Very professional, Very easy to work and very knowledgeable. Even before I hire him, he was very responsive to questions and options. Other law firms and attorneys insisted on a face to face meeting prior to hiring. Anthony was okay with allowing multiple questions before engaging into a contract. His estimate for fees were not only good but were not as high as expected and I got a refund. I highly recommend! He saved me at least $2000 in unnecessary legal fees.

I am still working with Ms. McKinley but so far I have only positive feedback about working with her. She communicates back via email or phone call, she is responsive to suggestions, she doesn’t sugar coat and she will work with you. When working with attorneys, the hardest part is getting them to call you back. She at least notifies you if she is delayed or needs to get back to you, instead of leaving you wondering what is next. I am using her as my divorce attorney. I wouldn’t want any of my friends or family to go through divorce, but if so I would certainly recommend Ms. McKinley.

My name is Young B. Kim. I am a semiconductor designer at Samsung Electronics. I was referred to Attorney Chang by a number of my colleagues at Samsung and from International SoC Design Conferences. Initially I contacted Attorney Change regarding my qualification under National Interest Waiver and get my green card via that route, but Attorney Chang recommended me to take the route of doing the First priority person of extraordinary ability. We submitted the EB1 petition with premium processing and it was approved exactly 7 days after the submission!!! I was so happy that I will be immigrating with my family to the US- The interview at US embassy at Korea was a breeze, took about 5 minutes. Even though Aaron carefully went over what I will be asked at the Embassy, I didn't get to do any of the explanations to the embassy officer. I will be moving to Portland, Oregon the new job in August!!! Highly recommend Attorney Chang for his expertise!!!"

We hired him for a civil lawsuit with a contractor and can't recommend him highly enough. He was responsive, organized, professional, and he worked very hard to get us the best outcome as possible. Most importantly, he's an honest attorney who really tries to help; he doesn't cut corners and doesn't try to get over on his clients. His fees are very reasonable and fair. I will recommend him to anybody who may ever need a lawyer in the area.

Both of the Attorneys I worked with were very nice and helpful. I had used another attorney and all he did was take as much money as possible from my business. These guys saved me money and solved my issue.

I had a very difficult legal problem. In fact many attorneys wouldnt touch it unless they were paid up front "six figures". Fortunately I was referred to Dr. Poupko. He is amazing. Prior to paying him a penny he spent many hours with me discussing my options. He always returned calls promptly. He was very accessible.. I knew that he was on top of it. He frequently would call me to update me. I never had to call him more then once. I was always able to get to him directly, not to have to speak to a secretary or paralegal. By hiring Dr. Poupko I got peace of mind. Bottom line: he took care of the problem at a fraction of the cost of other lawyers. I would certainly hire him again & I strongly recommend him.

I had the pleasure and luck to use Matthew Farr as my attorney. His drive and dedication to my worker compensation claim in Baltimore Maryland was well beyond terrific. Before speaking with Matthew I was confused and I guess scared. My employer and their insurance company literally gave me migraines from all the run around and phone tag. Matthew stepped on my behalf and got me a great settlement and most of all took away the aggravation. I highly recommend Matthew Farr.

About

My name is Gabriel Assaad. I'm originally from Rochester, New York and now call the DC area home. After graduating from High School, I wanted to get out of the cold weather so I enrolled at the University of Miami, Florida. I graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1996 and accepted a position with a consulting firm. I'd always wanted to go to Law School, so I sent applications to the top 25 Law Schools in the country. I told myself whichever school accepted me first, that's the school I was going to attend. Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee was the first to accept me, so I packed my bags and moved to Nashville. I received my law degree in 2001 and then accepted a position with Dickstein Shapiro, LLP, a large law firm in Washington, DC. I focused on Patent Litigation while with Dickstein Shapiro and it's where I had my first taste of litigation. In 2004, I joined Paulson & Nace, a Washington, DC based Personal Injury Law Firm. I represented clients in personal injury, medical malpractice and product liability matters and found that I enjoyed it immensely.... and was very good at it. That's when I decided to open my own law firm, and in October 2008, I did just that. In just a few short years, I've earned a solid reputation as a top-notch personal injury attorney and am known for caring about one thing and one thing only – my clients. If you or a family member has been injured due to the negligence of someone else, I'd like the opportunity to do the same for you. I can be reached at (202) 741-9348. Just give a call and we'll spend time discussing your situation and what options you have. There is no charge for this call and I will not pressure you in any way. I'll simply answer your questions, ask you a few as well, and if I can help, I will offer to do so. Thank you for stopping by. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What kind of lawyer does wills?

No one likes talking about death, but it’s better than leaving your children or siblings to sort out your estate. A clearly planned will can make the time of mourning easier for everyone. An estate attorney will develop a legal will, create trusts on your behalf, and ensure the proper execution of your estate after you pass away.

Family attorneys and estate attorneys, also called probate and wills attorneys, can each prepare wills. The type of lawyer best suited to prepare your will depends on your situation. Most family attorneys provide services to prepare basic wills, including bequeathing property and personal items to family or naming a guardian for minor children. However, estate attorneys specialize in preparing wills in more complex situations. Consider hiring an estate attorney if you:

  • Have a large number of assets, especially those subject to estate taxes
  • Want to create a trust, such as allowing a spouse to live in your home until he or she dies and then leaving it to your children, or set up long-term care for a beneficiary
  • Have an ownership stake in a business
  • Expect someone to contest your will
  • Want to disinherit your spouse

How do you find a good lawyer for wills?

Estate planning is an important part of financial planning, so it’s important to find the right attorney to prepare your will. Although most family attorneys can put together a basic will, you may want one who specializes in wills and estate planning, especially if you have a lot of assets or a dependent to take care of. You may need an attorney who has expertise in planning and executing trusts and a background in taxes. Ask how the attorney charges; some charge by the hour, others have a set fee for writing wills, and some charge a percentage of the total value of the estate. Make a list of several potential wills attorneys to interview. Make sure you make a strong personal connection with your attorney — you need to be comfortable telling him or her personal, confidential information about your life, and you need to feel that the attorney is committed to solving any problems that may arise while writing your will. Also find out how long the attorney has practiced estate law and whether he or she has handled wills similar to yours.

How much does it cost to have a living will?

Either a family attorney or an estate, or wills, attorney can help you prepare a living will, either as part of your general estate planning or as an individual document. The cost typically ranges from $250 to $500, depending on your attorney’s fees; some charge by the hour, while others have a flat rate for writing a living will. Some states require living wills to be notarized, which adds an average of $5 to $15. In a living will — also called an advanced healthcare directive — you specify whether you want to be kept on life support if you become terminally ill or lapse into a persistent vegetative state. You can also answer other important questions in a living will like your preferences for tube feeding, artificial hydration and pain medication in situations when you cannot communicate your wishes on your own.

How much should an estate plan cost?

The cost of an estate plan depends largely on the number of parts it includes and the complexity of the documents. The most basic estate plan is simply a will, but it may also include designating power of attorney or a health care proxy to another person, writing a living will, or making a HIPAA authorization. The average national cost to make an estate plan ranges from $350 to $900, but can cost much more in complicated situations. For example, an estate attorney may charge only $900 to prepare a basic will providing outright distribution — meaning that property and assets are distributed upon death. Writing a more complicated will and holding assets in trusts can cost $3,000, or more. The process of creating an estate plan generally takes two to four weeks, starting with the initial consultation with the wills attorney to identify areas of concern in order to design an estate plan that fits your goals and budget. Once an estate plan is written, the attorney meets with the clients, a notary, and two neutral witnesses to review and sign the plan and associated documents.
