FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My services depend on several elements: (1) Is there a rehearsal? (2) How far must I travel? (3) While the "going rate" for wedding officiants varies widely, I attempt to keep my fees low because I consider this to be a privilege. I do negotiate my fee based on ability to pay and the size of the wedding budget. My goal is to help people get married, and I don't want my fee to be a stumbling block.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I am happy to communicate via phone, text, email or Zoom to establish rapport and plan the details of a ceremony. I do request a face to face meeting initially, which allows a couple to get to know me and feel more at ease. I attempt to manage the details with a minimum of stress for couples who typically have a list of "to-do" items. I hope to be one less stress for couples.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My education includes a bachelors degree in Psychology, from Western Michigan University and a masters (Th.M.) in Psychology of Religion and Pastoral Care from Boston University School of Theology. I continue to attend continuing education events designed for pastoral leaders, ranging from preaching seminars to worship, leadership and the changing nature of mission for the church. I have extensive experience in leading seminars on pastoral leadership. I am now retired and enjoying the chance to officiate weddings throughout the year.
