Joel was very personable and knowledgeable and he managed to remove some stains that previous cleaners failed to do. My carpets look like new again! He also did an excellent job on 3 oriental carpets that I had done along with the wall-to-wall carpeting. Much cleaner than other carpet cleaners that I've used and less moisture involved than previous cleaning methods used. Outstanding work!

At first, we only hired Amanda as a last-minute replacement for our previous cleaner. Fortunately she was able to fit us in right away, which was wonderful. But the real treat was how much cleaner our place has felt since she has been doing the cleaning. In fact, we were so happy with her cleaning that we have hired her to do all of our cleaning (we have an Airbnb) from now on. Her work is extremely professional, very detailed, and thorough. Our place has never felt so clean. Amanda is also a pleasure to work with. She is very flexible and easy to reach as well. I wholeheartedly recommend her. We couldn't be happier with her cleaning services!

Sarah has cleaned our home a couple times now. She did a great job! She also follows up to see if anything was missed or we needed anything else done. We also have a dog and Sarah didn't mind having him follow her around while cleaning. I would definitely recommend Sarah!

Sally was very helpful with communication. She assured me she has the right products necessary to get the job requirements done. The cleaning service provided was supposed to be like a post construction cleaning because I had some drywall repair done which left my first floor covered in drywall dust. The cleaning crew did a good job, but I wouldn't say thorough. They missed a couple fairly obvious areas. Also the walls were supposed to be wiped down and I don't believe they were. Overall I was happy. They arrived about a half hour before the expected time, and cleaned for approx 1hr 15min and got the first floor a lot cleaner than I would have in that time, and gives me the opportunity to focus on the more intricate cleaning like de-cluttering my cabinets and such. lol. They also got me bamboo wood floor much cleaner than it's been in quite some time. The cleaning crew was respectful and professional. I was charged $245. This service was paid for by the company responsible for the drywall repair in my home, I'm not sure I would pay this much money for this service again in the future though.

We needed a last minute deep cleaning of our beach house we rent out for the summer. Mike at Casco Bay Cleaners was very responsive, and quoted us a very reasonable rate for a next day booking. The team on the ground however thought we had booked a regular house cleaning, not a full deep clean. I reached out to Mike and he immediately apologized for the miscommunication and worked with us on a resolution within minutes. Mistakes happen, and that's the kind of company I want to hire - a company that will admit their error, and then make it right. Plus, cleaners Mado and Fausta really did a great job, and were kind and friendly to boot. I would definitely recommend them!

We've been using 4 Corners Clean for the past six months and couldn't be happier - they visit every two weeks and clean our house top to bottom. When I walk in the door after their visit, I can just smell the clean - what a treat after a long day at work. Everything is spotless and I don't even think about buying cleaning supplies anymore - you know, always looking for that perfect product. We've had other cleaners before and I have to say 4 Corners is the best. They are professional, trust worthy, and responsive to our concerns. Their prices are also very competitive. I highly recommend them.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

    • Old standard or electric toothbrush
    • Stiff bristle brush
    • Spray bottle
    • White vinegar
    • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.
