Introduction: “The only reason for mastering technique is to make sure the body does not prevent the soul from expressing itself.” -La Meri I’ve been playing violin for over 20 years, and one of the greatest rewards is passing along all I’ve learned to my students! I’m here to help you reach your goals and cheer you on along the way, whether you want to simply have fun learning a new skill or you want to work intensely toward a performance or audition. I care deeply about providing a safe and engaging learning environment to help my students thrive. I would love to teach you or your child! Distinguishing features: ~I hold degrees from top music schools where I studied with violin teachers known as among the best in the country. I hold dual master’s degrees in violin performance and chamber music from the University of Michigan where I studied with Colburn alum Danielle Belen, winner of the 2008 Sphinx Competition and former teaching assistant to Robert Lipsett. I earned my bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Oberlin Conservatory with Juilliard alum David Bowlin, winner of the 2003 Washington International Competition and founding member of the International Contemporary Ensemble. ~I’m classically trained but have experience performing pop music and other genres as well. ~I provide a holistic and well-rounded teaching approach as I’ve taken classes and read books on topics such as brain science and learning, physical wellness for musicians, string pedagogy (which included study of the Suzuki approach), Baroque violin, and fiddle music and improvisation. ~I invite my students to send me recordings in between lessons to help keep motivation and momentum up (at no additional cost). I’m happy to teach you virtually from anywhere in the world. If you’re in the Washington DC area, I would love to teach you in person! I am located in Logan Circle (zip code 20005), or I may be able to travel to your location for an additional fee. I would love to hear from you!

Christine is an extremely talented violinist with a great passion for playing and teaching. She is so kind, and very encouraging! She really goes above and beyond and tries to think of new and creative ways to help her students. I improved a lot with the time I spent taking lessons from her, and having the opportunity to play with her! She is the best teacher!

I researched several musicians to hire for my brother's funeral, and Christine was able to accommodate my request at such a quick turnaround time and was very reasonable with pricing. Christine is talented and professional! I saw the reviews online, and they were all accurate. Christine's reviews do not capture how amazing she is; Christine was friendly, understanding, professional, and genuine. She was very responsive and showed up ahead of time of the service. Again her musical piece captured our emotions and pain. I wish I had a recording of it, but I appreciate her so much and thank her for being a part of such a life-changing day.

I would highly recommend Christine if you are looking for a violin teacher . She is not only a very talented musician, but an exceptional teacher. My daughter is a beginner violin student at 5 years old and Christine is able to create lessons that not only hold her interest but has her begging for longer and more frequent lessons. Christine took input from my daughter about what she was interested in and tailored her lessons to meet my daughters needs. We feel very lucky to have her as a teacher and highly recommend her.

Details: Younger than 6 years old • No formal training • No, the student cannot read music • What the teacher recommends • What the teacher recommends • No, but the student is planning to purchase a violin and would like the teacher's advice on it • 30 minutes • At the pro’s location • My home, venue, etc.
