Ruth is a wonderful trainer! I've been working out with Ruth for 1 year now. She meets you right where you are physically and mentally. Ruth is very concerned for your safety and all exercise sessions are planned to ensure you do not get injured. Ruth is light-hearted and makes it fun to exercise while she motivates you through the workout. If you are looking for a compassionate, experienced trainer with excellent knowledge about exercise safety and fitness as well as someone with nutrition supplement knowledge, choose Ruth for sure! Thank you, Ruth for taking this journey with me!

One of the best investments I've ever made! I'd been wanting to lose 20 pounds for years, but couldn't stay motivated. After two months with Pete, I'm almost there and feel the healthiest and strongest I ever have. His workouts are much more efficient and effective than I could do on my own, plus he makes them interesting, varied and fun. His nutrition plans and online workouts taught me healthy habits that I'll always keep. Pete is a phenomenal motivator; he has inspired me any time my commitment or effort has wavered. Plus, his service is super convenient, reliable and responsive. My only regret is that I didn't find him years ago!!

David is awesome! He gave me a thorough fitness assessment and then provided an exercise regimen designed specifically to meet my needs -- I wanted bodyweight exercises only, that could be easily done in my basement with the small amount of equipment I have. The beauty part is that the way David recommended me to exercise, I never get overly sore because I don't do a lot of reps of any one exercise, and I never get bored because he gave me a huge selection of exercises for each section of the body. After just a couple weeks I can already feel myself getting stronger, and I think I might be able to sustain this! He also advised me on nutrition. He's a pleasure to work with and he's very affordable! Highly recommended.

Nicole cooks meals for my family weekly. Aside from the amazing flavors and variety of foods she cooks, her service is excellent in that she is very attentive to our nutrition requirements, on follow up and feedback. Nicole will cook whatever it is you desire with passion and love. She is a joy to have around, and her professionalism is top notch. My family looks forward to our meals each week!

Travis at FissionFit has been a game changer for my health and fitness goals for just over 2 years now. He has helped me become physically and mentally strong and healthy through proper nutrition and exercise after having my first child, then again while pregnant with our 2nd child and now once again as I recover from surgery from our 2nd child. I am doing things now that I never thought I could do, like Spin class throughout my pregnancy and even on my due date with baby #2. I have seen such a shift in how my recovery is for the 2nd child, being fit in between and during the 2nd pregnancy. The way Travis believes in me and his positive yet stern motivation, gets me in gear and has made a lasting affect on me for the rest of my life!

Evan is a great trainer. I needed to enhance my workout with new exercises and better my form and he was the man for it. The guy gave me great nutrition tips and helped me out as much as he could. I was impressed with the knowledge he knew and that he didn't just treat me like a client but he treated me like a family member. I would recommend him to anyone in need of fitness help.

When I first met Chelsea I was just starting to get back into the gym after about a 10 year hiatus. I had put on weight and didn't know my way around a weight room anymore. I really needed some guidance and someone who could bring me up to speed on working out and nutrition because things had really progressed and I was pretty much doing it all wrong. I picked Chelsea to be my trainer because she was always so friendly and approachable at the gym. Once we started our sessions I was hooked. She has pushed me to levels I never thought I could achieve and wouldn't have on my own. Not only is she a fantastic trainer but she is just a really good person who cares. She has been the perfect fit for me and I highly recommended her to anyone who is considering personal training.

Denver was AWESOME!!!! Very professional, prompt, and a great trainer. He did a cardiokickboxing class for me. Our class worked hard, he kept us motivated, paid attention to our form, gave us alternative moments for those who had difficulty. We were impressed and the hour flew by.

Keegan is by far the best trainer I've ever worked with. I've worked with others and I haven't seen as good as results as I do with him. He makes the workouts fun. & they're different every time so it's not the same old boring workouts every time. I highly recommend giving him and a call and start training with him.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.
