Jennifer is amazing! She has such a great eye for backgrounds and has the utmost patience working in downtown D.C. in the humid mid 80s we had this past Memorial Day weekend. I have not seen our pictures yet, but I can already tell with her suggestions on how we should pose, they are going to be absolutely wonderful. - What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I like to exchange an email or have a phone call to outline the expectations of the session. Is it a big family or a small one? What are the age ranges that I'll be working with? Do they have a location in mind or do you need some help finding a good spot to take photos? These are all important things to consider and are good to nail down right away. As soon as we get a session date/time/location set, I'll send a contract and invoice for a deposit. The remaining fee is due at the end of the session, and your photos will take 2-3 weeks to be delivered, on average.
- What types of customers have you worked with?I love to do portraits for families and take pictures of children, including newborns and babies. I've also done some work with couples for engagement shots and maternity photos. I work with natural light, which generally means outdoors, but it is surprising the beautiful pictures that can come from an indoor session. I like to get creative with people and see what can happen when they let their guard down and act naturally. While I will always let the client direct what sorts of poses they want, my favorite pictures are frequently those that are unexpected and "in the moment."
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?I want to work with you and give you the best experience possible, so please ask questions and tell me what you want! I am open to suggestions and ideas concerning location, posing and other aspects of your session. These photos should capture you and your family's unique and beautiful spirit; be as active in the experience as you feel you need to be, while still respecting my professional opinions.
