always give a bid and stick to it. That makes for a good working relationship.

gather info about the job with a phone call. try to set up a good time to see the work required to be done, send over a quote asap if not on the spot.

I learned to do all of the things I do out of necessity then over time it became a job after word of mouth got around that I can fix just about anything.
