For a Family or other type of portrait: Prior to the portrait session, I like to have a planning session where we will discuss the type of portrait the client wants. Then we'll talk about the type of clothing and colors that will look best. They can tell me if they prefer a studio or a location portrait, either inside or out of doors, with family, pets, individual, etc. The portrait session usually take two hours for a family session where I'll take many portraits of the whole group and individual families, grandparents with their grandchildren and any other variation the client might want.
