5 years ago, weighing in at 378lbs, and a lack of motivation/ determination to do anything I decided to take my life back. The one constant thing in all this has been my personal trainer/ life coach Pete Haugabook. His unique meal plans, unmatched knowledge to weight lifting/ nutrition, and his ability to motivate makes him the best at what he does. To me, he’s not a trainer, he’s a friend. His meal plans won’t break the bank, and are extremely manageable. With his help, I have lost over 100lbs and have made fitness not only a routine, but a way of life.. Pete literally saved my life, and for that, I will always be grateful!

I wanted a coach for a Bikini competition and chose Gus because he has prior experience with getting WOMEN ready for bodybuilding competitions (harder to find). Gus has a great attitude, is encouraging, but also keeps it real and pushes you to be accountable to the goals set. He is always available on text or phone if you have any questions. He typically replies to me within 30 minute of me texting him a question, which is faster than I would expect, or need it to be. He gave me a print out of exactly what workout and what weight to do based off where I started, that leaves very little guessing on my part. I always know exactly what I need to do. He adjust these everytime I see him to insure I'm getting the results I want. He has also given me macros to follow so I can do flexible dieting. And has connected with me on MyFitnessPal so we can easily go over the information together. He's educated about diet and knows not to starve his competitors, and has already made sure we discuss reverse dieting after the competition. This is all exactly what I wanted and what works for me. But I know based on talking with him that he does a variety of training styles and methods depending on what results people are looking to get. No cookie cutter plans, everything he works out specifically for each client.

Connie has been a terrific coach. I've been working out with her consistently twice a week since June 2, 2017. She is completely reliable and punctual. Also always friendly and upbeat without being intrusive. She is supportive, nonjudgmental, and responsive to my physical status. She is eager to provide the specific type of training and any particular accommodations that I may need. In terms of the training itself, she has a huge repertoire and is always mixing it up to keep things fresh and keep my muscles working their hardest. Her knowledge is impressive. I recommend her most highly!

I met with Cedric McSween for the first time on March 24th, was extremely impressed with his professionalism, depth of knowledge, grasp of my situation and needs, and his explanation of what he could do to assist. Our 2nd meeting occurred on March 31st and his methods produced immediate insights to build on. I can well see the direction that we are headed in, and I am very pleased and looking forward to learning more from him. Anyone looking to engage a business and/or career coach should absolutely give Cedric very serious consideration.

No one teaches with more passion, more distinctions, or more commitment than Sensei Jeffrey Mason. Jeffrey Mason integrates cutting edge psychology (NLP-Neuro-Linguistic-Programming) in every Karate Session with an unending commitment to your success. His common phrase to his students was to 'Relax' to move forward faster. Every karate experience was a personal growth experience. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed my initial appointment. The treatment was relaxing and gave me tools I could take with me after the session was over. I especially appreciate the recording that was provided to me after the treatment was over. It's obvious Tim cares about his patients, he's so attentive and professional. If you've been thinking about getting hypnosis - try Happiness Now.

Nicole is one of the best trainers I have ever worked with. She is invested in each of her clients and considers their success her success. She pushes you to do your personal best while providing the motivation necessary to stay consistent. She provides mentoring/coaching not only for your fitness regimen, but customizes a "diet" plan that works best for you. I have worked with many trainers but was never completely pleased with my results until I met Nicole, with her motivation and guidance I have been able to lose weight and keep it off.

      About

I help people with dreams become leaders with vision. I truly believe we are all leaders; we’re leaders in our families, our communities, our social lives, our business/professional life, etc. I also believe leadership has to start from within; after all, if you can’t lead yourself, you probably aren't going to be very effective at leading others. I help people identify the gap of where they are right now and where they want to be. We then work on creating a plan of action, so you are able to create the life you deserve to be living. We have a lot of tools in our “coaching tool box,” and the most important one is the belief that coaching is about you, your needs, your results, your progress, your potential, your life, your business, and your success. Our Signature Coaching process is a great option for the client willing to invest time and effort in order to have more clarity in his/her vision and to develop a plan for his/her success. Selecting a coach is such a personal decision, and the best way to make your selection is to talk with a variety of coaches. So why not contact me for your complimentary coaching session? You've got nothing to lose!

