Tom Arvis Design & Illustrations
About this pro
Tom was incredible. I had a very tight timeline and he delivered on time to a very high quality. He also took direction very well. Would highly recommend working with him.Sep 22, 2017Verified
Tom is very nice, professional, knowledgeable and has been super flexible with my work schedule and my son's many activities. As a commercial illustrator, he's teaching my son exactly what it is he wants to learn in cartooning. He has published comics and works patiently with my kid. I'm very pleased and recommend him highly.Feb 27, 2017Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My prices may be slightly higher than other freelancers, but I have not raised my hourly rates in 20 years, and I bring more talent, creativity and experience to a project than your average freelancer, which means I can probably get the job done more quickly with fewer revisions or mistakes than someone with less experience, thereby saving time and the client money in the long run.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? After initial contact, I will provide a more concise estimate with my terms and a time table and payment schedule for completion of the project. My estimates generally include pencil roughs, or first drafts, 1-2 rounds of complimentary revisions (depending on complexity), and final art (upon approval of roughs), as well as transmission of roughs and final art via e-mail or FTP upload, in whatever file formats the client requires. For first-time remote clients I may require a deposit and will invoice through PayPal (including a 5% surcharge to cover PP fees), depending on the situation and the project, but after that I invoice the client directly, and offer a 30 day grace period for payment.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?My college degree is a B.S. in Communication Arts, with a focus on Journalism. I produced a comic strip for my college (James Madison University) newspaper for 4 years, and my first job out of college was with an Ad Agency as a Graphic Designer/Illustrator. Other than that I offer more than 20 years of professional experience.
