5 years ago, weighing in at 378lbs, and a lack of motivation/ determination to do anything I decided to take my life back. The one constant thing in all this has been my personal trainer/ life coach Pete Haugabook. His unique meal plans, unmatched knowledge to weight lifting/ nutrition, and his ability to motivate makes him the best at what he does. To me, he’s not a trainer, he’s a friend. His meal plans won’t break the bank, and are extremely manageable. With his help, I have lost over 100lbs and have made fitness not only a routine, but a way of life.. Pete literally saved my life, and for that, I will always be grateful!

My name is jonathan..I had a sports related injury that was causing what I can only describe as lightning pain from lower spine to leg. In addition my legs were going numb. After one session with Sandee the pain went from a 10 to a 1.. My range of motion improved and my mental state.. It's cliche but without my health I have nothing.. I would recommend Sandee to any one suffering from pain or stress. She is professional and personable.. She has a true gift in helping people heal.

After establishing a few fitness goals for myself, I sought out the services of a professional who could help me reach them and was put in contact with Shannon. Although I came into our relationship with a foundational understanding of diet and exercise, Shannon did a tremendous job of educating me, answering all of my questions, and tailoring a program to fit my needs. She was equal parts cheerleader, coach, and (when I needed it), drill instructor and I could not be more happy with the results she helped me achieve. Whether you are just beginning a diet or exercise program for the first time or you are a seasoned gym rat looking to reach the next level in your fitness, I give Shannon my highest recommendation.

Mr. Paul Barr was my high school cross country coach for the past two years. At every practice he was always early. He taught the team how respect themselves as athletes and respect their bodies. He is beyond reliable and is well informed about physical and mental health. He saw potential in everyone, and made sure to highlight their skills in order for them to be their best. Paul is a great mentor and friend. He is willing to do anything to make sure you are able to give your all. I was considering running for university, and he was there for me. He believed that I could do it; he took time out of his personal life to make a running schedule and to coach me. He never once told me that I was incapable of doing anything. Paul is an all around great person; he is beyond reliable and responsible, he is organized, and he is willing to give 110% percent to ensure that you are physically and mentally healthy.

Connie has been a terrific coach. I've been working out with her consistently twice a week since June 2, 2017. She is completely reliable and punctual. Also always friendly and upbeat without being intrusive. She is supportive, nonjudgmental, and responsive to my physical status. She is eager to provide the specific type of training and any particular accommodations that I may need. In terms of the training itself, she has a huge repertoire and is always mixing it up to keep things fresh and keep my muscles working their hardest. Her knowledge is impressive. I recommend her most highly!

When I started working out at Health Targeted Solutions almost 3 years ago I was lost & hated myself for being so out of shape. I would hide in the corner of the gym hoping nobody would notice me. Luckily, Eli did notice. Eli Dobek, one of two trainers at the gym supported me every step of the way by encouraging me to push harder. Eli is knowledgeable, kind, supportive and determined to make you a better version of yourself. Don't get me wrong, Eli's workouts are tough & make me walk funny for days after. Every square inch of my body is sore after one of her weekend workouts but I love every second of it. I feel like I am in my 20's again and am stronger than I ever thought possible. I owe it all to the trainers at Health Targeted Solutions.

I first met Nada three years ago at a Women's journaling retreat. She is a great leader - she taught us how to look inward in order to improve relationships with others. Nada's teachings helped our small group bond with each other. Nada also does a wonderful job in coaching me over the phone with spiritual issues and provides positive feedback for my negative thought processes.

I did the 2 week detox and I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to do this for my body. The program is well laid out with meals planned and a shopping list ready, so all you have to do is do the shopping and cooking. The meals were wonderful and it was great leaning new things to give my body. I noticed I had more energy, I was less irritable, I loss weight and for those two weeks I had NO allergies. Jamie was right there to answer any questions along the way as well as each day you were sent educational material to guide and inform you on health and food. I would recommend this program, give it a try, you will be satisfied!!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.
