Alex Rickeman: Marriage and Family Therapist
About this pro
I am one of the only professionals in Carroll County who is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist. While other therapists do offer "marriage therapy" or "couples counseling," I have training and experience specifically in therapy for couples (or to individuals who are coping with issues related to their relationships). I enjoy helping couples learn more effective ways of communicating with each other so that they can reconnect and build the relationship they have been. I also love being able to help families by helping the family's leaders--the parents. One of the reasons I originally became a therapist was out of a desire to help children. I have found one of the ways I can best help improve the lives of children is by helping their parents have a satisfying and functional marriage.
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I am an out of network provider. While this means I won't submit to your insurance company directly (as an in-network provider would), costs of your therapy may still be covered under your out of network benefits. You could then submit for reimbursement.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We email to set up a first assessment appointment. During that appointment, we start with me getting background information on you and your relationship. By the end of that appointment, I will give you ideas of what we will work together on, or focus on, in future appointments.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am licensed as a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist. During my Master's program, I went through videotaped supervision of my work so that I could gain the skills necessary for effective relationship counseling. I have been in practice since 2007, and continue to attend regular trainings relevant to my work.
