They moved a piano and a wine cabinet up a flight of steps into my apartment courteously, safely, and quickly. I would hire them again when I have things to move.
Bobby, from Gary's handyman service, fixed a kitchen cabinet drawer for me. He did the job quickly and it was affordable. Would use this company again.
Steve was super-efficient with most of the tasks he came to do, e.g. fixing a desk lamp, reinstalling a handle on a bathroom cabinet, affix hooks for curtain tiebacks, etc. He charges a fixed amount per hour, so his ability to work rapidly and do the job well was very welcome. On the last task--fixing a (relatively new) salt-grinder the handle of which had refused to grind/turn--things proved harder than both he and I thought. It took a long time and yet it remained unfixed after all was said and done. It may have been better to just let it go much earlier (thus saving me some money) but I guess the hope was that he would be able to fix it at the end of the day. But generally I am satisfied with how nearly all of the the handyman tasks went. One PS note: I had no problems with the issue many mentioned, re him not showing up etc. However, I did raise this point I saw in other reviews with him upfront, and he explained that he doesn't set appointments to show up without speaking to the client. Easy enough, I spoke with him and all went well on this front.
I hired Antonio (Tony) Sanchez from Renaissance Restoration to complete a kitchen renovation this past fall (sorry I did not get around to completing this review sooner!). I did all the demolition, but the job included lights and electrical, plumbing repair, cabinet and counter top install, appliance install, and painting. Tony gave a very reasonable estimate and personally worked on my project with his assistant from start to finish as opposed to having one of his employees complete the job. As he began the job, he soon realized that virtually nothing from the original construction was square (townhouse was built in 1987). However, that did not phase him as he had the skills to adjust making those imperfections unnoticeable in the end. In addition, Tony has skills in most of the trades which meant that he did not have to sub different parts of the job out; he did all the electrical, plumbing and carpentry himself. The best part of my experience working with Tony was that he discussed and explained different options or ways of completing a task to ensure there were no surprises, and I was impressed with his willingness to even teach me a little along the way. He was flexible in allowing me to have a friend install the tile floor and was understanding of my need to stick to a rather tight budget. There are only two comments I could make for overall improvement: cleanliness and timeliness. On a couple of occasions, I had to discard empty food containers and drinks that had been left behind. I attributed this to oversight and could be easily improved by making an effort to clean up the work site after each day of work. Considering it was not a space I was using though, it was not that big of a deal. As for timeliness, the project took longer than expected to complete. However, I know that my involvement did have some impact on the schedule and the fact he was doing the work himself while still managing other jobs is a factor. I would not hesitate to bring Tony in for another project in the future. I am completely satisfied with his work and would recommend him to anyone.
Evan painted my entire condo, including ceilings and kitchen cabinets. He was always punctual, very professional, and did a fantastic job at a great price! I highly recommend him.
Marvin and his crew were excellent. I could not have asked for a better experience as a first time user of this website. We had our dining room, living room, family room and kitchen all painted within a day. I asked about painting my stairway and upstairs hallway and they came back the very next day and finished the job in less than 3 hours. He and his crew were timely, extremely professional, clean and the results were phenomenal. I would highly recommend R&D remodeling for interior painting.
We will absolutely hire Mr. Tweed again!! We bought an IKEA kitchen and realized we couldn't build it alone. Mr. Tweed to the rescue! He did demo, even hauled our wreck of a kitchen for us! He figured out how to build, modify, and install our IKEA kitchen. Seriously, the whole kitchen. Besides cabinets, he cut and installed our beautiful butcher block counter tops. He installed our new appliances. He did all new plumbing. When I say he did it all- he really did! Our kitchen is beautiful! He was extremely professional. When the time comes to remodel the bathroom: We are going to hire him!
Jorge was professional, he arrived on time and the rate was resonable. He painted the kitchen cabinets, living room and dining and finished the job faster than he'd initially estimated and everything looked amazing. I'd definitely hire him again!
My experience with The Cabinet Guy was great. He worked so carefully and neatly in my home. His process is efficient, while ensuring care for the items in my home. He made sure to protect all areas from dust and dirt while painting all of my kitchen cabinets. The outcome was beautiful and flawless cabinets!
If you want quality work at a fair price you should definitely try Davis Handyman. I hired Cliff Davis to renovate our unfinished basement and create a mother-in-law suite, including bedroom, bathroom, laundry area, kitchen, living area and even a little deck outside the new french doors. The work included installing all new electric, plus plumbing, including a sump pump for the basement plumbing. Cliff was organized, showed up on time every day and actually finished the job a little ahead of schedule. He takes great pride in his work and is a man of his word. I will definitely hire him again for any jobs we need done around the house. FIVE STARS!!!
I contracted Unlimited Resources, Inc. for a designer paint job and the installation of exotic hardwood floors throughout my living room and family room and ceramic flooring in the kitchen. I was hesitant about the paint combination because I was stepping outside of my box but Mr. Litman advised me through the purchases and I was thoroughly pleased with the end result. I picked out a very expensive exotic wood which would have to be ordered and would take weeks to arrive and I was working within a tight timeline to have the work completed. Mr. Litman was able to locate the wood in the metropolitan area and completed the project in an expeditious manner. My neighbors and family have asked to see the finished work and I've received rave reviews! I wouldn't hesitate to use Unlimited Resources, Inc. for future home improvement endeavors.
I hired JJ Contracting to install a backsplash in my kitchen. They responded quickly and did the work on time, as expected and at a fair price. There were a few areas that weren't perfect but they came back to repair them the best they could. I would use them again for other projects.
