When I had the privilege to be represented by Dynah, I had requested a court appointed attorney on the spot and she just happened to be there. After one look at my file, i could tell that Dynah had "been around" so to speak. She knew instantly what she was dealing with, but in reality what she was dealing with was two felonies and whatever misdemeanors that were thrown at me (my guess was so that the felonies stuck out to the judge, and ultimately would stick onto my record). Needless to say, I have a rap sheet like a table cloth full of almost consistent misdemeanors snowballed throughout my entire 20's. In and out of county jail, and the longest time I've ever served was roughly 5 months in the county jail. I was sentenced to a year on a high misdemeanor, and ended up serving the rest of my time on a tether. So at this point in my life i know what jail is all about, and deathly afraid to go back not to mention prison. I was facing up to five years in prison for just one of the felonies that I had committed. So that one felony plus another and some misdemeanors, added up im facing a total of mabe 8 years in prison. I then knew I needed to make some serious changes and Dynah wasn't afraid to make that loud and clear. After a month of making some drastic decisions, and focusing on picking my own self up by the boot straps. I took Dynahs advice and started to work on myself, instead of worrying myself to death. Attended meetings, working with mental health counselors, psychiatrists, and doctors. Meanwhile behind the curtains, Dynah requested medical records ect. She was constantly going out of her way to work every angle in my case. I was able to have a couple sit down visits with Dynah discussing the seriousness of my case. Although I had committed several crimes (that truthfully, I'm surprised didn't make the evening news), Dynah had my best interest at heart 110%. She also wanted to make sure that i was well aware of the wrongs Ive done, and the possible repercussions that I was facing. When all was said and done, Dynah bonded my case over to Frank Murphy where she convinced the judge that there was hope left for me after all, even for a repeat offender like myself... So I did end up taking a plea bargain. Not only were a couple of the charges dropped/dropped down, but i wasn't forced to serve any jail/prison time. I was put on probation with the exception that i remained working with mental health services. Now that i broke down my story, to give you an example of why i would give Dynah a 10-10. Between her experience in taking divorce/custody cases, as well as being such a good criminal lawyer, i would recommend Dynah to anyone for virtually any case. I personally know that she is a person who takes her job very seriously and is very smart/witty, so there's no getting over on Dynah in a courtroom. The fact that she knows so much about law, and isn't afraid to answer your texts etc. Dynah worked with me (off the record) and really made you feel like you had Peyton Manning on your team, and Floyd Mayweather in your corner. I've paid lawyers in the past up to $3,000 to take a simple marijuana case, still didnt get any charges dropped and ended up serving a max sentence of 93 days in jail for a misdemeanor (roach in my ashtray)... (not proud to say) but out of all of the lawyers ive ever had (which is roughly about 15-20) I could tell that Dynah is about her business... So if your remotely unsure about a case from custody, divorce to criminal defense, Dynah-Duncan White is hands down one of the best lawyers in downriver, not to mention more affordable (it isn't hard to see that now a days, those are the most important traits). Dynah is definitely a 'peoples' lawyer. In my opinion, those are the best kind. I would recommend her to anyone without hesitation. Once again, thank you so much Dynah, and God bless you.

Working in the legal field can be rather challenging at times. Needless to say, having a firm grasp on the law and knowing how to apply it to ones case can mean all the difference between winning your war or getting less than you deserve. Having had the pleasure of working with this firm in both a personal and professional capacity, I would have to say that this firm goes out of it's way to accommodate it's clients no matter how great or small the issue may be. Whatever situation you might be facing, I would advise you to take it serious & seek advice from these folks. A poor choice of attorneys can lead to years of regret!. So give them a call, I think you'll agree with me once speak with them. Hope this helps those who read this. Sincerely, a grateful individual

My case has just started but I've days and many hours looking for the right attorney that I cold actually afford most lawyers wanted the majority of the money up front and paid off within 30 days. Mr.Quinn was able to work with me with what I was able to pay and gave me a reasonable price and time to pay off my balance. He has always responded promptly to any question I've asked and after meeting him I have faith that he will help me get out of some serious charges. I will post another review the my case is over.

Me. George listened to my problem and had an exact plan of action right away that he kept me informed on in each phase of my case. He has tons of experience working in courts all over Wayne, Macomb and Oakland county and I am confident that his relationships with prosecutors and legal workers is what helps him accomplish the goals of his clients. (I say this because I can tell that relationships play a big part in how he works with his clients. He knows me and my background. He doesn't just tear me like a case number.) I was really pleased with my outcome and even though he wasn't the cheapest lawyer that I talked to I felt he was the most competent and in the end he was worth every penny I paid.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does an immigration attorney do?

