Movers came same day as we called them, within hours. Prompt, lightning fast movers, professional, respectful with our belongings including a piano. Reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend and reuse.

Awesome team of movers! Very professional and friendly. I hired this company to move my baby grand piano from my living room to my basement. It literally took about 20 minutes tops and the price was extremely reasonable. Would definitely recommend them to others!

Self Made movers were efficient, professional, friendly, and more than I could have asked for. They moved my bedroom in downtown Detroit to Royal Oak. I would absolutely hire them again to move.

I have seen alot of movers but none of them are as good as the movers from White they were helping me move a month ago. I had alot of stuff and honestly I didn't pack anything before they arrived. They took on the job and started packing everything. These men were very friendly and helpful. They were also very professional and organized. I have relocated 4 times and every time there were issueswith the movers. But these guys were amazing. I will definitely hire them again. Thank you Renee

Very polite, motivated, and knowledgeable movers. Family-company that takes great pride in their work. We had very cumbersome pieces of furniture and they were able to expertly maneuver everything into the truck safely and securely. I would highly recommend Delaneys to anyone planning a move.

I was moving everything from a 1 bed/1 bath from Troy to Detroit. First Choice movers was very professional and efficient, from messaging me a confirmation the previous night, to arriving on time and finishing the job much quicker than estimated. I would definitely recommend them to a friend.

Though starting out in their newly organized working relationship, Dave and Steven of Designers Choice Interiors individually have many years of moving experience between them. Only the better movers have the ability and ambition to pursue an independent owner / operator business. They are personable, hard-working and caring -- having successfully worked for some of the better moving companies in town. As a colleague in the trade, I can offer this positive review based on my firsthand knowledge and numerous customers' feedback -- John R. / Pleasing Disposition, LLC

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.