Months ago, I looked for someone to do a small painting project on Thumbtack. And I ended up with a brand new home. Christian, Jessica, Hector and the rest of the team at 5th Gen Group honestly do miracles. We own a 100+ year old row home in Washington DC and we've had problems ever since we moved in five years ago. After dealing with four different contractors that left me unsatisfied, I tried Thumbtack (at that time, new in the DC area). Christian came out to do an estimate and I was impressed by him from the get go - as a woman, I hate when contractors act like I'm stupid or uninformed. Christian never did that, and he answered all my questions respectfully and thoroughly and would defer to my wishes. We initially contracted for a gut remodel of our ancient kitchen and leaking bathroom. Christian's professional opinion was heavily appreciated as well as his vision - he instantly "got" the feel of a space and spent a lot of time listening to not only what we wanted, but how we would use the space and what we planned for the house in the future. Of course, the best laid plans always go awry - we knew our house had a few "handyman specials" but once Christian opened up the floor in the kitchen, we realized we were really in for it. Down there was a hidden mess of rotting wires, missing piping, garbage from the last renovations, and rotted-out beams. Overnight, our budget doubled. I personally wanted to die. But Christian calmly lead us through the process, helped us try to salvage our murdered budget, and focused on explaining the trade-off in home values. We ended up with an additional half bath downstairs (because really, what was another 5K at that point?), brand new kitchen (with a small bar!) a brand new stairwell and relocated laundry room, and a brand new bathroom with a shower (after 5 years of an ancient leaking cast iron tub). Christian isn't completely perfect - he's totally a perfectionist, and if you are one too, be prepared for some long conversations. There is an epic texting exchange over the bathroom tile that I may print out just to see how long it really was. But that's about the only thing. Also, for the other ladies on here- I always hate opening my home to someone because I have had bad experiences with contractors who were, at best, creepy. Christian and Hector were completely professional, and they really went the extra mile to make sure I always knew who would be in the house, when they would arrive, and how to reach both of them. Christian also has a lot of loyalty and integrity toward his clients - he is always fair, both in pricing and in the treatment of your home. He broke a small appliance - the only reason I knew was because he called me when he was purchasing an (upgraded) replacement on his own dime. All renovations are hard projects, long projects, and frequently frustrating. There was definitely a day when I wanted to kill Christian for sending me out to two different quarries in far out Virginia right around rush around. But when I stepped into my home for the first time, I couldn't stop smiling. And when we finally scrape together the budget for a third floor extension, I know exactly who I am calling.
We hired Laird Custom Painting to paint and glaze our maple kitchen cabinets. Every step of the process was a breeze from our initial meeting, to preparing custom samples to completion the work was done in a timely and profession manor. I will hire them again if I have any further painting needs.
We had our kitchen cabinets repainted and couldn't be more satisfied with how everything turned out. Andrey was very professional in communicating with us, helping us determine exactly what we wanted in a finished product, fitting us into his already busy schedule and even working around some issues we had with another project overlapping in his work area that unexpectedly took much longer than anticipated. We especially appreciated his attention to detail, giving a fifth coat of paint to the lower cabinets to ensure they looked perfect, re-installing the hardware and putting new bumpers on the doors.
Jon from Passport Painting did a fantastic job painting our great room, kitchen, entryway/foyer/stairs, and formal living room, at a very competitive and reasonable price. He has great attention to detail and was very respectful of our home. He was also very flexible and understanding, as we decided to have him change the color of our kitchen after he had already painted it! He was very trustworthy working in our home. He also cleaned up each room at the end of the day after painting. Beyond his workmanship, Jon is a great person to get to know. Overall, we were very impressed with his level of service and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a painter.
Jaime far exceeded my expectations! I hired him to paint my kitchen cabinets and I was blown away by the process as well as the end result. The cabinets look like they were manufactured white - they started out as a medium toned wood. Jaime was prompt, responsive, and efficient; my cabinets were finished in 2 days. Will definitely hire him again for my next painting project!
I HIGHLY recommend Property Solutions!! I had to move suddenly and needed to paint my entire 3-story townhouse (doors, ceilings, trim, walls) quickly. Jason came by my house to give me an estimate on the same day that I posted the job. His bid kicked every other bid’s a$$ by far and he was able to schedule a 4 man crew so the job could be done in one day. Their customer service and work were so EXCELLENT that I also hired them to install carpet, paint my kitchen cabinets, and reglaze a bathroom vantit.
I hired Raul to replace the cabinet above my refrigerator, replace my bathroom fan, and redo the caulking around my tub. He and his helper did an excellent job with all three, within the estimated time (3 hours), and at the quoted price. Raul came to the house to provide a free estimate several days before the work was done. Raul communicated with me throughout the project to ensure that his plans would give me the results I was looking for. I was impressed by his attention to detail and his willingness to come back and install a filler piece for the cabinet when the one I purchased was too small. I highly recommend Raul and Bellacasa Handyman Services for any handyman job around the house.
My kitchen is a dream kitchen. Manuel and crew are finishing up today painting the walls. They installed an exhaust fan and pergo flooring ... an excellent job ... my husband and I are very pleased with their work style. We give them an A+.
I was very pleased what Pam helped me do to get the Kitchen that I was happy with. Pam helped me pick out the right Cabinets, Backsplash, Counter Top and Floor, that complimented my kitchen that fit my taste. I was back in my kitchen in no time. I would recommend her to anyone, she goes out of her way to make you happy and helps you keep in your budget.
