FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I assist clients in settling custody, parenting time, child support, alimony, and property division issues, while getting people legally divorced. I also handle post-divorce motions, like changes in custody or parenting time and changes in domicile, school districts, or other legal custody issues. I also handle wills, trusts, probate, real estate matters, civil litigation, bankruptcy, and municipal law. Mr. Johnson handles many of the same issues, plus criminal defense cases.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Price is always important, but when hiring a family law lawyer, results and experience is even more important. Stay away from flat fees, as the lawyer has no incentive to work for you in such an arrangement. I once was interviewed by a potential client in a post judgment matter. The interviewer advised me during the process that his prior divorce attorney had only charged him $500.00 flat fee for his divorce. Of course our discussions revealed this very modest price resulted in the potential client receiving all the marital debt, the under water former marital home, and very limited parenting time with his kids.
