    Boiler Repair

Heat wouldn't come on. Repairman came over later on the same day (Friday) I had put in a request. After a thorough check of our Burnham gas boiler, during which he explained to me what he was doing, he found that there was a problem with the vent damper (which controlled the ignition) and that there was also hardly any pressure on the boiler. The fill valve was really old and had a missing part (was told these valves need to be replaced every couple years). I asked him if the vent damper had to be replaced, and since I'd been having trouble with it off and on in the past couple years, couldn't we just bypass it altogether? He consulted with his boss over the phone and told me that was indeed possible. After he was done with determining what the problems were with our system, he gave me the bill for the labor done that day but he said I didn't have to pay it that day. The following morning (Saturday) he called me back and gave me a detailed description of what needed to be done and what the replacement parts would cost. If I hired the company, the fee for his labor of the previous day would be waived. On Monday morning, two other repairmen from ACC&H came over and installed a new ignition control (goodbye pesky vent damper), a new fill valve along with a back flow preventer, and a 1/2 shark bite ball valve. They checked the pressure and bled all the radiators in the house. After the job was done, one of the repairman took the time to explain to me what they had done. Everything was done in a timely manner and for what seemed to me a reasonable price ($470 for parts and $385 for 4.5 hours of labor). Based on this experience, I heartily recommend Atlantic Coastal Cooling and Heating.

Furnace and Heating System Repair or Maintenance

We had our (very old) furnace inspected and cleaned before we started using it this winter, since we just moved into our house over the summer. Atlantic Coastal provided great customer service and fair prices. Our technician, Amadou, did a great job and went above and beyond in making sure our furnace was running properly before he left. He even changed our air filter since I had an extra one sitting out that I was going to replace it with when he was finished. Extremely professional and honest service. I will definitely call Atlantic Coastal the next time we need our HVAC system serviced.

We had a full furnace and air conditioning system installed and it went well from start to finish. Communication was good. Workers showed up when they were supposed to. The system works well. I received multiple bids and they were in the middle but I chose them because the owner came out to give my estimate and thoroughly explained every aspect of the work and I appreciated that. They also offered the most efficient of the systems proposed. I highly recommend.

With this early summer heat wave, our air conditioning was straining to put out cool air. With two young kids, we had to get this fixed quickly. I called on a Thursday and the work was completed the following Monday. The technician was professional and efficient and clearly communicated what needed to be done to get our A/C back up to speed. I was mildly inconvenienced when the technician showed up two hours earlier than expected. I had to cancel some professional appointments to race home and when I expressed this to the company, they made an adjustment on the invoice. I would recommend their service. Thanks team!

Having dealt with dozens of contractors over the years, with mostly very bad experiences, Atlantic Coastal has stood out as being extremely dependable, responsive, and professional, with very high quality work. We have used them for several different jobs, large and small. I would definitely recommend them for any HVAC-related work.

Q&A

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over the last 20 years, Jamie has obtained his Master HVAC and Master Natural Gas Fitter's licenses. He attends and encourages his technicians to attend additional training to stay current on new products available.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
Our Fall and Spring inspections are $79. For repairs, we charge $95 for the first half hour, which is generally the diagnostic time then $35 per quarter hour after that. This helps to ensure that you're only paying for the time needed to complete the task. If we need to come back for some reason, we bill at the $35 per quarter hour rate. We do no-cost, no-obligation estimates on system replacement or new system installation.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Our company president, Jamie Carmen, started working for his dad's HVAC company when he was only 14. He rose up the ranks and was the Service Manager when the company was sold in 2003. He opened up his own company 6 months later.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We work with residential and light commercial customers. We have several property managers that we work with as well as real estate companies and agents. We have many customers with houses locally and on the Eastern Shore, who are glad to find a company to work on both locations.
