They moved a piano and a wine cabinet up a flight of steps into my apartment courteously, safely, and quickly. I would hire them again when I have things to move.
Brandon showed up on time, was friendly and professional, and got right to work replacing our kitchen faucet. He was happy to answer questions and explain the process. I would not hesitate to contact him again for any other home repair.
Walt and his guys installed a dishwasher and garbage disposal in our tiny kitchen where there had never been ones before. They did everything--cut out a space in the existing cabinet for the dishwasher, wired everything back to the electrical panel, did the plumbing, etc, and fixed a recently-discovered leak in our sink drain while they were at it! They were totally professional, did great work, and were super flexible as we were trying to get the work done as close to our move-in date as possible!
It was an absolute pleasure working with EJ and his crew over the past few days. From the first day, EJ made me feel comfortable and reassured me that he could complete the job to my satisfaction. Throughout the entire process, EJ continuously provided updates and made sure I was happy with the way things were progressing. The job was completed this afternoon and I must say that I am impressed with EJ's work and attention to detail. During our final walk-thru I had nothing but praises for EJ and crew. My kitchen, family room, living room, dining room, bathroom, stairway and hallway all look brand new. From this day on, EJ is my guy for all future projects.
I cannot say enough good things about RB Construction (Remberto and his crew) on their work during our kitchen relocation. Honest, fair, reasonable price, quick and resourceful. You cannot beat their prices. I tried to on drywall, cabinet installation, painting, carpentry finish and tile work and nobody came close To make a long story short, I had him out to bid on patching drywall after electrician ran wiring and ending up hiring Remberto to finish the entire kitchen. We live in a house built in the 1930s and moved our old galley kitchen to the family room. Remberto and crew did a beautiful job on the tile work to include all the difficult subflooring work. They also did an excellent job on drywall and smoothing out transition with old plaster. Finally, they did an amazing job on installation of kitchen cabinets despite the fact that none of the walls were square or the ceiling level, as well as the custom installation of a 300 lb. country sink. They are true craftsmen! I wish I would have found Remberto when I start my remodel job. He would have saved me time, money and headaches.
Steve was super-efficient with most of the tasks he came to do, e.g. fixing a desk lamp, reinstalling a handle on a bathroom cabinet, affix hooks for curtain tiebacks, etc. He charges a fixed amount per hour, so his ability to work rapidly and do the job well was very welcome. On the last task--fixing a (relatively new) salt-grinder the handle of which had refused to grind/turn--things proved harder than both he and I thought. It took a long time and yet it remained unfixed after all was said and done. It may have been better to just let it go much earlier (thus saving me some money) but I guess the hope was that he would be able to fix it at the end of the day. But generally I am satisfied with how nearly all of the the handyman tasks went. One PS note: I had no problems with the issue many mentioned, re him not showing up etc. However, I did raise this point I saw in other reviews with him upfront, and he explained that he doesn't set appointments to show up without speaking to the client. Easy enough, I spoke with him and all went well on this front.
I hired Antonio (Tony) Sanchez from Renaissance Restoration to complete a kitchen renovation this past fall (sorry I did not get around to completing this review sooner!). I did all the demolition, but the job included lights and electrical, plumbing repair, cabinet and counter top install, appliance install, and painting. Tony gave a very reasonable estimate and personally worked on my project with his assistant from start to finish as opposed to having one of his employees complete the job. As he began the job, he soon realized that virtually nothing from the original construction was square (townhouse was built in 1987). However, that did not phase him as he had the skills to adjust making those imperfections unnoticeable in the end. In addition, Tony has skills in most of the trades which meant that he did not have to sub different parts of the job out; he did all the electrical, plumbing and carpentry himself. The best part of my experience working with Tony was that he discussed and explained different options or ways of completing a task to ensure there were no surprises, and I was impressed with his willingness to even teach me a little along the way. He was flexible in allowing me to have a friend install the tile floor and was understanding of my need to stick to a rather tight budget. There are only two comments I could make for overall improvement: cleanliness and timeliness. On a couple of occasions, I had to discard empty food containers and drinks that had been left behind. I attributed this to oversight and could be easily improved by making an effort to clean up the work site after each day of work. Considering it was not a space I was using though, it was not that big of a deal. As for timeliness, the project took longer than expected to complete. However, I know that my involvement did have some impact on the schedule and the fact he was doing the work himself while still managing other jobs is a factor. I would not hesitate to bring Tony in for another project in the future. I am completely satisfied with his work and would recommend him to anyone.
