I absolutely loved the service I got from good vibrations. The photo booth was an absolute hit with every one who attended my wedding. The girls who came and set up were so kind and patient. They were so friendly and set up and broke down the photo booth with skillful speed. The photos came out GREAT, they were so clear. Thank you good vibrations!!

Amy did an amazing job dj-ing my wedding. We had a lot of strange and specific song selections, and she did her best to accommodate our requests as well as our guests. Everyone was dancing, and when they slowed down, she found the right song to get them going again. She was also extremely nice and flexible even when our venue was giving us issues. If I ever needed another dj in the area, I would hire her again in a heartbeat. She was professional, organized, and friendly. Thank you so much Amy! Chuck&Jillian

We hired Greg for our wedding ceremony and reception. He arrived for our day prompt and with his equipment handy. We had a few hiccups with the outside canopy at the beginning of our ceremony, which delayed the start of our wedding by a hour and half. This caused Greg to not get a chance to play some of our more favorite songs from the playlist we provided. However, all of the requested songs for important events during the ceremony and reception were spot on.

My husband and I have never been so happy about a gift. Our Officiant was a gift God gave us. The first gift we got for our wedding and before it. Thank Your Mrs. Edwards for your professionalism love and godly presence sent through each and every human being who witnessed our ceremony. God was there and placed you in his presence in the body to deliver a masterpiece sealing of eternal love, embarked truth, respect, humble commitment, and honest compassion. Thank you Lord for this soul in Jesus name, Amen.

I hired Erin to do my makeup for my wedding. She was very professional, yet warm, and my makeup turned out beautiful. I asked for a very natural look as I don't normally wear makeup and it turned out perfect.

This past May, Stevie drove to northern VA to perform at my husband's 50th surprise party. It was in our backyard. The goal was to have a fun, yet casual evening w/ close friends and live music. Stevie was professional and personal. He tailored the music selection to what my husband liked and many "on the spot" requests. He was so great, that my husband and guests asked him to stay for another hour...which he graciously agreed to do w/o hesitation. The night could not have gone better and a major part of that was due to Stevie. I HIGHLY recommend him for any private party, wedding, bar/restaurant, etc. You will not be disappointed. My best to Stevie w/ his future performances!

He went above and beyond our expectations as a photographer. He was able to capture a wide range of moments on our wedding day. You can really feel his passion pour out as he works and really made the experience exceptional for us. Everyone family and friends were happy with his cheerful attitude. Would love to have him back for future events and we are so thankful to have had him capture all our wedding memories. Wish I could give more stars.

We hired DJ Wah-Heed for our wedding celebration and we were very pleased. He kept the celebration going all evening long. All of our guests had a blast so much that they hardly ate any food because the music kept them on the dance floor. He was professional from the initial contact to the last moment, and overall a nice person and extremely accommodating.

Unlike the standard $2000+ wedding photo offers we received, Metin understood that we were having a small, family wedding with limited needs and a limited budget. He met with us at the venue weeks before the event, then came on time and worked tirelessly for four hours to chronicle every moment of our ceremony and reception. We are very happy with the memories he provided us. Highly recommended.

I hired Ashley to do my makeup for my Pre-Wedding photo shoot (similar to an engagement shoot but longer and with more outfits) and she did an amazing job! Although our session ended up being shorter than we had expected (due to unforeseen circumstances), Ashley was able to do my makeup perfectly in such a short amount of time! I can't even imagine how much better it would have been if we had the full hour and a half. I usually don't wear makeup on a daily basis, and I was a bit worried about how I would look with a full face of makeup (false lashes and all), but she did a great job of making me still look me. Don't hesitate to hire her if you are in the need of an great makeup artist~

Judith and Jossi are kind and professional, and it was fun to have my trial hair and makeup done by them. I only had vague ideas of what I wanted for my updo and makeup, but these artists did their magic and I was amazed by the outcome. I trust them completely with my and my bridesmaids' hair and makeup on my wedding day.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
