The Fielder Studio of Music
About this pro
I studied with Mrs. Fielder for four years. I started taking voice lessons when I was a freshman in high school and continued my voice lessons throughout all of high school. Not only did Mrs. Fielder get to know me as a student, but she really knew who I was as a person. My vocal technique improved substantially. I learned how to sing in classical, musical theatre, jazz, opera styles in a healthy way. If certain songs were not fitting my voice, she was flexible and I always felt comfortable telling her how I felt about the music I was singing. Mrs. Fielder is very knowledgable about the repertoire she finds for her students and about the voice. She teaches a wide range of students differing in age and gender. She taught me proper ways to not only sing, but to take care of my voice if it was tired from long rehearsals from school musicals, if I was sick, or vocally tired. She was supportive every step of the way; including solo and ensemble, school musical auditions, NATS, and college auditions. She encouraged me to love my own voice and be confident in all of my performances. I learned so much about musicality and myself as a human being. I am now minoring in music at Michigan State University. If it wasn't for Mrs. Fielder, I would not be the singer/performer I am today, let alone the confident woman I am today. She is an inspiration and you will be one lucky student if you have Mrs Fielder as your teacher.Aug 12, 2015
I know without a doubt that Mrs. Fielder has left a lasting impression on my life. Not only has she taught me proper vocal technique, she has equipped me with a desire to learn more about my voice and gave me the ability to have an open mind to new possibilities in store for it. She takes the time to get to know her students. If there was ever a day when I had a lot to say before I could sing, she would listen with an open ear and an understanding heart. I know I could not have gotten an experience like this with any other voice teacher. Now studying as a musical theatre major in New York, I can say with full confidence that I would not be where I am without my teacher, Jessica Fielder.Jul 27, 2015Verified

- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I continue to study on a daily basis. I read every book and view every video I can get my hands on. I also attend classes and workshops and private lessons throughout the year to learn all of the newest teaching techniques. I am a member of many prestigious music organizations that offer continuing education as well.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I knew from an early age that I would be a musician. I started voice an piano lessons at age 11 and performed at every opportunity before graduating from high school. I went on to study voice and piano at Westminster Choir College and Marygrove College where I taught in a community education outreach program and realized I loved teaching private voice and piano. That was it. I was hooked!
- What types of customers have you worked with?I teach the basics to students new to voice and piano lessons as well as preparing more advanced students for college music programs. I am often called upon to work through vocal issues with seasoned performers as well. I also provide audition prep for local to Broadway musical theatre, opera and choir. Whatever a student needs, I am here to provide.