Sam and his guys did great work painting my kitchen. He is very professional, punctual and responsive to any questions or concerns you may have. His prices are reasonable. He is understanding of when you are trying to stay within a budget and will work to keep you within your budget. I have broken the work that I want done into projects and will be using Sam to complete them for me. He will be doing a kitchen cabinet refacing for me next month. I would recommend L&N Enterprise to anyone looking for a guy that does it all.
Last Spring, Brandon Contractor LLC completed several projects in my home with excellent quality and customer service! I had recently purchased a foreclosure and was looking for a reliable contractor to complete a few projects. Mr. Vega and I met so that I could share my vision for the projects that I wanted completed - a small window cut in the wall above the kitchen sinking looking into the living room, refinishing the front door, backsplash in the kitchen and painting the upstair hallway and stairway. We met to pick out materials and I was allowed to provide my input as well as receive suggestions from Mr. Vega that would improve the overall job. When the work begun, a possible concern was noted by Mr. Vega and his team with plumbing. It was addressed immediately. All of the projects were completed in a timely manner and I am extremely satisfied with the outcome! The team was professional, courteous and the pricing was great! I often receive complements from visitors to my home and I plan to use the company again in the near future to spruce up my patio. I highly recommend Brandon Contractor LLC for any of your home improvement projects!
I was originally lookIng to have my commodes replaced, but when I saw all of the other work Juan does, I put that on hold. I wanted some painting done before Christmas. Juan came and gave an estimate on the same day I did my search and we agree on a date and price that day too! I knew the quote was more than reasonable. Juan arrived early, and the service was professional and FAST!!! Three rooms, a small kitchen and bathroom painted (walls only; furniture moved) in under 6 hours!!! To say that I am pleased with the painting service is an understatement! They didn’t drop a spec of paint anywhere and have such streaky hands that taping was not needed! These guys are the real deal! I cannot wait for the next project and will be using them for more painting, to remodel my bathroom and some electrical stuff!
Jorge was professional, he arrived on time and the rate was resonable. He painted the kitchen cabinets, living room and dining and finished the job faster than he'd initially estimated and everything looked amazing. I'd definitely hire him again!
Henry did a fantastic job repairing a kitchen cabinet whose side was separating from the back and thus starting to come down from the wall. After fixing that though, he noticed that several others were not as secure as they should be and tightened up the remaining ones. He responded to my request on Thumbtack quickly, arrived on time, cleaned up thoroughly, and charged a very fair price. Would definitely hire him again.
My experience with The Cabinet Guy was great. He worked so carefully and neatly in my home. His process is efficient, while ensuring care for the items in my home. He made sure to protect all areas from dust and dirt while painting all of my kitchen cabinets. The outcome was beautiful and flawless cabinets!
