This organization is amazing! JCI goes well beyond JUST teaching private lessons, they are creating a community for the students to be a part of. Learning jazz goes far beyond just private instruction and individual practicing. It is a communal type of music, and Benje and Ashley are doing an excellent job at creating that type of environment.Mar 14, 2019Review from GoogleKalamazoo Music School's reply
Thank you, Madison!!
I'm personally taking lessons with Eddie Codrington for alto saxophone. Eddie is so great to work with! He's very patient, humble, and kind. Not to mention he's a total whiz when it comes to jazz & playing the saxophone! All of the faculty are extremely talented, educated, and experienced. I highly recommend Jazz and Creative Institute. Very high quality team & services!Mar 1, 2019Review from GoogleKalamazoo Music School's reply
So happy to hear this, Sarah! Thanks for the review and can't wait to hear you play sax soon :)
I had a really great time taking vocal lessons with Ashley. While I only had a few months to work with her, she made the most of our time and gave me a lot of warm-ups and ideas for how to continue progress in jazz singing. I especially like how often they have jam sessions and other practice opportunities to meet/practice with other persons taking lessons.Nov 23, 2018Review from GoogleKalamazoo Music School's reply
Hi T! Thanks so much for taking the time to post this review - we really appreciate it. I'm glad that you found the lessons helpful and it was great getting to know you and working together. Wishing you all the best! - Ashley Daneman, owner
JCI goes beyond the lessons by offering musicians opportunities to perform with other musicians and at many venues. The organization is extremely well run, great prices, easy invoicing, great communication and lesson reminders. The directors, Benje and Ashley Daneman, are amazing. Our son is about to be a senior in high school and the instructors and directors have even helped with advice on college plans, visits, auditions, etc. In addition to lessons, our son was part of the KYJO and got to play at WMU for jazz fest and a live recorded concert, The Union, Hastings jazz fest, kids in tune, all kinds of stuff. Through this he's not only grown as a musician but has also made friendships and connections that will last a lifetime. If you're looking for the best program for growing musicians of all ages in southwest Michigan, you just found it.Aug 28, 2018Review from GoogleKalamazoo Music School's reply
