turn in an essay. As a result, he never really learned HOW to write, and his anxiety increased. Mary worked with him, starting with the basics of how to map out and organize a persuasive essay. What took him hours before, he was able to accomplish in less than half an hour. It was very empowering, and helped him considerably with facing writing tasks. One thing that I didn't expect with a writing tutor was Mary's incorporation of subtle life coaching. She had him examine his motivations and his goals. They even did personality testing. I think it was very eye-opening for him to have the chance to look at himself from a different vantage point. Her approach is very supportive and validating. She knows what to ask to make you (both the student and the parent) feel important and interesting. Finally, one of the things I appreciated most as a parent, was that she sent me an email after every session detailing what they had done and explaining her plans for the next session. I can't recommend her highly enough.
