Introduction: Each of my ceremonies is unique and personalized to the happy couple. We have fun creating the ceremony together and it shows. We are in the moment and enjoy all opportunities to express humor, as well as joy and awe on the big day. As I have always been considered unusual, this reflects in my services and valued by couples and their guests. My background as a Psychology major and years of advising students, clients and hands on healing adds to my ability to be there as needed. My agenda is to serve! The participation in the bonding of 2 loving people for a life time of mutual devotion and growth on this journey. I was married in 1960 and am a verbal and articulate advocate for marriage. My husband accompanies me, in a totally nonintrusive manner, and it is as if we renew our own vows at each wedding. What could be better?

Reverend Karen was our wedding officiant. She was fantastic! The first time we met with her to discuss our ceremony I knew she truly wanted our ceremony to be unique and special for us. She was very helpful with ideas and suggestions and we created a ceremony that was extremely meaningful and intimate. Reverend Karen did a fantastic job as our officiant, she made the most important part of our wedding ( the ceremony) absolutely wonderful - she spoke eloquently and our guests enjoyed her manner and delivery. We were so happy to be married by Reverend Karen Diamond.

And right back at you. You made it easy to do what I love: join a special couple in matrimony. It is an awesome blessing for my husband as well. We come away bathed in the glow of your happiness and love of the entire group. I truly appreciated your consideration and compassion in our dealings. It is not always so easy and sincere; the caring shown to me. May this glow never dim for the two of you.

Reverend Karen did stumble on the ceremony. My daughter was required to write entire ceremony herself and Reverend Karen didn't attend the rehearsal or seem to familiarize herself with the prepared ceremony. Today, my daughter received a notice from the Clerk from the County of Fairfax, stating that the marriage license was returned to Revered Karen for correction. This is delaying my daughter's process of obtaining a copy of the official certificate. I will say however, that the guests thought Reverend Karen nice and performed the ceremony in a homey way despite the mispronunciation of my daughter's first name. I do believe if Reverend Karen had attended the rehearsal, she would have learned to pronounce my daughter's first name correctly and would have been more familiar with when to light the unity candle.

First, I believe I addressed and referred to your daughter by name and was never corrected. :-(. Deanna is pronounced as spelled or like my daughter's name, Deena. I am so very sorry for that. As to the rehearsal and writing the ceremony themselves; I am somewhat surprised at this, since at our preliminary, time unlimited, for all questions, these items were made clear to the couple. There were no objections then. I suggested the $ it takes to have me at the rehearsal is best spent on themselves. This is the first time in 21 years I have been told that it was a mistake not to be at a rehearsal. (The Unity candle was lit as the ceremony that I was sent, indicated.) When I arrived I moved the table for the Unity candle which was misplaced. As to the writing of the vows: I encourage the couple to do so in order to deeply think about what this ceremony and their marriage is about. I want them to be aware of what they are stating publicly and to each other. These vows created by them and with my involvement, with a booklet of options and layout of a ceremony, given to them by me, to guide this process, deepens the meaning of the ceremony. The first meeting to make their decision about me and if we are a good match, is the time to accept me or not, informed as to how I will function. As to the license; regretfully this county demands that I check religious ceremony rather than civil, (since I am a Reverend), which was checked since, in fact, this was an Interfaith, non specific, civil ceremony. Delay was increased due to the fact that I was away this entire week and today is Columbus day. So goes the Universe. I am pleased that the guests enjoyed my delivery; which I strive to make humorous and heartfelt. I always review the ceremony multiple times. If, as in this case, her adorable baby cries for a good part of the ceremony, I acknowledge this rather than pretend there is no struggle to be heard. I endeavor to stay in the moment and respond to what is occurring with humor and loving and moving emotions. I totally enjoyed the privilege of joining this loving couple. I sincerely pray they felt the love and good wishes which pervaded the ceremony. It was a blessing for me to feel and see the deep love between this couple. Rev Karen
