About this pro

How does your business stand out?

I enjoy a more photojournalistic style; I like to let children play and interact with the environment, although I do also try for those more classic and traditional posed shots. I want my clients to be happy and get the photos they want, but sometimes the pictures that aren't "perfect" end up being the most precious. That's why I make an effort to keep snapping photos even when you aren't paying attention, because that perfect shot can happen at any moment! I always include digital images as part of a photography package. I want you to enjoy the products of our session on your own terms, without worrying about being able to afford to actually get the photos you've taken.

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

I love getting to meet new people and work with children, especially babies. There is something really wonderful about getting a baby or young child to smile, and it's so fun to know that their parents are going to have that beautiful smile captured forever.

Jennifer is amazing! She has such a great eye for backgrounds and has the utmost patience working in downtown D.C. in the humid mid 80s we had this past Memorial Day weekend. I have not seen our pictures yet, but I can already tell with her suggestions on how we should pose, they are going to be absolutely wonderful. And, she even spent extra time with us past our booked session. We will definitely be hiring Jennifer again.

Jennifer is patient and lovely to work with. Our family ranged from 5 months to 80+ years and she captured the magic of our family. We simply can't be more thrilled and look forward to working with her over the years. Thank you for capturing a special family moment. To have three generations is so special.

So I asked Jen to help my friends and I document our senior year in college with a fall photoshoot. Being super busy students with conflicting schedules, Jen managed to get SO many quality shots in such a short 2 hour session. Not only is she incredibly efficient, but also the quality of her pictures, including lighting, angles, and positioning, just makes everyone look amazing. Even one year later, some of my favorite pictures taken are still from Jen. (And sometimes, I can't stop staring at them they are that good.)

Jennifer is great to work with! My fiance and I got our engagement pictures done with her and she was able to put us at ease, even while posing in some interesting positions. Even my fiance, who was dreading getting pictures taken, had a good time. The pictures turned out great, and she was so quick in getting them back to us! I was happy with everything!

Jen was fantastic! We hired her to do family pictures, requested poses and found incredible candid shots in her final grouping. We loved them so much, we took them all and will hopefully be able to use her many times in the coming years.

Jennifer was very nice to work with. We had some weather issues changing our date and she was accommodating. Our appointment was 1-2 hours, but Jennifer thought we got enough shots in after about an hour. I was disappointed that when we got the proofs back, there weren't enough shots to choose from, I would have hoped for more. I would like to see her take more than less- to give the client plenty to choose from. Otherwise, good experience.

Jennifer was amazing. She knew the perfect poses and was very patient with us. Mostly she was very professional and creative. I will definitely be asking her to do our wedding. Her prices are also affordable. If you are looking for the perfect photographer for an engagement or family photo shoot, she is that person.

We had family photos taken of multiple families, so 11 people total. This included 4 kids ranging from 6 months to 8 years old and 7 adults. It was a great photo shoot and the photos turned out really nice. Very happy with the overall experience.

Jen is an outstanding photographer! She not only made the photo sessions completely stress-free and fun, but the pictures turned out so much better than I could have ever imagined! People tell me that the pictures look like they should be on the cover of a magazine. I also love that she captures the moment in my choice of location. I can't wait to schedule our next session. I highly recommend her!

We had Jen do couples photos for us and they were fantastic! I was nervous beforehand (I feel like I always look goofy on camera) but she did a great job of setting me at ease and helping us pose in ways that felt natural. I liked the experience so much that I went back to her to get a professional headshot and I'm really pleased with the results. I couldn't have asked for more!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to exchange an email or have a phone call to outline the expectations of the session. Is it a big family or a small one? What are the age ranges that I'll be working with? Do they have a location in mind or do they need some help finding a good spot to take photos? These are all important things to consider and are good to nail down right away. As soon as we get a session date/time/location set, I'll send a contract and invoice for a deposit.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I love to do portraits for families and take pictures of children, including newborns and babies. I've also done some work with couples for engagement shots and maternity photos. I work with natural light, which generally means outdoors, but it is surprising the beautiful pictures that can come from an indoor session. I like to get creative with people and see what can happen when they let their guard down and act naturally. While I will always let the client direct what sorts of poses they want, my favorite pictures are frequently those that are unexpected and "in the moment."
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I want to work with you and give you the best experience possible, so please ask questions and tell me what you want! I am open to suggestions and ideas concerning location, posing and other aspects of your session. These photos should capture you and your family's unique and beautiful spirit; be as active in the experience as you feel you need to be, while still respecting my professional opinions.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
While I don't think you should break the bank to get nice photos taken, you should remember that professional photography is an art. With the advent of newer technology and less expensive equipment, a lot of people think they can get their own DSLR and just start shooting and expect to get the same quality and attention to detail that a professional can give you. And while maybe one out of every 40 images is really spectacular, but there is no comparing the consistent quality you can get from hiring someone with genuine talent, experience and the right equipment for the type of photos that you want. So, ask yourself, what is that I really want out of my photography experience? Do I want consistently great pictures that have been carefully processed to enhance the natural beauty of the subjects, or do I want something cheap and quick?
