Scribe Services: The Art of the Article

Introduction: As well as being an experienced classroom teacher, I am a published writer with a love of language. I bring this skill to my teaching of grammar, literature, and writing. I pride myself on my extensive knowledge of the ways that language works on the level of the sentence, the essay form, as well as the master's thesis. For more than ten years, I was an ESL instructor for adult learners, as well as the traditional student. I was also the faculty advisor for engineering students from Saudi Arabia. I filled many roles: guide in a new culture, classroom teacher, as well as personal tutor, and a mother away from home in areas of daily life. I have worked with students of all ages, including senior citizens. My skills include: essay writing, grammar instruction,, test prep, and SAT reading and English. I am willing to work with my students in the areas in which they need help. Being a classroom teacher has been deeply satisfying whether my students are in high school, the university, or an adult learning situation. My love of language and literature has been my inspiration for my entire career. Although I retired from Detroit Public Schools in 1997 in order to attend artists' communities and to write fiction, I returned to teaching three years later because I missed the classroom and the satisfying relationship that exists between me and the people whom I teach. I enjoy the dynamic that exists in the learning situation, whether it is one-on-one or in a classroom setting. As a tutor I can address the individual needs of my students because of my extensive experience and, to tell the truth, my friendly and encouraging nature.
