FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Private lessons on your turf are $45 per hour. Some services, such as a finder's fee in helping clients find a suitable horse for their needs, will run higher. Travel reimbursement is identical to the current federal government rates; often the lesson is rounded out to $50 to include travel. Clients are scheduled in order to produce the shortest distances between customers, however I often skip travel reimbursement if a client is close to home.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Asking questions as to rider experience and goals is essential to assessing client needs. Taking a horse & rider history, observing how horse and rider function together, then moving on to address any problems or faults in order to begin to correct them. If a horse is exhibiting problematic behavior, I will usually mount in order to feel the horse's evasion tactics first hand, so that teaching you how to thwart the behavior will be based on that experience; knowing exactly what you are dealing with increases the likelihood of faster results.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Formally trained in New York from age 7 to 18 by some of Long Island's best: Virginia Rice (Rice Farms), Eileen Bringmann (Eastern Horse Center). Certified by PATH, International, with CPR/First Aid training; certified Special Olympics trainer and coach. Well read with an extensive library of classic equestrian titles by George Morris, Reiner Klimke, William Steinkraus, James Woffard, etc. Clinics and horse industry seminars.