Immigration lawyers help their clients through all phases of the immigration process. Experts on immigration law, they are legally qualified to represent U.S. citizens, permanent residents or undocumented immigrants. Immigration lawyers also provide assistance to visitors here on student, work or travel visas, and can represent clients who may have an expired visa or who have overstayed their visa.

You can hire an immigration lawyer to assist you with petitioning for renewing a permanent resident or green card, navigating the naturalization process, submitting an employee-based petition for a work visa, filing a petition for a family member, or representing you or a loved one who is facing detention or deportation, as well as replacing, extending or changing a current visa, green card or work permit. The immigration process is highly complex, with multiple hearings, paperwork and requirements. Hiring a legal expert to represent you can help you make your best effort in the process. When researching immigration lawyers, it is very important to verify their qualifications and find a reputable attorney. Read reviews and verify that the immigration lawyer is licensed by your state before paying any fees.

How do you find a good real estate lawyer?

If buying or selling property feels overwhelming and the thought of finding a good real estate lawyer seems daunting, you’re in luck. There are some simple steps to follow for finding a trustworthy, affordable real estate lawyer to help with your property and legal needs.

  • Determine what kind of real estate lawyer you need. Many states require a real estate attorney to handle sale closing documents. For more complex matters such as a real estate deal gone awry or foreclosure, you’ll want to find an attorney who has successfully handled cases like yours.
  • Look for online reviews of real estate lawyers in your area. Verify that they have proven experience closing or winning cases like yours and that they are in good standing with the state bar association.
  • Choose two or three lawyers to interview. Many offer a free consultation to learn about your case and provide information about rates. For standard real estate closing services, in-depth interviewing might not be necessary.
  • Ask about their rates and whether they charge by the hour or provide services for a flat fee. Ask whether a retainer is required, and what the total bill should be for a case like yours.
  • Ask for a write-up of the services that will be covered by the projected costs.
  • Make sure you like the real estate agent and they treat you with respect. Confirm whether they or another person will be working on your case and make sure you’re comfortable with all members of their team.
  • Pay the retainer and hire your lawyer.

What is a personal injury lawyer?

A personal injury lawyer fights on your behalf if you’ve been injured physically, psychologically, economically or in reputation. This injury may be the result of neglect or malicious intent of another person, or it could be at the hands of a business, government or other entity. Personal injury lawyers specialize in tort law, which is the law of civil wrongs like car accidents, company wrongdoing, unlawful imprisonment and more.

To become qualified to be a personal injury lawyer in the United States, a person must earn a bachelor’s degree, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from a law school. Most states then require the person to pass the bar exam to become licensed to practice law. Unlike many attorneys who require a retainer, personal injury lawyers often work on contingency fees. This means that in lieu of payment upfront, they receive an agreed-upon percentage of the settlement in case of a win.

What does a real estate lawyer do?

A real estate lawyer represents their client’s best interest in all matters related to the sale, purchase and ownership of real estate. They are experts in real estate law. In states that require a real estate lawyer to close home sales, the lawyer must review and finalize all documents before the deal can be legally completed. Real estate lawyers also help clients legally protect their rights when entering, exiting or renegotiating a real estate deal. You can hire a real estate lawyer as an individual or as a business. A real estate lawyer can help with negotiation, addressing mortgage fraud, managing foreclosures and bankruptcy, transfers of titles and deeds, property ownership disputes, zoning issues, creating a co-ownership contract for joint purchase of a property, and much more. Real estate lawyers can also protect you from issues that result when a known problem was not properly disclosed by the previous owner. Overall, real estate lawyers are an added cost when it comes to buying and selling property, but they also ensure your best interests are met, and that you and the people you are doing business with comply with the law.

What should you look for in a personal injury lawyer?

A personal injury lawyer will advocate for your legal rights if you’ve been hurt in an accident at work or in daily life, have suffered from medical malpractice, or are struggling to have your insurance carrier cover your needs. It may be helpful to talk with two or three lawyers before selecting one. When looking for a personal injury lawyer, research their reviews and make sure former clients have had good experiences with them. Next, make sure the personal injury lawyer has experience and proven success winning cases similar to yours. Confirm that the lawyer is licensed to provide services in your state. When you find a qualified personal injury lawyer with whom you want to work, freely discuss payment and fees before any work begins. Most lawyers offer a free consultation to learn what your case is about and explain their rates. Personal injury attorneys typically receive a percentage of your settlement (called a contingency fee), so they are paid after the trial or case is complete. Keep in mind that some attorneys have fees that you must pay even if you don’t win your trial. It’s important to understand these details before work begins so you don’t have any unhappy surprises later. Lastly, it’s wise to choose a personal injury lawyer that you have confidence in and with whom you can communicate openly and honestly.
