Met Steve when he was playing a show at a local pub- got to talking and shared with him my 11 year old son's passion for music and learned that Steve gave guitar lessons. Met him on a Thursday. By the following Monday, he was sitting in my home teaching my son to play Everlong- Steve is passionate, enthusiastic, and professional- he's a full time musician- this IS his thing!! Communication with him re: lessons, etc is very easy- and my son thinks he's super-awesome- which bodes well for his own enthusiasm regarding pursing guitar. Highly, highly recommend.

Stevie is great!! I have been wanting to learn how to play the guitar for a while now and Stevie was very patience when he came out to the house, and he explains everything. He worked around my hours and wasn't watching the clock to see when the hour was up. He gives off a great vibe and I'm looking forward to continuing my lessons with Stevie. He makes it very interesting and exciting!

He is passionate about music and your ability to get better. I'm very excited to continue to learn more.

Gregg has provided weekly guitar lessons to our son for the past 2 1/2 years. We have been very pleased with the results of our son's playing, not to mention his motivation and enjoyment while a student of Gregg's. Of special note is how Gregg has included our son in ensemble performances such as in fund-raisers and public service. This has not only further motivated Manuel but has helped grow his overall self confidence with the guitar and beyond.

I've been taking beginner acoustic guitar lessons this summer with Gregg. He is patient, upbeat, and great at putting together a flexible program that will meet your particular goals. The studio is conveniently located in DC, and guitars available to use during lessons so you don't need to lug your instrument around town.

“It has been a great learning experience for my two daughters. I don’t think I could ever find a better piano teacher. Not only does Ms. Heather share her great talent with my kids, she is also very friendly and always cheerful and looking forward to teaching them. My daughters have improved dramatically since we started with her a few years ago. We also really enjoy the convenience of in home lessons! I highly recommend Lessons In Your Home for music lessons. I've been working with Tim for almost 2 years now. Tim has a great, private, home studio in his basement with about a dozen different acoustic and electric guitars, a variety of bass and amps, and tons of other equipment like microphones, recording software, effect peddles, etc... You don't need to bring your own equipment if you don't want to. If you do, Tim also has a work bench and can help with repairs, maintenance, and fine tuning. His studio is in Canton and convenient for lessons. Plus, Tim is very flexible and able to accommodate me when my schedule changes suddenly. When I first started with Tim, I had been playing on my own for about a year. Tim is an amazing musician but didn't make me feel bad about my level (or lack there of) of skill. Tim first taught me the basics of foundational guitar theory (notes, scales, chords grips, chord theory, keys, etc) and focused on technique, picking, fingerstyle, and strumming patterns. However, he kept it light and fun and we worked in learning the songs I wanted to learn at the same time, making the experience enjoyable instead of a chore. Tim is always willing to help transcribe and tab out a song for me, or a solo I want to reproduce, or other melodies/chord progressions from other songs. He is even willing to send out videos or recordings to use for practice purposes. We are now delving more into music theory and more advance compositions and songs.

I've been taking guitar lessons with Tim for the better part of the year and I couldn't be happier with my experience. He's talented, patient, and super accommodating to my whacky schedule. We've worked on various styles such as Jazz, Folk, and Blues and thanks to Tim I've made significant progress in my guitar playing! I highly recommend Tim as a teacher.

Finding a good guitar and bass tutor can be pretty fraught. Anyone who knows a few scales can potentially set up shop. I had the misfortune of visiting several such "instructors." Unlike most of the folks on craigslist, Morgan is a true teacher. He has deep musical knowledge that spans genres and play styles, and will adapt his lessons to the interests of the student. But more importantly, he's just a great person - kind, patient, and passionate about music. Over 2 years of lessons, Morgan helped me progress from simple pop songs to Jazz comps, and even indulged my interest in kooky prog metal rhythms. The lessons were fun, spontaneous, and challenging. Bonus: Morgan is an experienced guitar tech with a fully outfitted shop in his house. I cannot overstate how convenient it is to be able to get your instrument fixed in the same location where you take your lessons. Virtually no one else in the area can provide this dual service. In summary: I wouldn't write such a long review if he wasn't the real deal. I left each lesson with a smile on my face and I saw the same in every other student that walked out the door before my timeslot. If you want to learn and actually have fun doing it, give this guy a call.

Morgan is a great guy and an excellent guitar instructor. Since signing up with him I've not only become much better at guitar (from zero to okay) but we are good friends and hang out regularly. If you're looking to gig in the future he has many insights and can help you get your stage presence and proficiency where it needs to be. He is also a great luthier so he can help you get maximum value out of your axe by setting it up for you. One stop shop for all things guitar/bass.

We had an excellent experience with BFB. The guys arrived early to setup and test their equipment. They were ready to play music exactly when we needed them to. They were professional yet very laid back, so it was easy to ask for special accommodations i.e: songs, announcements...etc. We are definitely going to use BFB again and recommend them to anyone who's looking for good quality music at a fair price.

My young daughter Clarisse had never taken guitar lessons when she stared with Kevin at Foxes Music. Her progress is simply astonishing. Kevin is a complete professional who is friendly and engaging with Clarisse, and he got her excited to learn at her very first lesson. She's actually learning about music and how to read notes, not just replaying from memory. She loves going to her lesson, and I couldn't be happier with Kevin's instruction. Watching her face when she shows me what she's learning is one of the best parts of my week too.

My daughter recently started guitar lessons with Kevin. At first she was a bit reserved when it came to lessons but Kevin provides age-appropriate instruction without the pressure for a young child. She really enjoys her lessons and picking up her guitar at home. We are both looking forward to more lessons with Kevin! I will also add that Kevin and Foxes Music (where the lessons are held for her) were very accommodating with our work/school schedule and worked with us until we found the perfect day/time slot!