Months ago, I looked for someone to do a small painting project on Thumbtack. And I ended up with a brand new home. Christian, Jessica, Hector and the rest of the team at 5th Gen Group honestly do miracles. We own a 100+ year old row home in Washington DC and we've had problems ever since we moved in five years ago. After dealing with four different contractors that left me unsatisfied, I tried Thumbtack (at that time, new in the DC area). Christian came out to do an estimate and I was impressed by him from the get go - as a woman, I hate when contractors act like I'm stupid or uninformed. Christian never did that, and he answered all my questions respectfully and thoroughly and would defer to my wishes. We initially contracted for a gut remodel of our ancient kitchen and leaking bathroom. Christian's professional opinion was heavily appreciated as well as his vision - he instantly "got" the feel of a space and spent a lot of time listening to not only what we wanted, but how we would use the space and what we planned for the house in the future. Of course, the best laid plans always go awry - we knew our house had a few "handyman specials" but once Christian opened up the floor in the kitchen, we realized we were really in for it. Down there was a hidden mess of rotting wires, missing piping, garbage from the last renovations, and rotted-out beams. Overnight, our budget doubled. I personally wanted to die. But Christian calmly lead us through the process, helped us try to salvage our murdered budget, and focused on explaining the trade-off in home values. We ended up with an additional half bath downstairs (because really, what was another 5K at that point?), brand new kitchen (with a small bar!) a brand new stairwell and relocated laundry room, and a brand new bathroom with a shower (after 5 years of an ancient leaking cast iron tub). Christian isn't completely perfect - he's totally a perfectionist, and if you are one too, be prepared for some long conversations. There is an epic texting exchange over the bathroom tile that I may print out just to see how long it really was. But that's about the only thing. Also, for the other ladies on here- I always hate opening my home to someone because I have had bad experiences with contractors who were, at best, creepy. Christian and Hector were completely professional, and they really went the extra mile to make sure I always knew who would be in the house, when they would arrive, and how to reach both of them. Christian also has a lot of loyalty and integrity toward his clients - he is always fair, both in pricing and in the treatment of your home. He broke a small appliance - the only reason I knew was because he called me when he was purchasing an (upgraded) replacement on his own dime. All renovations are hard projects, long projects, and frequently frustrating. There was definitely a day when I wanted to kill Christian for sending me out to two different quarries in far out Virginia right around rush around. But when I stepped into my home for the first time, I couldn't stop smiling. And when we finally scrape together the budget for a third floor extension, I know exactly who I am calling.
Our new kitchen backsplash looks fantastic! The guys were on time, thorough, and professional. Will be in touch for future projects for sure.
We hired Erick to paint the cabinets for our kitchen update based on reviews of others through Thumbtack, and we are glad we did! Erick did a great job painting and replacing all of the hardware on our 20-year-old cabinets. In addition, we learned from him that he also does tile work so, based on the excellent job he did on the cabinet painting, we had him install subway tile back splash. He did a superb job of the tile. In addition, we expanded Erick's contract to include painting of the kitchen and breakfast bar walls as well as an accent wall and art niches in our new paint color scheme. Again, a super job. I cannot over emphasize how pleased we were with Erick's work. He seeks and achieves perfection in the quality of his work, and his crew likewise follows his lead. Hire Erick! You will be glad you did.
Quality of work was fantastic. The only issue was the quoted timeframe vs how it all panned out. A 2 day job ended up being 3 and not everyone can have their entire weekday and weekend afternoons free. Regardless, Andrey is a great guy and does great work. Highly recommended.
Had a great experience using J-Team for a utility sink repair (that fell from the wall and broke the drain pipe). I received a very reasonable preliminary quote through Thumbtack and his subsequent complimentary visit to assess the work matched that price. The work turned out to be a little trickier and longer than anticipated but it gone done very well. I liked it so much I've already asked for quotes for additional things I need done in the house (from bathroom caulking to a kitchen backsplash installation). Jaime is a great guy and I recommend him!
Jaime far exceeded my expectations! I hired him to paint my kitchen cabinets and I was blown away by the process as well as the end result. The cabinets look like they were manufactured white - they started out as a medium toned wood. Jaime was prompt, responsive, and efficient; my cabinets were finished in 2 days. Will definitely hire him again for my next painting project!
Hired after taking 3 quotes, had the best price. They were on time, thorough, and great painters. We added a room at the last minute and they knocked it out the next day. Really happy with their work. 100% rehire..
Winthorpe Design and Build renovated our kitchen, bathroom, living room and family room and they did an excellent job. Scott and his team are totally professional. They designed, purchased and installed tile flooring, tiles walls, concrete counter tops and fixtures. Dave helped us solve a problem with a door and window that were leaking into the kitchen and living room. Krag designed everything and helped us select the tiles, counters, fixtures and everything we needed. Most importantly, they worked well with us as a family, making it as convenient as possible for us. I strongly recommend Winthorpe Design and Build Joan Washington D.C.
