- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
One of the best parts of being an event planner is meeting new people. I'm here to make my client happy, to help ease their mind and to create a beautiful, memorable event. In order to do that, Most of my work is done "behind the scenes" but I think it's important to have an initial consultation (either by phone, coffee shop or home) with my clients. I want to hear about their vision, their hopes and goals for the event, while also understanding their parameters of time, money and space.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I grew into this line of 'work'. I have always loved to throw a party, have a theme, get dressed up, to make an 'experience' out of an occasion for my guests. More and more, people would say, "You should do this for a living!". I see each event as a painter probably does when they see a blank canvas. So many ideas! So many possibilities!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
My advice would be to hire someone with enthusiasm. Any moment in life can be a reason to celebrate, to have fun and to be creative. You also want someone who will listen to what you want and put those needs first.
