Introduction: Though books may be used, I don't simply use books to teach my students music as often is the case with traditional methods. Every attempt is made to show my students how to discover music within themselves. Music is not merely notes on a page, but the sounds that reverberate throughout our daily lives. Through each students goals, set at the beginning of scheduled lessons, I teach individual students how to play their favorite music while applying the proper techniques and theory of their specific instrument. Teaching music has been a blessing. Having the opportunity to help others find a voice on their instrument and watching them use that voice makes life that much brighter.

Randy holt is a great guitarist who is very experienced in Rock, metal, and heavy metal thrash styles, who also has experience in jazz, classical, flamenco, fusion, country, punk, and other styles of guitar. Hes a great teacher because he loves teaching guitar, music theory, and bass guitar, and likes answering questions, and has great patience and enthusiasm with students of all experience levels. Hes a very complete teacher who adapts his techings to the interests and needs of the student, and is very encouraging. I never had a question or a problem that he didnt have great insight with or necessary knowledge accommodate. Hes,the best guitarist ive met, and i wish i was still taking lessons from him. Hes very encouraging to beginners, and makes,kearning guitar very interesting and fun. My highest recommendation!

When I showed up for my first lesson with Randy I expected to learn a few Dylan songs and by on my way after a couple of months. It quickly became apparent that he was going to not only teach me more on the guitar than I thought I could learn, but he would teach me to hear my favorite music in a new way. Randy went beyond teaching chords to introducing me to music theory and a knew appreciation for playing and listening to my favorite music. Being from a different generation he was great at learning the music I grew up with. He went even further and introduced me to newer music I would have missed without his input. Randy is knowledgeable, professional and personable. If you are looking for a music instructor you cannot go wrong with him.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to take a few moments getting to know the student, their musical preferences, favorite songs, and favorite artists. Then, I develop a custom lesson plan catered toward their unique learning style based on their particular interests.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
University degree in Integrated Studies (Ferris State University), specializing in Edutainment via music.
