SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS! Every time I ran the kitchen facet, the water backed up into the dishwasher. In addition, when the dishwasher was turned on it backed up into the kitchen sink. Called Mr. Gray; he arrived quickly, immediately diagnosed the problem and unclogged the line. EXTRAORDINARILY good and prompt service! Mr. Gray, the kids and I thank you so much!!! Looking forward to connecting with you real soon to install the new dishwasher and water line to the refrigerator. YEAH!!!

I needed an expert to diagnose my dishwasher, and either repair it or recommend that I replace it. My husband had already watched Youtube videos, taken apart our dishwasher, cleaned it, examined parts, and reassembled it, but it still did not clean the dishes. So, I called Same Day Repairs because of the many excellent reviews, qualifications, certifications, and experience of the principal/owner, and great price. The owner lived up to his excellent reputation. He showed up the same day, and diagnosed my problem with a straightforward experiment that he demonstrated and explained clearly to me. He priced the cost of repairs on the spot (wholesale part + one hour of his labor). Repairs were fairly low priced. But, it was a several year old DW, with old parts, and the likelihood of another breakdown in the next year was fairly high. (My husband had replaced the MOTOR the previous year). Although it seemed a bit foolish to continue to throw money into such an old DW, we were not ready to drop $1000+ on a new one either. But, the owner had no intention of recommending retail anyway. He pulled up the Sears appliance outlet website -- and showed me brand new 2016 models with the newest features for $300 to $600! I was stunned, so excited and so grateful! For the same price as his repair (or, depending on what we wanted, maybe a bit more), we could get a new DW. Furthermore, he treated me with the high level of respect and courtesy that a customer would hope for, and followed up with me the next day! What more could any customer want?

James was able to perform a same day repair of a broken kitchen faucet. Within 30 minutes of posting my request he had responded with a quote. After he arrived I mentioned that I had some electrical problems with a ceiling fan and he was able to address that also in a timely manner. Great service and professionalism. I would certainly recommend him to anyone who needs help.

Although the plumber charged me double on what we agreed, I was happy with the overall performance. The job turned out to be much bigger than it appeared initially. He had to cut the cardboard at 2 places, the pipe at 2 places and remove the dishwasher. Overall, for the amount of work and effort he invested, I got good value. I recommend this professional.

Needed a dishwasher installed and then, while Mr Switch was here, asked for help on a squeaky fridge door that could wake the dead! Mr Switch jumped right on it. I can now sneak into the fridge anytime I want! He took his time, didn't waste mine and did an outstanding job. Would definitely use him again and highly recommend him. Thanks Mr. Switch!

I really couldn't say enough good things about these guys. My Washing Machine and dryer broke so I was stuck with a load of wet clothes and no desire to deal with the laundromat. I figured I would hang the clothes to dry, call a repairman and hopefully have a working dryer in a couple of days. No need, they came out the next evening I called and had it fixed up in about an 2 hour for a bargain price! I slept soundly in my dryer fluffed PJ's confident that the repair will last :) Absolutely the best choice for washer/dryer repair in the area! Ps: thanks Donnell !!!Good job!!!

My highest recommendation to Jon Drew! He replied immediately to my inquiry (on a Sunday afternoon!), and was on his way within the hour. He investigated the problem thoroughly, explained what was needed to repair my serious kitchen drain problem, and then did immaculate and highly effective work to correct it. He even checked the entire pipe system and gave me invaluable information regarding maintenance and future repairs. All this for a ***VERY REASONABLE SERVICE COST***. I am extremely happy with his work, and found him to be both highly professional and quite personable to deal with. He has earned a loyal customer in me, and I will not hesitate to call him for all my home plumbing needs in the future. 5 STARS!!

Robyn was great. He showed up on time, was tremendously professional and knowledgeable. He was able to help me with multiple jobs. He is officially my new appliance repair go to! He was able to fix a dishwasher in about 15 minutes. That three companies came out to repair (american home shield contractors) and couldn’t repair it in months. I highly recommend him.

Hiring Dan was a fantastic choice! He showed up exactly on time, worked for a single fixed price ($100) and stayed several hours diagnosing our dishwasher. When he wasn't able to fix it the first day, he did additional research, found the correct part, and returned quickly to ultimately fix the problem completely. He never wavered in his commitment to fix it for the price he said, and was true professional throughout. I will hire him again.

Had a great opportunity to experience MissUniqueHome/ Business Repair. I had plumbing issues and needed two shut off valves: 1. to the toilet and 1. for an exterior hose. I have an older house and Samantha replaced the parts with the most updated versions: a ball lever for the exterior and a 1/4 turn valve for the toilet where I would have no worries for years and years to come. I am pleased with the choices. Professional and knowledgeable! I would recommend and certainly use her again.

Repair of GE dishwasher

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
