The guys did a great job. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because my pick up was supposed to be between 9-10 a.m. but they didn't pick up until after 7pm due to a change in another delivery. Not the guys fault AT ALL but it put a kink in my moving day just a bit. They took great care of my little piano and I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

This moving company is absolutely the best! Very friendly, took apart the 2 beds (both very heavy wood) with ease & reassembled them in record time. Also, moved a very heavy treadmill, kitchen set, living room furniture and a number of large heavy boxes. I would suggest this moving company to anyone. They helped in so many ways....I could go on and on! Plus, they were not expensive like other companies. From the owner to the moving men, so professional and great to work with them! Even though I was quite stressed - this company made it a smooth move for me and my daughter! Very happy! Andrea

I had a great experience with Larry and TLC Services. I needed help moving furniture with less than 24 hours notice and TLC was able to help me. They were prompt with their appointment, moved everything very cautiously so as not to damage the furniture or the home, and made sure everything was secure so there were no accidents while moving. They were very friendly and cooperative. I made sure to communicate everything up front (no surprise pianos) and the whole experience went very smoothly. I would definitely recommend them and will also gladly use their services again in the future.

Will was very quick to respond and was fairly priced. Chipmunks were making a home in a wood pile that needed to get hauled away from my home. He took care of the problem himself. Highly recommended for any of your moving/hauling needs.

Hello everyone who is considering this moving company, me an my husband did a lot of looking around for the best rates and after over two weeks of making phone calls I finally found This Side Up Moving who literally had the best rates someone in my position could afford. The owner who goes by Ali was very professional and most of all respectful. Him and his working crew handled all of my things with care other than some moving companies I've encountered in the past. They finished the job before the expected time they offered I never once seen them take a break even tho i offered them to. I recommended them to many of my friends and they loved them. This isn't just any company they are family and that's how they made me feel. I just wanna say thank you to Ali and his workers for the amazing job they did for my family and if your trying to move I hope you pick them. Thank you again Ali, sincerely Rachel

Though starting out in their newly organized working relationship, Dave and Steven of Designers Choice Interiors individually have many years of moving experience between them. Only the better movers have the ability and ambition to pursue an independent owner / operator business. They are personable, hard-working and caring -- having successfully worked for some of the better moving companies in town. As a colleague in the trade, I can offer this positive review based on my firsthand knowledge and numerous customers' feedback -- John R. / Pleasing Disposition, LLC

We had a small project that involved moving a ~300# cement water fountain basin about 10’. Trai City Movers did a great job! They were careful, managed the basin so I could clean it out, and helped hold the basin in place while we shimmed it in place. We were very pleased with their work.

I have nothing but great things to say about working with Ruben's! They were on time, friendly and VERY HELPFUL. They moved my entire bedroom set (which is extremely heavy) down a flight of stairs, then moved them into my new house with a very icy driveway. They went out of their way to help me move a couch we couldn't get in the door ourselves - they did it in 5 minutes. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the metro Detroit area, you will not be disappointed!

Wow! I had a very specialized move. I have a major illness and I was looking to move not only myself, but my fiancee as well in one grand move. Richard packed up my stuff in Sterling Heights, transported it to Monroe, packed up my fiancee's apartment, and moved everything to our new place. He and his two associates spent about 5-6 hours on this project on a Sunday. The price was much more affordable than I had thought it would be as well. They were very nice and understanding of my situation and worked very hard to get everything done for me. I have moved over 11 times in the past, but never had movers that were so quick, and so very nice and understanding. Richard and his associates are great men with great values and I highly recommend them for your move!

Services were excellent, I talked with my wife regarding other companies and naturally she had the final decision. When they arrived they were highly proffesional, and carried out the tasks in a timely manner. My home is very close quarters so I would have imagined it would be hard to get some of the furniture in and out of certain spaces, yet all there moves were precise. They did an amazing job and I would definitley recommend them to anyone needing moving sevices.

I highly recommend K I Moving Services. I have moved 3 times in the past several years and K I is the best service I have used. They arrived on time, were fast, friendly, very courteous and respectful. They went through each room and checked closets to make sure nothing was left behind, carried last minute trash to the dumpster for me. I am a senior citizen, my move was from Michigan to Ohio and I was unable to drive my car that distance. Thank goodness I was able to make separate arrangements with Kingsley to drive for me. He was excellent, as was everyone. Thanks to them the move was a good experience.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
