Dan Hysong, Personal Trainer Plus. I first meet Dan as a trainer at FitnessWorks in the New Center area of Detroit. Having a trainer was a new thing for me. I’ve always been a busy person but not an active one. At my age (late 70’s) that was taking a toll on me. Dan customized a program that helped me strengthen my arms, my back and my legs. We worked together and steadily I got in much better shape. And Covid came, FitnessWorks closed but over the summer we were able to meet at a close park. Then winter came, and I was not active at all. So when Dan started his Zoom classes it was perfect opportunity for me. I need Dan’s continual coaching to keep me fit. He listens to my needs, concerns and health issues noting all our good results. He is constantly tweaking my program so each session is fresh and inspiring. I shudder to think what my physical level would be without Dan’s expertise and guidance. He is a gentle, caring and special person. Sincerely, Judy Loyd

I strongly recommend Dan Hysong as a trainer. I initially did my personal training with Dan at a gym. When the gym shut down I started working with him online. This has worked out very well. At first I was a bit leery because I don't have the kind of machines at home that we had at the gym. Fortunately Dan was able to do a good job of building effective workouts using the equipment (mainly dumbbells and an inflatable ball) I have on hand. Dan is a very conscientious trainer. He keeps notes of my progress and pays attention to timing the routines in my workouts. I'm getting older, and Dan has done a lot to help me with balance and maintaining muscle strength. You might think I could do that myself, but I find that it is really helpful to have a trainer like Dan who has an excellent sense of how much to push me. He pushes me harder than I'd push myself, and I wind up glad that he did. In addition, Dan has helped me work through a number of special issues ranging from pulled muscles and plantar fasciitis to recovery from abdominal surgery. I'm always amazed when I describe some ache or pain and he sets up a stretch to relieve it. There is no question that this has improved my quality of life.

Dan has been my trainer for around six months, all of this time on Zoom. Dan is very adept at tailoring the workout to the online environment, working with the equipment I have at home. Dan addresses my exercise goals, which due to joint surgery, have changed over the time he's been my trainer. As we work on different muscle groups, he makes sure that all the related muscles are properly exercised. I'm impressed with his knowledge of anatomy and of training exercises. He is considerate of my limitations. While always challenging me to improve my abilities, he recognizes that pain is a reason to modify an exercise or to stop doing an exercise. I appreciate that Dan does the exercises with me. This is a good way for me to observe the proper form. With Dan I feel that I am getting a personalized workout. Dan takes notes with every exercise and refers to the notes from the previous session in designing the current one. Finally, Dan is generous with his time. He will make certain that the suite of exercises for the day is completed even if it means that the session will be longer than the allotted time. --- Kit F

Having Dan come to the house to help with an exercise program has really helped motivate me. Dan has tailored his wealth of training knowledge to help me go beyond the Physical Therapy I once received after a bad auto accident, and now I understand why maintaining an exercise program is essential to maintaining my health. Working with Dan is a very positive experience. I was hesitant to take on a trainer, however after looking at Dan's background I realized he could help me. I find Dan to be very patient and he has worked hard to develop a routine specific to address my exercise needs and health challenges. I also appreciate the time Dan takes to explain each exercise, and to make sure I am doing it correctly. I highly recommend Dan as a trainer, especially if you are hesitant to start an exercise program on your own.
