- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Since I was 18 I had worked in the Health care field. Nursing homes, in home health care, and Personal trainer for weightlifting. I had went to seminar for Benevolent touch this is the lighter touch therapy for the Elderly, or people whom cannot take any pressure. Then in 2005 I was talking with a family member whom had her own Massage Business. She told me I was wasting my time in Nursing and I have great intuition and I would be happier doing Massage Therapy. So I signed up for classes at Baker College in Cadillac MI and I had the best time of my life learning different Sports Medicine Techniques, Swedish Massage, and especially loved the Eastern Medicine Reiki.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I have recently worked with a client whom was quadriplegic. He is amazing, I helped him to stay up on the massage table because he has no feeling in his legs and he could do every thing him self as far as dressing, he drove to my office which was amazing. Gets himself in and out of the van and into his wheelchair. Now I have been in Nursing for 14 years prior and saw some amazing things but he was really awesome! I am looking forward to his visits every week.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When your looking for a great Massage Therapist. First you should check to see if they have a website and what they can offer as far as your needs. Second make sure they are reputable as in having a Certificate from a reputable college that has therapist actually doing hands on therapy with the public such as with me I went to Baker College in Cadillac I went for 2years and have a 1,000 hours hands on with the public with the instructor looking at every detail. Third is the massage therapist up to date on the knowledge of the health field changes. Best of all is he or she not afraid to work on areas that you need worked on including the rear end areas. Me I am not afraid to work on any person. I have all shapes and sizes, Male or female, and a lot of ethnic types. You are you!
