I have gotten a series of guitar lessons from Stevie. The progress I've made is amazing. If you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere to ask questions and learn to play guitar, Matthews is your guy. He is passionate about music and your ability to get better. I'm very excited to continue to learn more.
I've been taking beginner acoustic guitar lessons this summer with Gregg. He is patient, upbeat, and great at putting together a flexible program that will meet your particular goals. The studio is conveniently located in DC, and guitars available to use during lessons so you don't need to lug your instrument around town.
Dan's a fantastic teacher because he makes you want to be a better musician. He uses different ways of instructing that specifically cater to your tastes and interests. He's familiar with a wide range of music, genres, and instruments. I came to Dan for beginner guitar lessons, but ended up gaining much more musical knowledge than I could have ever imagined. Dan helped me with the technicalities of the guitar, and helped me refine and add to my skill as a drummer of 11 years. In Jam Class, we played everything from James Brown to Nirvana. Dan is able to foster a great community of musicians within Jam Class, and will not only teach you to play, but to perform and work with other musicians.
I took beginner guitar lessons from Damon under auspices of Howard County Rec. & Parks; he is very straightforward and patient, while exhibiting fantastic skills. I have enjoyed his performances, whether at Pubs or outdoors @ Centennial Park pavilion.
Mr. Walls is an enthusiastic and patient teacher. As a choir member at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton for the past fifteen years, I have been able to sing liturgical music, and participate with other choirs in singing more complex pieces of music, such as requiems and compositions for rites of the church and special occasions. Our choir has sung in various languages, and joined other choirs in ecumenical choir fests. Mr. Walls has studied music composition, conducting, and history, and is an accomplished musician on several instruments, including the piano, organ, and guitar. He has several years teaching experience in the U.S. and abroad. I would say Mr. Walls' expertise and talent are second to none.
When I started lessons with Larry, I had been taking guitar lessons for three years under a learn by learning songs method. I didnt know exactly what I needed, but I knew that I wanted get deeper into music, both theoretically and in my guitar work. I tend towards a combination approach of intellectual and emotional, and I value doing things well, and seeing its link to the larger picture of music. When I pursued Larry as a teacher, I realized I was taking a next step. What I found in Larry as a teacher and person is an expert in blues music and in how to teach music, particularly guitar. He has piqued my intellectual interest and challenges me to keep learning both the guitar techniques and theory. I didnt know exactly what I was looking for, but this was ita Peabody Institute-quality education mixed with blues experience, theory and then throw in endless stories about music from the sixties onward, because Larry was there. You can read his bio for all of the things hes done, and theyre numerous, but I keep learning more. Most importantly, though, Larry is a great teacher. I trust Larry, and I know he sees something in me. He is a cheerleader-style coach, but an honest one. I know that when Larry tells me that I have potential or talent in a certain area, that hes telling the truth. Hell be just as honest when Im not doing something well, also. Larry has a system that works, and he knows how to teach it and adapt it to my style of learning. My understanding of music, my ear especially, has grown leaps and bounds since taking lessons from himI no longer feel frustrated, like Im missing something. I know that if I continue to practice what he is teaching me, I am going to be an expert at guitar and will perform publicly. Larry is an amazing resource, a wonderful teacher, a composer, and a pretty funny guy. Most importantly hes serious about, and seriously involved with and expert in musiches inspired me and hell inspire you.
My ten year old daughter absolutely loves working with Diane, with whom she has been working for about one year. Her voice has improved tremendously and she is also learning guitar. From a beginner just a few months ago she can now play some pretty cool songs! She always leaves every lesson with a smile. One thing that I really appreciate is that Diane is teaching my daughter the right way to sing so that she will not damage her voice. Whenever we knock on the door to start a lesson, Diane is there with a smile and some amazing energy, and I always know that my daughter will have a great experience with a wonderful role model.
Carey is a master guitar player with decades of experience training, performing and teaching but that shouldn’t scare away beginners! Carey’s enthusiasm for the guitar is contagious, but more importantly, he has a patient and direct manner of communication that cuts straight to the essentials. He’s got a tremendous sense of humor, too. I can’t imagine a more perfect combination in a teacher!
guitar lessons with Alex for more than year and a half (stopped due to relocation.) He is a very talented guitarist with a great personality and experiences to teach adults (like me) and children. Alex is capable to focus on tailoring his teaching materials to target his students guitar's level from as basic as a beginner like me to a more advanced individual; as well as to target different age groups. After several lessons, he's motivated me and asked of my interest by introducing the knowledge of guitar styles, such as chords, finger styles and many more, from that on, he's organized a series of songs and evaluated the songs/styles that would be more effectively on me based on my guitar style. His incredibly patience and mellow personalities make his students feel comfortable and very flexible on scheduling. Alex's charisma, skillful guitar techniques and personality provide him with a great overall presentation as a guitar teacher, and not only with rich teaching experience but his qualification, knowledge and music degree to back him up. I strongly recommend him. Alex (student)
Anthony has been providing beginner lessons for my daughter and me for almost a year now. He has an extensive knowledge of music and has used that to tailor individual lesson plans for each of us, allowing us to learn via music we're comfortable with. This keeps us motivated and focused on picking up the chords that our favorite artists use. He's also very patient about the limited amount of time that I can devote to practice, while still coaching me into showing marked improvement- no small feat. Great instructor and I recommend him highly.
Alex has been a patient and attentative guitar teacher for my two young children ages 5 and 7. He keeps them engaged and interested throughout their entire lesson. It takes a special person to be able to work with very young children.
Victor has been my guitar teacher for 2 years. He is not only a phenomenal musician versed in several styles, he is an excellent teacher. He is patient and makes learning the guitar fun. He teaches basics of technique and theory but also really listens to where I want to go with my guitar-playing. He has helped me find my own style and has also helped me become more confident in my abilities as a guitar player. I highly recommend his services.
My name is John Miller, I am 46 years old and have never played a musical insturment in my life, however, I have always wanted to. About 4 months ago I started taking guitar lessons from Dave once a week and it has really been a lot of fun! The best part of working with Dave is he gets you playing songs that you know and like right away, even if you are just a beginner. If you've always wanted to be a "Rock Star" I highly recommend you try taking a guitar lesson from Dave Jacobson.
As a beginner, I was in search for a patient and dependable guitar instructor. Bernardo went above and beyond to ensure my learning experience was fun and productive. He did not bog me down with technicalities alone but rather instilled a sense of listening needed for aspiring musicians to succeed. Most importantly, he taught me the value of being responsible for my own learning experience, I took his advice seriously and excelled. Thank you Bernardo!
It's not easy to find the right piano teacher. Some pianists with too much skill don't teach beginners; some that teach beginners don't have enough skill. Some piano teachers are too over-bearing and some are too lax. Amor manages to put it all together in the right combination. He is obvioulsy extremely qualified and talented, but also knows how to teach, and teach effectively. I plan to continue my daughter's lesson as long as I can.
