About this pro
Derek and I have worked together on a variety of projects, including graphic design, web design, typography, and much more. Derek is both resourceful and knowledgeable. He works diligently, finding practical solutions to complex problems. Even out of his areas of expertise, he delivers valuable opinions and input. His expertise, patience, and willingness to help have been indispensable to many of my projects.Dec 21, 2013
Derek is a Fantastic web designer and SEO guru. He built my site, cloned it, redesigned it and added so many features I can barely keep track. The cost was competitive and I know he threw in free work even if he didn't admit it. I refer him to every other business owner who mentions their website.Dec 19, 2013
I've been working with Derek on numerous projects over the last year. He is creative, punctual and always eager to get the job done to my (or my client's) liking. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking a web/graphic designer.Dec 18, 2013
Derek has not only done an awesome job building my website (which has gotten a lot of positive feedback) but is volunteering hours to help our nonprofit organization, which helps people with mental illness, get our website up and running. (not done yet). He is easy to work with (and I'm not the most easy person to work with because I know nothing about web design and tend to be fairly indecisive) and his follow through is excellent. His rates are reasonable and you get a quality site.Dec 18, 2013

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My hourly rate is typically $60/hr. For larger projects, I will spend time researching and estimating how long it will take where I will then propose a fixed price for the project.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am constantly reading about new trends in web development and design. I also love to challenge myself with projects that are more and more intensive which forces me to research and learn more. I am always learning.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I was building sites for fun! I started building ridiculous sites for practice... like one that was a forum/gallery of videos and photos of cats on leashes - Leashcats.com. After learning the basics, I kept at it until I got good enough to start doing it as a career! I had some help from one of my design professors who took me under her wing and gave me a design internship at infocusdesign.net. She taught me a lot about WordPress, CSS, and HTML.
