I cannot say enough good things about RB Construction (Remberto and his crew) on their work during our kitchen relocation. Honest, fair, reasonable price, quick and resourceful. You cannot beat their prices. I tried to on drywall, cabinet installation, painting, carpentry finish and tile work and nobody came close To make a long story short, I had him out to bid on patching drywall after electrician ran wiring and ending up hiring Remberto to finish the entire kitchen. We live in a house built in the 1930s and moved our old galley kitchen to the family room. Remberto and crew did a beautiful job on the tile work to include all the difficult subflooring work. They also did an excellent job on drywall and smoothing out transition with old plaster. Finally, they did an amazing job on installation of kitchen cabinets despite the fact that none of the walls were square or the ceiling level, as well as the custom installation of a 300 lb. country sink. They are true craftsmen! I wish I would have found Remberto when I start my remodel job. He would have saved me time, money and headaches.
Gary is a great guy. Showed up on time and was very polite. Helped put together a desk for my daughter as well as paint her room. Very happy with the results.
Francisco and his assistant were very professional and friendly. They installed grass cloth wallpaper and did an excellent job. They also installed wallpaper on my powder room ceiling and painted the ceiling of my dining room which came out beautiful. As an Interior Designer, I am very pleased and happy I hired Francisco.
The contractors were on time and very professional. Antonio and his crew did a great job installing our wall murals and left a clean room once they were done. I would use them again.
Ernest was prompt, professional, courteous, and skilled. He made quick work of our conference room installations. Highly recommended.
They were prompt and did excellent work painting my living room, dining room, hallway and entrance. I plan to use them again for various projects (not just painting) around my house.
We had multiple contractors tell us what we wanted done was impossible or not worth their time. It was a small job (just one cabinet that needed to be cut in half to open up the room), but it took an entire day and a high level of skill and detail to complete. Henry was the ONLY one that said this could be done and that he would be able to maintain the detail on the cabinet (instead of just cutting the cabinet in half with a straight edge and forgetting the detail work). The job is done and I couldn’t be more pleased!! You can’t even tell the cabinet was cut...that’s how good his detail work was!! Excellent attention to detail, patience and skilled work!!
Ivan arrived on time and was professional. He was able to also install 4 recessed lights in another room in addition to installing the drywall in the basement.
I am very satisfied with the work Lee did at my house today. I originally hired him to replace my dining room light fixture but ended requesting a few days prior to his visit that he also replace an outlet for me. He did both in about an hour and a half. He was very kind and helpful. He did a great job with both things and I thought his prices were very fair. I will gladly use his services again.
Sandy and her crew are great! I had many alterations to my original project and they worked with me to get it right. Blue-tooth switches and LED recessed lighting in family room, LED lights in basement and new switches, researched and proposed the correct configurations...the whole gamut. Matt, the electrician worked in less than good conditions as my basement was quite full of stuff. The gentlemen who DD dry way patching and painting were great too. They covered EVERYTHING and made certain that I was satisfied when done. They even painted the entire ceiling when it was evident that the paint did not match. Give Sandy a call! I was pleased at her quick response, as well!
Months ago, I looked for someone to do a small painting project on Thumbtack. And I ended up with a brand new home. Christian, Jessica, Hector and the rest of the team at 5th Gen Group honestly do miracles. We own a 100+ year old row home in Washington DC and we've had problems ever since we moved in five years ago. After dealing with four different contractors that left me unsatisfied, I tried Thumbtack (at that time, new in the DC area). Christian came out to do an estimate and I was impressed by him from the get go - as a woman, I hate when contractors act like I'm stupid or uninformed. Christian never did that, and he answered all my questions respectfully and thoroughly and would defer to my wishes. We initially contracted for a gut remodel of our ancient kitchen and leaking bathroom. Christian's professional opinion was heavily appreciated as well as his vision - he instantly "got" the feel of a space and spent a lot of time listening to not only what we wanted, but how we would use the space and what we planned for the house in the future. Of course, the best laid plans always go awry - we knew our house had a few "handyman specials" but once Christian opened up the floor in the kitchen, we realized we were really in for it. Down there was a hidden mess of rotting wires, missing piping, garbage from the last renovations, and rotted-out beams. Overnight, our budget doubled. I personally wanted to die. But Christian calmly lead us through the process, helped us try to salvage our murdered budget, and focused on explaining the trade-off in home values. We ended up with an additional half bath downstairs (because really, what was another 5K at that point?), brand new kitchen (with a small bar!) a brand new stairwell and relocated laundry room, and a brand new bathroom with a shower (after 5 years of an ancient leaking cast iron tub). Christian isn't completely perfect - he's totally a perfectionist, and if you are one too, be prepared for some long conversations. There is an epic texting exchange over the bathroom tile that I may print out just to see how long it really was. But that's about the only thing. Also, for the other ladies on here- I always hate opening my home to someone because I have had bad experiences with contractors who were, at best, creepy. Christian and Hector were completely professional, and they really went the extra mile to make sure I always knew who would be in the house, when they would arrive, and how to reach both of them. Christian also has a lot of loyalty and integrity toward his clients - he is always fair, both in pricing and in the treatment of your home. He broke a small appliance - the only reason I knew was because he called me when he was purchasing an (upgraded) replacement on his own dime. All renovations are hard projects, long projects, and frequently frustrating. There was definitely a day when I wanted to kill Christian for sending me out to two different quarries in far out Virginia right around rush around. But when I stepped into my home for the first time, I couldn't stop smiling. And when we finally scrape together the budget for a third floor extension, I know exactly who I am calling.
