Introduction: As a violin and viola teacher in the Greater Portland area, I work with my students to create individualized lesson plans. By tailoring my approach to the individual, I can help students reach their full potential. Whether you're a driven high school student looking to make a career out of music, brand new to the instrument, or returning to music later in life, I can help you fulfill your goals.
My schooling was primarily founded in classical performance, but I also have experience as a gigging fiddler. I love teaching both genres, and anything else a student might have interest in.
Health, posture, and mindful practice are the core tenets of my teaching. My goal is to educate students on how to stay healthy and comfortable while learning an uncomfortable new skill. I also find that the most valuable skill one can learn from a music teacher is not how to play your instrument, but instead how to PRACTICE it. If you can learn how to use your practice time more efficiently, how to be excited to practice, and how to solve complex problems on your own, this is when you can soar. Let me teach you how to teach yourself!