I hired Bill for electric guitar lessons. I actually shopped for an instructor who would fit my learning style best. I learn by doing things hands-on, not so much auditory learning. After trying 4 different instructors, I decided Bill was the best fit for me. Other instructors were good but did not have what I was looking for such as: not teaching according to my learning style, not understanding my goals, or making me feel like I learned nothing after the first lesson. I felt none of these will Bill. After my first lesson with him, I knew he would be a great fit for me. You can just tell he has experience by interacting with him. I left the lesson feeling satisfied with the information I learned and that I am capable of reaching my goals. He takes his time with each lesson, does not rush, and welcomes all questions. He is patient with newbies like me and adept at explaining things in a manner that I will understand. I never feel overwhelmed with the information he gives. I like that he gives positive encouragement when you do something correctly. He will also help you correct you if you have bad form/technique. Bill is very professional, he responds to inquiries quickly. He has the knowledge, experience, and background to help you reach your goals. He has a great personality and is willing to work with your schedule. I highly recommend Bill as an instructor!

I got my first guitar last Christmas (at 52!) and thought I'd take a couple of lessons to get started. I saw Bill's ad, liked what he had written (though I have to say I was a little skeptical) but thought, probably no harm in taking a couple lessons and then doing the rest on my own with free YouTube videos. Well, here I am, almost one year and 52 lessons later, playing guitar like I never dreamed possible! And no YouTube in sight. Nothing but Bill Twilde's exceptional guitar teaching and mentoring. You know, you come across true teachers like this once, maybe twice in your life. I wasn't even sure I could form a single chord with my fingers. But because of Bill's gentle, intuitive guidance, I learned I can do more than I ever thought possible! Ok, I guess I'm gushing now but it's kind of hard to stop. He's really that good. Go see him play out somewhere in the meantime, and imagine taking lessons from someone who is also that great a performer. Been an awesome experience for me and can hardly wait to start year two!

I am only four lessons in with Bill, and in an extremely short period of time I'm happy to report I've learned more in four sessions than I could have ever imagined. His teaching style adapts immediately to the ability, skill level and goals of his students -- Bill also asks his students what they are most interested in learning as well to integrate those goals into each lesson. Bill provides exercises in between sessions to help keep practice consistent and ensure that students also achieve results. I personally can't wait for my next lesson and looking forward to many more with Bill! I would highly recommend Bill to anyone of all skill levels who are considering guitar lessons.

I’ll be honest, I got lucky finding Dave. Years ago, I saw an ad in the Baltimore City newspaper, a place where Dave stopped advertising shortly after I called him. You’ll have the same luck learning from a dynamic artist. Each lesson has as much energy as the first, you will never get bored. If you're looking for a professional, experienced, and dedicated musician you found him. I knew nothing about the bass before taking lessons with Dave. He always puts the student's musical interest first providing solid instruction. He structured each lesson to my interests, i.e. if I wanted to learn Le Chic's Good Times, Dave didn't try to convince me to do something else; he went with what I asked. And Dave is totally accessible. I’ve had lessons in his apartment, studio, house, and on Skype and FaceTime. He even worked with me while overseas in France via Skype, that’s 6 hours time difference. Don’t kid yourself, if you are serious about learning the bass so is Dave. He’ll find a way to make it work. The best part is during each lesson and over the years he incorporated fundamental musical knowledge to build my understanding and repertoire. If you work hard, listen, and be patient you will grow.

Dave is a great bass instructor. I came to Dave because I wanted to learn theory and read music. Dave was patient but stern. If I came to lessons unprepared he would let me know that was unacceptable. He stresses practice , practice, practice, If you want results. He also praises you when you do well. He's very flexible and will cater to your needs.if your looking for a bass instructor that will get you results Dave is your man. I plan to sign up with him again soon.

Our 9-yr old daughter Amaya was a little anxious about taking up double bass, but as soon as she started working with Kim, she felt very comfortable and started to really love the instrument. Kim made the weekly class fun and challenging, and Amaya felt encouraged and motivated to practice on her own every day. Kim had a flexible schedule and worked around Amaya’s other school and sports activities, which made it particularly easy for Amaya. Besides being a great professional and a dedicated teacher, Kim clearly loves playing the double bass -- and our daughter does too! Myriam G.

I have known Joanna for over 30 years now, and know that even back then she had a sheer musicality both at guitar and keyboards. Her handling of elementary school students of any grade when teaching, then middle school and older, was always carefully measured, often catering to individual needs in order to bring out or focus musical gifts, or simply to raise the level of a student's appreciation for art. She has kept that measure of regard for students of all ages since she went into non-school teaching. I also would assure anybody who wants to send a younger student to her that if after an appropriate period of time she felt they were not progressing or that music was perhaps not a good fit for them that she would be honest about that to the parents rather than have anybody waste time and resources trying to engage a child with other interests. But her goal has always been, as I have observed, to find a way to engage them in the first place. Results and honesty, as well as musical passion. What more need be said. (Please know that as a professional musician myself that this is as unbiased an opinion as I can possibly render.)

Randy K.

I've known Joanna for many years and was very pleasantly surprised to witness her musical prowess when she performed at a mutual friend's wedding. My daughter and I met Diego about 2 years ago. Both she and I wanted to learn how to play the guitar. Diego was always patient, kind, and found the best learning methods for the both of us. As time went on, I decided to stop taking lessons, do to time constraints, but my daughter continued to play until Diego changed locations. Diego was always the most polite and presentable staff member at the company. He was so great, that I asked him to play at my wedding! I highly recommended Diego Ratana to anyone looking for quality and integrity in the music industry.
