Introduction: My work stands out because I had a superior corporate career. I'm the only one in history to serve as Chairman of both the speakers and consultants association. That means I have the respect of my peers. The majority of my long-term retainer clients came from me just speaking for them for 90 minutes. The most satisfying part of my profession is to help people grow. Many times, I get a card, letter or phone call from an individual 5 or 10 years after I helped them. I love consulting for smaller firms that compete against much larger firms. It's exciting when my clients start to take business from a giant. When consulting, I place emphasis on their culture. I help them with teamwork, having some fun and everyone respecting others. My pay-back is that I've spoken in all 50 states and on several continents. So I get paid to see the world.

My fee structure is very simple.

I get well over 100 trade magazines and I attend our speaking and consulting education events. Mark Twain said "The man who can not read has no advantage over the man who can not read.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was V.P. of Sales and Marketing and had a very strong speaker for our sales meeting. After I spoke, he asked if he could attend the rest of the day with us. At the end of the day, I was driving him to the airport and he said "None of my Fortune 500 clients come close to things you assigned to your group." As we continued conversing he said "You should be a speaker and consultant" and I had all types of questions. I had a goal of having my own business by the age of 40...I beat it by a month.