      About

I offer full-service career campaign services from identifying what you have to offer the world, to putting your marketing materials together, to strategizing an effective search experience. My clients have branded me a best friend, a mom, and a drill sergeant, all wrapped up in one individual. Helene L. writes: Jane served as my career coach long before the term was invented. She genuinely cares about the success of her clients and friends, and her no-nonsense, can-do attitude motivate you to set goals, create a strategy to achieve them, overcome your inertia, and get out there and make things happen! I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a deeply knowledgeable, dedicated, well-connected resource to help them find the courage and develop the tools to explore new possibilities. And from David R: When I first contacted Coach Jane, I had just been laid off after a long tenure at a large company and when a recruiter asked me, what do you want to do? I had no answer. Well, I don't have that problem anymore. Coach Jane's guidance and support helped me to identify what it was I was looking for in a career and, more importantly, what I was looking for in an employer. Not only did Jane help me figure out what I wanted to do with my life but she also helped me discover more about who I am as a person. It got to be almost like therapy. I can honestly say that what I learned in the short time working with Coach Jane will guide me through the rest of my life. And Joe continues: I went to Coach Jane during a period of transition in my life and was spinning my wheels in making a decision to stay at my current job, look to another job, self-employment, or other options. I suffered from "paralysis from analysis" and felt overwhelmed by the changes in my personal life along with these career decisions. I first believed a career coach just helps evaluate the potential job choices, but Jane's system digs deeper and provides insight into your system of values and beliefs to determine the environment, not just the job, that is the best fit. Coach Jane's methods provided a needed period of introspection and reprieve from self-imposed pressures, and ultimately identified a conflict between my values and how success had been defined by my environment. Beyond her system, you can see Coach Jane truly cares about those she coaches.

      About

I am a psychologist and a master, certified life and relationship coach. My clients are very successful people who have that "one thing" they just can't seem to nail. For many, it's relationships. Many of my clients live in a place that I refer to as "relationship hell", where their moods and emotions feel tied to what's happening in the relationship. I help them take back their own power and stop depending on their partner or relationship for their own happiness. For others, it's career, or worrying too much, or feeling uncertain or stuck. I can help you move through your "one thing" and create the kind of success and happiness you deserve. I work with clients all over the world via telephone and email. I am the author of a book, Modern Enlightenment: Psychological, Spiritual, and Practical Ideas for a Better Life that's available on Amazon. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

      • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
      • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
      • Defining your career goals
      • Creating a plan for job searching
      • Improving networking strategies and skills
      • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
      • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
      • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

      Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

      • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
      • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
      • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
      • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
      • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
      • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
      • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

      What is a career counselor?

If you’re feeling lost in your career path, overwhelmed, in need of a job but confused as where to start, or ready for change but uncertain what you want, a career counselor is a good choice for you. A career counselor is typically a licensed professional who has earned a master’s degree in counseling — likely with an emphasis on career counseling. Each state has different licensing requirements for career counselors, so be sure to research before reaching out to a pro.

Due to their academic backgrounds, career counselors often have a more holistic and in-depth approach than a career coach. Career coaches are not regulated by states and also tend to be more business-focused — a good fit for those who know what they want but need help achieving it. On the other hand, a career counselor provides guidance and clarity around some of the more emotional aspects that job hunting and career movement entail. Career counselors meet with you in a series of one-on-one sessions. They assess your personality and learn what drives you. They get a detailed understanding of your work history and your hopes, and often work to help you discover any internal blocks preventing you from going where you want to go. Hiring a career counselor is appropriate at any time in your career, from recent graduate to executive-level management.

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

When it’s time to take your career to the next level, it’s time to hire a career coach. The cost to have a career coach help you with your professional journey will vary based on how many sessions you require, the level of coaching you desire, and the rates of the coach as determined by their experience, expertise, education and training. On average, career coaching sessions can range from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the professional and what your needs are. Career coaches in smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living will also typically have lower rates than those residing in large metro areas like New York, although most do offer remote coaching. Many coaches also offer a free introductory consultation, which gives you the opportunity to determine if their personality and coaching style are the right fit. It’s helpful to ask the coach about their relevant experience and get references from former clients. Depending on the professional, session rates could range anywhere from under $60 to well over $250 per session. Package discounts are a good way to commit to the relationship as well as get savings on services.

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

A career coach provides one-on-one sessions to help you reach your career goals or overcome any challenges you’re having in your career path. The cost to have career coaching can vary based on factors such as the number of sessions you purchase at one time and the experience and rates of your counselor. Career counselors are typically professionals who have earned at least a master’s degree in their field. Based on their academic background, supplemental certifications they have received, and any postdoctoral work they have done, their rates may vary. Typically career counselors offer reduced rates when you sign on for their services on an ongoing basis. A typical price range for career counseling services (nationally) could be $75-$150 per session. Remember to always ask if the career counselor offers a complimentary introductory session. You want to make sure the relationship will be the right personality and counseling style fit to help launch your confidence and upcoming career changes.
