I hired Rod Baum, Rod Baum Custom Homes LLC, to build a deck. I paid him for materials upfront so that he could get a contractors discount, approximately $4K, but 4 months later I still have no deck to show for it. He agreed to refund my money, but has failed to give me a check. He won't return my phone calls or text messages. I'm in the process of filing a small claims civil suit against him. Next I'll be filing a complaint through the State of Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs office and will contact my county Prosecuting Attorney to seek criminal charges. I feel like Rod Baum is completely un-trust worthy and has swindle my money. I would never refer anybody to him.

Also, you need to be suspicious of his endorsements. The post from Kollette Bordeaux-Baum is actually Rod Baum's own wife. She cleverly wrote a misleading review as if she had no relationship, even mentioning how her husband (Rod Baum) calls it his man cave.
He was paid in August for materials, for a job that should have taken less than a month, and it is still not completed in December. We have attempted to resolve this issue with Rod, however he refuses to communicate or return our money. After months of attempting to resolve this amicably, we have been encouraged by a lawyer to pursue civil and criminal prosecution.

Rod Baum of RB custom home created the finished basement of my dreams. He far exceeded our expectations when I told him we are huge Spartan fans and he customized our basement reflecting the colors, and spirit of the Spartans right down to the knobs on the cabinets. This is now our favorite place to relax, hang out, and watch our favorite sporting events. My husband calls it the "man cave" but clearly we all love it just as much as he does!

I had a new wood floor installed by Rod and it looks awesome. I get so many compliments on it.