Eric trimmed our wood floors in a bedroom, hallway and living room with 3/4" wood strips as well as added stained wood transition strips to several entry ways. There was a very low initial quote posted and that's why we contacted Eric. When he came out to assess the work initially he gave us a high quote, but when I suggested a different method he was able to give us a more reasonable rate. He came in prepared and really did the work in good time. He completed all but 1 transition strip because he didn't bring enough but he did return and complete it all in a short time. We were very pleased with the work he did, the cost and the time he took. I would recommend him again. Our 4/5 stars comes from some (and there are few) edges that didn't quite look right to my husband. But overall we were very pleased.
Brandon painted my living room, dining room, and hallway. I picked out two contrasting colors. One of the colors I purchased was supposed to come out gray/silver, and instead it came out baby blue. He was very patient while I decided what to do, giving me his honest opinion that it would be best to purchase a different color. While I was gone, he kept busy and worked hard. He was absolutely delightful to work with and did a great job!
Greg did several projects in our house--he remodeled a powder room, installed two sliding doors, completed some window repair, fixed our patio and did some smaller projects around our house that needed to be done. He did a great job-was neat, professional, organized, responsive, and the quality of the work was excellent.
VIP did a water damage response which involved removal of damaged drywall and insulation in several rooms and using fans to dry out the space. Julian and his team were true professionals with great attitudes. They did their job on time and at a reasonable price while also taking good care of our home while in it. Julian is extremely responsive and I would absolutely recommend his services.
They were very professional & and super quick!! Thank you again & can't wait to finish my other rooms!!
Ben Dossey painted my family room in an old farmhouse. He made it look like a "new room". He is very detailed and does excellent work. He is very thorough and strives for perfection!
Had a new bathroom installed. Gutted the entire room, raised the ceiling. Hard workers. Worked long hours to get the job done. Ran into some problems with my house being old. They worked hard to make sure everything was good before installation of new products. Project ran longer than expected because of my choices. Bathroom is beautiful. Polite workers & owner. Would recommend highly.
Larry's guys did some great work. My wife and I concocted a plan to divide our oblong bedroom and extend the closet. Larry's foreman Carlos made short work of tearing out the old front wall of the closet, framing a new extended wall and adding a wall with pocket doors to turn one long room into two.
Winthorpe Design and Build renovated our kitchen, bathroom, living room and family room and they did an excellent job. Scott and his team are totally professional. They designed, purchased and installed tile flooring, tiles walls, concrete counter tops and fixtures. Dave helped us solve a problem with a door and window that were leaking into the kitchen and living room. Krag designed everything and helped us select the tiles, counters, fixtures and everything we needed. Most importantly, they worked well with us as a family, making it as convenient as possible for us. I strongly recommend Winthorpe Design and Build Joan Washington D.C.
On residential renovation for my family room renovation - I couldn't thank Chun-Fa enough for his wise suggestions of 1) appropriately widening the patio door opening, 2) centering the door on that side of wall, when I decided to replace the old French door to the patio with a sliding patio door at the end of last year. He proposed the overall design/layout and listened to my comments and adjusted the detail architecture drawings swiftly for me to submit to HOA for approval as well as for Andersen Windows people to price and construct. Even though this proposal did attribute to a slight increase of the overall renovation cost, it is well-worth the investment, as it turned out. He also advised me to install a pair of louver on the exterior wall of the patio door, which not only beautified the overall look, but also smartly hide any potential settling crack between the old and new stucco walls. In summary, he is pleasant, considerate and reasonable to deal with. I'd highly recommend Chun-Fa for your renovation projects. You will be happily surprised on how good and trust-worthy he is!!
