FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Absolutely, all the time. Though it becomes harder to find quality continuing education to attend as most programs are geared for the beginner and not the advanced trainer.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was a teenager, I was a member of Law Enforcement Explorers (a division of the Boy Scouts for teens who are thinking about entering that specified career) and my mentor was a Police K9 Officer. I was able to lay tracks for my mentor's dog to find me and I was hooked. After college, I became employed as a Police K9 Handler myself From there, I had the opportunity to learn about general and specialized dog training from many expert trainers from across the country that helped me to develop my own training style and philosophy. I also trained a Search and Rescue K9 Team as well as began specializing working with fearful / aggressive dogs to manage and rehab them to be less fearful and aggressive.
