FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our fees are among the lowest around. We also work with people to the greatest extent we can, by offering payment plans, further reduced fees for low income folks, etc. By way of example, our typical fee for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy case is $575. And, our hourly rates for divorce cases are in the $125 - $150 range. We typically cap fees, too, meaning that you know from the outset what you're getting into. Finally, our attorney is a licensed Michigan real estate broker. If you're a buyer in the early stages (and the seller has a realtor), then chances are, our attorney will work for real estate commission paid by the seller! In other words, you get a real estate attorney and a buyer's agent in one, and pay nothing out-of-pocket.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We might have a brief conversation on the phone, then set up a time for a free consultation in the office, by web conference, or occasionally, somewhere closer to you. We think it's important to meet face to face, whenever possible. Once we decide to work together, you get my cell phone number, personal email, etc. You can text me, email me, call me - contact me in any way that's convenient for you. We also maintain a web portal for our clients, where you can access your documents and appointments, send us messages, pay your invoices, etc.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have three degrees from Michigan State - a BA in General Business Administration, a MA in Accounting/Taxation, and a JD. I also have a second Masters in Taxation from Golden Gate University. And, I am a licensed Michigan Real Estate Broker. I also try to keep current on changes in the law by voluntarily completing and average of 30-40 hours of continuing education each year.
