- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I set up a time which works best for the prospective client to come in and tell me about themselves and their legal questions and concerns. I offer one hour free consultations for new clients as a way to not only learn more about the prospective client and the case but also to educate the prospective client. Not all situations require attorneys and courts to get involved and I always want to explore those options first because non-judicial resolutions generally are less expensive and more acceptable to all involved. My primary concern is to advise the potential client of what is the best course of action in their specific situation - not how much money I can make.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
You need to ask yourself if the attorney you want to hire answered your questions in a manner that you found to be clear and truthful. An attorney-client relationship is built on trust. If you are not comfortable with your attorney then you should reconsider that relationship.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Hiring an attorney is no small matter. You need to ask yourself if what you are looking to ask an attorney to do is reasonable and if you have the time and money to expend on the matter. Often legal battles get messy and you need to balance what you want versus what you can tolerate or live with.
