Tom was a wonderful speaker to end our nursing conference. His ability to use his personal stories to motivate and encourage a group of nurses from various disciplines was impressive. Toms presentation was a combination of; funny, serious, emotional, motivating, and thought provoking. Even tough Toms background and experience is in the corporate world, his words and message can be applied to any profession. My favorite part of the presentation was Jack. Toms story of Jack brought tears to my eyes. It was so lovely to hear Tom explain how the life of someone living with Cystic Fibrosis is exactly that- its about living! I want to personally thank Tom for all his time and energy he put towards; preparing, traveling, speaking and following up after the conference. It is safe to say Tom is committed to his work. - Laura Smith MSN, RN, CNE Conference by the Bay committee member and Faculty at Margaret H. Tom was hired by Merck to conduct a group training session on Effective Interactions and Communication Skills at a Northeastern Sales Meeting. The feedback from the sales reps was outstanding! They felt they learned a great deal from his instruction and are very motivated to start using their new tools for improving their communication skills! We highly recommend Tom Dowd !!May 26, 2016Verified
I attended Tom's speech at a local chamber breakfast meeting prior to giving a speech myself at the USRowing annual convention in Jacksonville. I have given mediocre speeches in the past and, this time, really wanted to improve--quickly. With one email and one intensive, hour-long practice session, my speech making skills improved dramatically. I was able to convey detailed information (mixed with some exemplary personal stories) at a national meeting. People expressed their thanks afterwards and I held my own as a presenter at that level surrounded by experienced speakers. Tom's advice is practical, reality-based, and easily implemented even by the most seasoned (and fearful) introvert. I was delighted to find an excellent business coach in Maine with his knowledge and ability to communicate. Thank you, Tom, for empowering me to give a good speech--and, I won't stop practicing!Dec 9, 2014
